53rd Recipe [Text, Goldenrod City]
Ugh, you've got to be kidding me.
I'm really sorry for dropping off the face of...this planet? I didn't go home, I just...
I've been sick. With what, I can't tell.
Yes, I've been to the doctor, and no, they don't know either. Apparently it seemed like I had mono, but considering I haven't been in intimate contact with anyone in the capacity to get mono from someone in my entire life, it can't actually be mono.
But I've felt absolutely horrid for all of September, so I've kind of been limiting my contact outside my house, and then I was too tired to post anything until recently...and I feel really awful, there were things I was supposed to be doing last month and I couldn't get it running like I thought I could...
Bluh. Long story short, I was sick. Not so sick anymore. Still going to limit face-to-face contact with people for a little bit just to be safe and I should be completely fine by Halloween.
Hopefully.
I happen to like this time of year, and I want to enjoy myself, goshdangit!
Um, so...have I missed anything?
((OOC: hey life hit the poop out of me but JANE'S HERE...tell her things if you wish. Even if you don't know who she is.))

Glad you're feeling better, at least, but try to rest up, all right? It's always a pain to put life on hold like that, but it'll pay off if you can put up with it.
Still, wonder what even caused it. Sheesh...

But clearly it's some kind of Pokemon world relative of the disease, because I most certainly haven't been in the business of kissing anybody.
[Literally no shade to those who are, though, that's their business and not hers. She's just stating facts.]
I could've gotten too close to a water fountain or drank from someone else's cup on accident, or shared a spoon? Or maybe it's something that can be caught by other means.
At the very least, I've been wearing those nifty masks when I absolutely need to go out, and people are very understanding about it.
And my Pokemon have all been incredibly sweet about helping out.
Have you seen one make instant noodles correctly before? I have now seen it several times and it's kind of amazing.

But, hey. Good to hear they're taking care of you. Smart move with the masks, too. Some people don't bother, and they're just part of the problem.
Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if this place did have weird mutated versions of normal diseases. Pokémon are already weird animals.

Dinah would always help me out while on the road - with cooking that is - so I'm not surprised she picked up other things along the way. I'm more impressed that she showed some of the others what to do, too.

Being able to adapt like that makes for a strong team, both in and out of battle.

Feels like there's probably some untapped niche there. Most people are content to focus on battles.

But I'm sure it's worth trying, or at least ruminating on, classes to help Pokemon develop other skills if they so choose.
Who knows? There really could be a demand for it.
Text
Goodness, that sounds awful, but I'm glad you're on the mend. Do you need anything, Jane?
[Text]
I love my Pokemon, but conversation with them and conversation with other people is completely different, and often one-sided.

I know the feeling, here and back home. I used to have a quartet of mice; it's a long story, but we had developed a form of telepathy with each other. And before I let myself open up to the other Paladins, they and my advisor Coran were my main companions.
[She still misses them all. And it's tiny, but she's come a LONG way from saying "before I was a true member of the team," thinking she needed to hold herself apart as their commander, as the only one aside from Coran who wasn't from Earth, someone that belonged. It feels good, knowing that she always did.]

I...will just choose to suspend skepticism and remember that telepathic mice, in this world at least, is an actual viable possibility, ergo not exactly outlandish somewhere else.
But...yeah, it's a lot like that. Or like how I used to only be able to communicate with my friends via text.

To be fair, it's still unique in my world as well. It was a very specific set of circumstances.
[Said circumstances being stowing away in Allura's cryo-stasis pod for ten thousand years.]
Long distance?
[The "or...?" is invisible.]
no subject
It really was just distance between Jake and I, but when it came to Roxy and Dirk, there were also centuries involved?
Literal time and space tomfoolery that, for reasons, could be bridged by a chat client.
Somehow it was both easier and harder when all you had to know a person was text on a screen.
no subject
Interesting. And... oddly familiar. I think I've told you before, but I'm originally from ten thousand years in the past from when I first met Shiro, Keith, Romelle, and the rest of our team.
[Or well... plus or minus ambiguity to the wording.]
TEXT
And still sick..!?
Ehh...I guess for stuff you've missed, we've been holding a great big Aurora League show-and-tell kind of deal with a stamp rally? Oof, I wonder if anyone covered for you...
Uhhhh...there was also a race! ...That got taken over by walking tentacool lookalikes.
[Text]
The girls all but forced me to go back home when I so much as attempted to cross the threshold.
[This is how you know you hired good trainers for your gym - when they really care about their leader's health.]
I feel terrible, but I couldn't well shuffle about the place like a lukewarm ghost.
It was entirely the wrong month for such hijinks.
Tentacool lookalikes...? Oh, dear. More regional variant, I suppose?
[Text]
[To be fair the gym isn't so much of a job as it is 'field training' for her Grunts though.]
Probably the best call in any case! We'll just have to come up with some specialized hijinks for you to get up to later~!
Er...that's just the thing though they. Weren't? They're a separate species!
More mushroomy at heart apparently. Land based.
...running...on those weird little tentacles...
[Text]
Maybe it's a case of...what's the term again...convergent evolution? Not like Pokemon evolution, moreso similar to Earth evolution.
But if I'm recalling my biology lessons correctly, it's this form of species distantly related developing similar or near identical features and abilities in order to survive. Maybe these guys and the Tentacool we know split at an earlier time in history and somehow ended up with similar features in totally different habitats.
[It takes twenty minutes for Jane to type out that reply. The light from here 'gear kind of bothers her eyes, but she wants to get all the thoughts out!]
no subject
It...might be that yeah...I think there's been at least one other example of that from pokemon, the...diglett look-alikes? Those weren't regional either.
I guess uh...at some point a mushroom started walking and it happened to look a lot like a jellyfish..?
no subject
Maybe it's not too big a stretch.
Possibly.
it's funny bc until the poltchageist line it was really just these two hguvljkhnf
Makes me wonder what else is out there honestly. There's those guys, the uh...Wigletts...
