[Someone is feeling a bit lonely today thanks to this mouse swarm. However, talking about things like this has always been difficult for her, especially in regards to feelings. Yet, she's not sure if she can keep bottling it up either. So have an anonymous text.]


Have you noticed how these mouse Pokemon are running around in pairs or in families of three or four?

It must be nice to have someone at your side without having to worry whether they'll leave. To have a family.

Do you have a family back home? What are they like?

Found family, mostly. Two of them are cousins.

So all of you are very close?

[crystalmaster]

Yeah. We did almost everything together. I own a diner back home and they all pitch in helping out.

[mywayistheway]

That sounds wonderful. You must miss them.

[crystalmaster]

All the time. And by now I'm torn, since I love all these sweethearts too.

[He pets some of the Pokemon.]

I hate the thought of leaving them behind when I go home.

I know what you mean. Getting attached to Pokémon is easy.

Though they’re no substitute for a human family.

[crystalmaster]

It sure is.

I wanna have both, but I doubt I’ll find a way for that to ever happen.

You never know. I know that people say you go back with no memory of this place, but who’s to say it’s impossible?

[crystalmaster]

It's probably kinder not to remember, if there's no way for the Pokemon to come too.

You think so?

I don’t think Pokémon would fit very well in my world, but I would still like to remember them.

[crystalmaster]

It's a tough call. I don't wanna forget them, but I dunno if I could take thinking about them and not having any hope of seeing them again.

I guess I could always hope I'd get pulled back again. Some do.

I've lost many people over the course of my life. People I cared about. That I will never be able to see again. Even though it hurts, not being able to remember them would be so much worse.

From my point of view, it would be the same with Pokemon I have.

[crystalmaster]

[Radley ponders that.]

You don't believe in any kind of an afterlife?

[He thinks he will be able to see those lost in death again. But this situation ... he just doesn't know. Still, it is a good perspective and it gives him a lot to contemplate. He really does hate the thought of forgetting everyone here.]

Not in a literal sense. It's complicated, and to describe it would force me to reveal my identity.

Whatever you're comfortable with. I'd like to know, but I don't wanna make you talk or reveal who you are if you'd rather not.

[Radley blinks in surprise. He hadn't quite expected this. But then he smiles.]

Like I said, it's complicated.

My ancient ancestors were very devout in their religion and did believe in an afterlife. That's been largely abandoned in recent times with some exceptions. These days, most Mandalorians believe in the manda. Which is like a collection of souls that are the essence of what it means to be Mandalorian. A Mandalorian ignorant of their culture and heritage is considered to be soulless, and would have no part in the manda. This is seen as a disgrace.

[So does that mean at least some of the people she's lost would be considered soulless? It seems tactless to ask, but it sounds like that's what she might mean.]

Do you believe that too?

I’m not sure what to believe anymore.

I thought I did, but a lot of things happened recently that made me question it. I’m still figuring that out.

I know that feeling. I've been questioning a lot the last months too.

[mywayistheway]

There isn’t much reason to worry about it here.

I’m just focusing on training my Pokémon. Speaking of which, how are your Eevees?

[crystalmaster]

Yeah, I guess not.

[He smiles.]

They're great! I was actually going to contact you; they've laid some eggs. The couple with the Shiny parent had three. There's no guarantee any will be Shiny, but it's a chance.

Shiny or not I’m looking forward to adding to my team.

I’m between towns at the moment but I can drop by this weekend.

Yeah, they're sweethearts no matter their color.
