[Someone is feeling a bit lonely today thanks to this mouse swarm. However, talking about things like this has always been difficult for her, especially in regards to feelings. Yet, she's not sure if she can keep bottling it up either. So have an anonymous text.]


Have you noticed how these mouse Pokemon are running around in pairs or in families of three or four?

It must be nice to have someone at your side without having to worry whether they'll leave. To have a family.

Do you have a family back home? What are they like?

[For a second, Ryou's expression is something ...sad. Lonely. But then he manages to pull himself together and sort of smile softly.]

I had my parents and a younger sister back home. My father wasn't really around much, he's busy with his work and I chose to move out on my own to attend my chosen high school, but my mom and Amane...they were around.

[A breath.]

...I know it sounds weird, but sometimes I write letters to my mom and Amane. I know I can't send them, but it helps.

[He doesn't mention his mom and Amane both being dead, that he's writing letters to dead people instead of just people who aren't here with him, but perhaps his tone carries what he isn't saying.]

[That look is something she knows all too well. Just from that she can sympathize. But as he goes goes on, that only deepens.]

I don't think that's weird at all.

[The fact that this young fellow refers to his mother and sister in the past tense is a clue. Clearly the relationship with his dad is not a good one as he chose to move out and doesn't write letters to him.]

It's something I've never thought of. And if it helps, that's what's important.

Like I said, my father's busy with his work a lot and he doesn't really visit me much, but we did talk sometimes before I came here. He's...

[He's distant. He didn't try to stop Ryou from moving out when he did. He valued getting an ancient cursed artifact over his living son. Ryou doesn't say any of that though, instead trying to focus on whatever positives there are.]

...I've made a few diorama displays for the museum he owns.

In my culture family is very important.

It's okay, I'm used to it.

[He's used to being alone. He has to be, between his father's distance, the deaths of Amane and his mother, and his inability to keep friends before his transfer to Domino High due to the actions of the Ring Spirit. Heck, everyone he knew from home who was here with him ended up vanishing, leaving Ryou alone again.

He has to be used to being alone, because otherwise he'd have to think about it more, which really isn't something he wants to do.

...Still, it'd be nice if his father made more time for him like what Bo-Katan is describing.]

[Bo-Katan could relate to that. She hated being alone, but she too has had to get used to it. She feels deeply for this boy she doesn’t know.

Because of that, she risks giving herself away as he answers his question.]

Yes. Parents are very involved in the raising of their children.

My father ruled an entire planet. If he was able to still make time for me and my sister, yours could too.
