[The footage focuses on someone who looks extraordinarily like Louie, for those familiar with him, save this person is wearing red. He observes for a moment and then grins.]
Well well well, this is certainly a case of deja vu! I'm not sure how long I've been gone, and getting reacclimated to this environment certainly took a few moments more than if I'd been expecting it. But the point is, hello again Pokemon world! 'Tis I, Huey Duck! As new people may have surmised I've been here before, so I'm rather used to Pokemon, training, and the like.
[The astute may notice in his background is a Quaxly, meticulously grooming their feathers. Stop, look in the reflection from a puddle, back to work.]
But because there are surely people who weren't here the last time I was, I wanted to put an introduction out there. As per my ID I'm a breeder, so hopefully you can look to me in the future for aid with your Pokemon's care and general knowledge!
[He snorts and mutters to himself, however audibly still, "Research is definitely going to be a focus here!" Then he pauses and clears his throat.]
And Louie? If you're still out there, call me as soon as you see this. [Beat.] Huey out.
[End video.]

[He's chuckling a bit, because as much as Huey's nerd babble is normally just exhausting... This is kind of great. Look, Louie's glad to have a brother here, especially to have a brother back here, but that's the thing: They're brothers. Finding this freak-out funny is a part of brotherhood.]
Come on, Huey, I couldn't exactly stop getting older. There's so much else to update you on, but... I turned 15 last April.
[An amused snort.] And no, you're not in charge of me. A different nerd is, because I've got a job.
He's my boss. The nerd is my boss.
no subject
A job?? You?
[He's both amused and flabbergasted, but at least landing on something more positive is a LOT easier here.]
That's great! I'm really happy for you, really. So, what fierce and savvy business finally managed to tie my dearest brother down to a regular paycheck?
no subject
I'm a social media specialist. I keep the accounts updated with photos and facts for an aquarium with a focus on extinct aquatic pokemon that are revived from fossils.
[...But he's also got the perfect further retort to that sassiness.]
But that's just one of my jobs, Hubert. You see, there's also an official breeding association now. I switched my trainer class, and you happen to be talking to the highest-ranking member among off-worlders. ...Oh!
[The surprise is entirely feigned. Louie then leans forward and smirks, his tone oozing smugness.]
You said you're a breeder now, too, didn't you? Well then welcome to my world, dear brother.
1/2
2/2
[Said genuinely still, probably, but through clenched teeth.
Louie employed and successful? Great! He's all for his brother actually going places.
Louie being older than him, working at THE COOLEST PLACE EVER, sharing his same trainer classification and being better at it than him even if he'd hit the ground running?? AND being so sufferingly smug about it, because he knew how much it'd tweak Huey's
beaknose?Breathe Huey, "losing it on the network" also applies to temper...]

Beryllium, on the other hand, is a Tatsugiri. And while that means she's very intelligent - plenty bright enough to recognize an angry tone that made her trainer "retreat" - she lacks a certain understanding of "brotherly razzing". Also, for all her interest in the PokeGear, there is much about it she has yet to learn, like that attacks cannot be transmitted via the network. Her previously-narrowed eyes go wide and she lifts her head, a glow emitting from her mouth and gills that Louie recognizes as a charging hyper beam. And while damage caused by building-eating giant worms is one thing, Louie isn't sure the Aurora League will be as generous with their funds to fix damage cause by sibling bickering.
He also really doesn't want her to break his PokeGear.
Louie scrambles to sit up - Rial happily settles down to claim the heated pillow - and grab Beryllium's pokeball and recall her. There's a brief moment where he's stunned and panting, before looking back at his 'Gear with a slight and sheepish smile.]
Sorry.
[Huey can take that to be an apology for whatever he chooses, because Louie isn't about to specify. He still wants to at least kind of win.]
no subject
Yeah, I'm sorry too. And... I really am happy for you.
[After a quiet moment, he offered a smile.]
...Highest ranked breeder, huh? I think Uncle Scrooge would be proud.
[It's clear from his tone that someone else, someone far closer to Louie in this moment, is proud too.]
no subject
[It means a lot to hear that. Of course he thinks about it. And of course, it's not hard to tell Huey's proud, too, any "big brother complex" stuff aside.]
Yeah, he probably would be, they pay me a lot.
[He snickers and shakes his head. As he continues speaking to Huey, he uses "picture in picture" so he can look up routes and travel time as they talk, thought to Huey it maybe just looks like he's being long-distance poked.]
That was Beryllium, by the way. She's a Tatsugiri, and actually, she's really clever. I mean, she doesn't always get the differences between pokemon things and people things, but... I'd say she's a sharpie. She gets along really well with Lek, my Malamar. He's super smart, so...
[A small shrug. Sometimes smarties and sharpies make the best teams.]
I've ended up with a lot of new Pokemon, plus some guys you'll probably remember. [Oh wait, actually...] Some guys you'll definitely remember, too. I've still got Cavendish, Lexington, and Moorshire. Man, there's just a lot to tell you! It's hard to keep it straight. Well, I just mean in my head, but duh.
[Sometimes you forget your brother doesn't necessarily know you're gay and don't realize you maybe just outed yourself a bit, which is fine... Unless you have a boyfriend and yes, of course Louie wants Huey to know about Emporio! But it's Huey, and with the way he gets about romance...]
no subject
Hold on, misting up a little again. Inhale, exhale...]
I can't wait to meet them, and get some of the old band back together, too. Of course right now I've only got Snow- [He leaned a little to show the Quaxly, who after the grooming had settled down a bit behind Huey on top of a handkerchief, and was paging through a guidebook] -but will likely pick up a couple more just on the way to meet up with you.
no subject
And hey! There's a pokemon Louie recognizes. Actually, just from having a Quaxly of his own - who is now a fully-evolved Quaquaval - he finds it amusingly fitting that Huey's ended up with one as his new starter.]
A Quaxly, huh? Cool. [He doesn't get the name, but judging by the last round of nicknames Huey gave his pokemon, he knows better than to ask lest he be educated.] There's a place where we can check for the rest of your old team, too.
And about meeting up... I should be able to fly out on Peso and get you. It'll take a few hours, and I'll have to see if somebody here can lend me one of their flying pokemon, but it'll still be a lot faster than meeting in Cherrygrove. And-- I can bring you back here to see where I live?
no subject
[Seeing where Louie lives is admittedly a distant second to being able to see him soon. Even the idea of getting to fly is only in there Somewhere behind the mere idea of getting to be with his brother. True, Huey himself hasn't really "missed" him, but Louie had and that was enough for him.]
I think that sounds like a great idea.
[A bit turns out to be upwards of five hours, but granted, some of that is retrieving pokemon. Moorshire and Lexington have to be withdrawn from a PC, as does Peso. (She's usually only out and about when needed for flying due to her size, and after returning from the island exploration trip with Emporio and Jotaro, Louie had largely been catching up on homebody-ing.) Then he talked to Armin about borrowing Amadeus the Noctowl, which left just enough party room for Cavendish and one other pokemon, which wound up being Pyrite. More coverage against potential flying type threats is always good when flying, just in case. In a place like this, you never knew when you might have to fight a god bird of a pokemon!
Thinking about that prom has Louie rushing to finish getting ready, though. Huey needs to hear about that, too! There's so much he's eager to fill his brother in on! So, once Louie arrives in New Bark Town, he's hopping down off Peso even before she's entirely landed.]
no subject
And so he does! But as time gets closer to the estimated meetup, he finds himself more and more in New Bark, eventually just eagerly watching the skies, Snow sitting with him. Then- there! That had to be Louie! Judging where the landing would be he was already rushing over himself before the Corviknight had settled. Heck, Louie would barely be off the bird before Huey had wrapped him up in a bright, happy hug.]
no subject
I think Peso's glad you're back, too.
no subject
Yeah I guess so.
[Then back to Louie!]
So, how was the trip? How's your job? And the breeding club? You've got to tell me everything!
no subject
[Because clearly that is a very important distinction. He is a professional businessman here!]
And the trip was cold, Huey! Flying in winter is always awful.
[But his complaint is paired with a smirk that soon melts into a more relaxed smile.]
The job's great, it's-- I take cool pictures in the aquarium to match whatever aquatic pokemon fact Armin gives me, then make a post. It's not hard, and it's actually kind of fun? Plus the pay is really good! And that's even without factoring the free room and board.
[Louie plops his backpack on the ground, leaning down to dig out the pokeballs that have Huey's pokemon. He keeps talking as he fishes around.]
Not just for me, for Emporio. I don't know if you ever knew him, but we got close after you went home. He went through that around the same time, so he knew what it was like. And Emporio is just... He's the best.
[Louie already found the pokeballs, but he's staying crouched over with his face in his backpack as if he hasn't. He can feel his face flushing, and talking about this to to someone who's known him literally his entire life is hard. Right now, the things he's come to accept about vulnerability not being the same as putting himself in danger feel pushed far back in his mind. But of course, Huey ought to know. And what's more, Louie wants him to know! Emporio shouldn't have to deal with him putting it off. Besides, he's awesome; Louie has zero embarrassment about dating him. Why would he ever? The risk of embarrassment entirely lies with how over the top Huey may get.]
We're-- I asked him out after he beat the Elite Four and Lance. You should've seen his battles, Hue, he's an amazing trainer. And, well, like I said... He's the best. Dating him's been great.
[He clears his throat, but launches right back into it. As much as talking is big thing with Louie, this kind of going on without stop is uncommon for him. He wants to get everything out, and while a little bit of that is nerves, most of it is that there's so much to share! And there's a bit of social tactics here, too. Running a conversation lets Louie feel in control of it.]
For a while, we traveled around staying at rentals, but then when Armin offered me my job and a place to stay, he was totally cool with me bringing Emporio. And then Armin's fiancée, Angel-- She'd been gone but came back, and they got married, so it's the four of us there. Five, now that you're back too. I mean, if you want to stay with us. I don't know if you were planning to get straight to studying pokemon mysteries, or something.
[It is only now that Louie, still blushing faintly, stands up again, holding out three pokeballs.]
Here, they're yours again.

These were the types of thoughts for replies that were rolling around in Huey's mind and were all but obliterated when he heard the news of Louie having a boyfriend.
Louie. His brother. Boyfriend.
Dating.
LOVE!
He somewhat numbly takes the Pokeballs, staring at Louie wide-eyed with an expression he might recognize Huey having around the likes of Donald and Daisy, Fenton and Gandra, and so on.]
You've got a boyfriend??
[Louie will get the point-two seconds it takes Huey to pocket his Pokeballs- sorry guys, the reunion is coming but LOVE AWAITS! -to do anything to prevent what's about to happen, which is a big pounce of a hug right after a small charge-up of hands and feet.]
Oh Louie, that's amazing! Incredible! I'm sosoSO happy for you!!
no subject
And in the presence of his big brother (Because the truth is, it doesn't matter that Louie's older now, Huey has always taken on the the oldest brother role so much to heart that Louie could never see him as anything else.) that has those concerns slipping out as he steps back from the hug.]
Dude, I have no idea what I'm doing. I mean, I'm really happy! And he's great, like I said, it's just...
[Louie gestures vaguely, struggling to find words for his feelings regarding finding words for his feelings. But then he shakes his head with a sigh and an earnest smile.]
But we can talk about that later. [Or maybe never, he can't help hope, as the moment of seeking reassurance starts to pass.] You're here again! And you're going to love the gym. Like I said, you can stay there if you want. I mean, I didn't exactly ask, but I don't think I needed to.
no subject
[There's something else important to take care of real quick, though. Louie had handed him three Pokeballs, and it was about time he reunited with other old friends. Two would wait until shortly, but there was one in particular. Almost instinctively he found it even inside his pocket, throwing it out into the empty air nearby. A Castform appeared, blinked a moment, then noticed Huey.
What happened next was a loud squeal, unusual for the usually calm little Pokemon, who rocketed into Huey's arms. He laughed, hugged him tightly, then popped him up into the air like one might with their toddler.]
Cavendish! Oh hey there buddy, you look amazing!
no subject
[The phrase lacks any of the teasing tone it might normally carry coming to Huey from his brother.
It's impossible not to find this reunion heartwarming. At least, it's certainly impossible for Louie to do so. He's as happy for Cavendish as he is for Huey; he's gotten fond of the little blob. He had all three of Huey's now-returned pokemon for a long time, there, and while he did spend a bit frequently riding horseback on Lexington to save his poor feet the struggle, Cavendish is the one Louie's spent the most time with, especially in recent months with the weather-strategy team he'd be working on.
Yeah, he's not thrilled to be losing the cornerstone of that, but he'll be fine. He's Louie Duck, sharper than the sharpies, and he's sure he can figure something out.]
no subject
carefulforehead to forehead gesture there in best "Horse Girl Movie" style, before Huey turned back to Louie and came back to him.]Bro! These Pokemon look incredible! [The bright, sunny expression stayed no less warm as it shifted into something fond, a thought occurring to him.] You've... really been taking good care of them when I couldn't, huh?...
[And without even waiting for him to answer, he swept him up in another hug.]
no subject
Well, Lexington really came in handy whenever I got sick of walking, so...
[He's going to take advantage of Peso having knocked Huey's hat askew and ruffle his brother's hair. Huey's always going to be the big brother in his book, but come on, he's just got to do this at least once!]
They made it easy, too. They're well-behaved! Thankfully. I've got some really colorful team members by now...
no subject
He squawks a bit himself, pushing away at Louie's arms until he's released. Stepping back, he flashed him a glare (with no substance, admittedly- too happy to be back with his brother) as he made a point of fixing his hair and hat.]
Well, I'd love to see them sometime, once we're back.
[One final pat for each of his own Pokemon before he returned them. Nearly all of them anyway; kneeling down, he held his arm out to Quaxly, who eagerly climbed up and onto his shoulder, with Huey moving his arm to help as he stood up.]
I'm excited to see what's around the island, too! There's all kinds of Pokemon out there just waiting to be encountered.
