Meeting Rui had been unexpected, but not nearly as unexpected as somehow finding himself invested in another total stranger on this world. Something about him felt lonely, and Kurama couldn't leave him on his own like that, in good conscience.

As they walked toward the café and the vulpix took the lead, he sent a message to Kuwabara informing him to meet them there if he was available. Once he had confirmation, his focus turned back to Rui as the building came into view ahead.

"We'll be meeting my travel companion there, he should be along shortly."

Rui followed along mainly for the company, because he was lonely. He didn't realize just how much he's gotten used to having friends around until he got here.

"Your travel companion? Is he a friend from your home world or someone you've met along the way?"

That is still such an odd thing for him to say. He has some experience with different worlds, being able to go to the Wonderland Sekai, but this is...a different beast for a couple of reasons.

Kuwabara arrived a few minutes later after having received the message for Kurama were to meet up. Puu came flying by carrying a small bag in it's mouth as it landed on Kurama's shoulder.

"Hey, you wanted to meet here?" Kuwabara greeted as he waved at his friend and gave a nod at the new comer. He was at least now wearing the coat that Kurama got him and dressed warm verses the last time.

"He's from home." A simple enough answer, although there were layers that complicated it. Back home, Kuwabara and Kurama's human body were only about a year apart in age. Here, that was no longer the case.

Puu's arrival interrupted any further comment, Kurama tilting his head to smile at the Pokémon in greeting. He gave the bag a questioning look, but figured an explanation would be coming.

"Kuwabara, I wanted you to meet Rui, he's a new friend." Simply and without room for question, not that he expected one from Kuwabara. "We thought we'd grab a bite to eat here."

As they came upon the café, Kurama held the door open for the others to step in, out of the weather.

[Rui would be lying if he said he's not at least a little intimidated by the newcomer. He's both bigger than him and looks like a stereotypical punk. But he's not really getting the feeling that he should run just yet, so instead he nods back at him.

Rui is visibly surprised by Shuichi already calling him a friend, and he has to remind himself that its probably more to be polite than anything else. With that reminder to himself he returns to his normal smile.]

A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Kuwabara-kun~ I'm Kamishiro Rui. Just Rui is fine though, and this little guy is Wattson.

[The Pawmo on Rui's shoulder rubs his cheek pouches and electricity sparks out harmlessly. Rui keeps talking as he heads into the cafe.]

Yes. A cafe is a great setting to get to know someone too, don't you think? Especially over something sweet.

Kuwabara gave a nod and followed the two inside. "It's nice to finally meet you, Rui. Any friend of Shuichi is a friend of mine." He replied in a cheerful tone. He realized that a lot of people viewed him as a punk, but his friendly manner often threw off people as well. It really depended on the approach.

He then turned to Kurama to explain the bag that Puu had gifted the other with. "Those are various seeds we found and thought you might be able to use them. I think the Pokedex might have information on them what they can be used for. Might be a start for a greenhouse. "

Kurama was confident enough in Kuwabara's ability to get along with most people that he expected the introduction to go smoothly. Of course, he noted the surprise at being called a friend over any discomfort the meeting may have caused, but Kurama so rarely dealt with anyone being intimidated by Kuwabara before now.

He smiled at the comment about sweets before turning his attention to Kuwabara at the explanation while they entered. Kurama's expression lit up at the mention of the greenhouse, the one sense of normalcy this place seemed to offer, so far.

"That was thoughtful." He offered in thanks, tucking the seeds away in a pocket for now before indicating a table they could sit at. "I'll have to look into it later, I'm sure we'll find a place here with enough room to get started, at least."

Turning back to Rui, "I'm afraid that I don't have much experience getting to know someone at a cafe, actually. I suppose this really is the place for new experiences, isn't it?"

[Rui chuckles and rubs the back of his head. He's really not sure what to do with multiple people calling him a friend in a row, even if it is to be polite.]

To be honest, I haven't had much experience like that either, but it seems like something you would see on TV or something.

[Rui sits at the table Kurama gestured to. He barely waits until everyone is seated before he starts asking questions to get to know them. Unfortunately, he's still not quite over the novelty of meeting people from different worlds. And even if he was, learning more only makes for better shows later. So his "get to know you" priorities aren't the best.]

Shuichi-kun mentioned that you are from the same world. What kinds of things did you guys get up to there? What ways was it different or the same from this world?

"Cafes are nice places to meet people. I usually hang out with my friends at them or meet up with my sister. Usually you see a lot of people from neighboring schools in them," Kuwabara easily explained as he sat down. It was pretty normal for him. His friends ended up going to different schools so it was a good place to meet up.

That was the easy answer but as to how they met up and what they did? Kuwabara was quickly trying to form something that didn't include fighting and the demon world. Granted he was used to having to exclude that stuff...it was still awkward. What to really say? It was something they never discussed ahead of time. He gave a side way glance at Shuichi.

"Shuichi started off more as a tutor for myself. Then we got to know each other more." Kuwabara stated. Which in all honesty it was true. Shuichi had helped him a lot later in his studies.

Kurama glanced at Kuwabara with the question, trying to mask the unease it prompted before smiling at the reasonable enough answer he offered.

"Yes, actually a mutual acquaintance requested I help with a project. Kuwabara and I met there and we've been friends ever since. I suppose our world isn't much different from this one, although lacking in Pokémon. Children attend school and grow up to start work instead, travel certainly isn't quite so common, either."

Very boring and mundane, and technically not a lie considering they were both from human world, specifically.

By this point, Kurama has known Kuwabara for several years, they've endured demon tournaments, studied together, Kuwabara had even attended his mother's wedding. Which means he also knows their birthdays are within the same week.

Sometimes, he still has to remind himself that it wasn't quite as long for his friend, and that the human is far more interested than he is in feeling a sense of normalcy while here. So, he's planned a small party for both of them at the new home they'd only just settled into in Violet City, still under construction to better suit the tastes of the three new residents and their Pokémon.

He'd encouraged both Rui and Kuwabara to invite whoever they'd like to attend. For the sake of meeting friends, just giving everyone a chance to have a good time with no pressure after having to adjust to this new world.

He hadn't known about the Reveal Glass incident before sending out the invitations, but thankfully things seemed to have gone back to normal since then. Hopefully, the weekend had given enough time for raw emotions to settle down.

Perhaps not surprising, plants can be found in a few of the rooms already. Not many, but things he could obtain on short notice in the dead of winter, just enough to liven the place up a bit and make it feel more like home.

There are snacks and desserts in the kitchen with an assortment of soft drinks and tea. Botan offered to bring cake, and her wife, which in itself made the event worth his efforts, even if the house was far from ready for company.
