[This time the video opens to a view of what some might recognise as the Bamboo Forest. Riz and Adaine have been travelling to handle some assignments --they are nerds, after all-- but it looks like Riz has run into a little problem.

The little problem hovers cheerfully in front of the camera and jingling the keys hanging from its arms, one of which just happens to be a dorm room key.

Riz himself is not on screen. His hand is though, as he flips off the Klefki.]


Okay, hit me with every idea you've got for getting this thing to give me back my key. I'll take everything into consideration at this point.


[Adaine is probably somewhere off screen laughing as Riz battles with one small key thief.]

[ Adaine is in fact laughing off screen, though she is not without mercy. ]

I could try to have Howl cast Hypnosis? Once it's asleep, you should be able to get your key back.

[You are a bad friend, Adaine Abernant!

With a frustrated huff, Riz stuff his gear into his pants pocket (where he'll be able to feel any responses come in) before squinting at the cheery little Klefki.]

Yeah, let's try it.

[ Adaine grins, and fishes Howl's Pokeball from her bag. ]

Alright, here goes nothing!

[ She tosses the ball to set free Howl the Owl, her Hoothoot. It flaps into existence and lands on its one foot, hooting curiously at the little Klefki. ]

Howl, would you please Hypnotize this Klefki here?

[ Howl hoots obediently and attacks with Hypnosis! ]

[Klefki manages to push through the hypnosis for a moment or two, but eventually it becomes too much and it slumps to the ground, asleep.]

Hah!

[Riz all but pounces, crouching over the snoozing Klefki to try and find somewhere he can pry apart its arms and retrieve his key. Unfortunately, the looped together arms seem to be without a visible break. And, as annoyed as Riz is with this creature, he isn't just going to start hurting them.]

I can't make it let go.

I am afraid there is no solution here. Your key belongs to the keys at this point.

[ As soon as Riz is pouncing on the fallen Klefki, Adaine turns to praise Howl with feather scritches and some of his favorite berries. She looks over, though, concerned when the plan still didn't work. ]

It's still hanging on tight? ...That's one determined keyring.

[ What to do, what to do? Adaine looks at her ziplock baggie full of berries. ]

Maybe, instead of trying to take your key back by force, we could try to bribe it? [ She holds out the baggie. ]

[tempredmental]

You could battle and catch it.

[Like really. What else would you do at that point?]

I'm not just going to accept that without at least trying some things.

I have caught it. I don't really wanna own it though, I just want my key back.

[Riz carefully scoops up the Klefki in his hands, holding her up to Adaine.]

Seriously stubborn. Here, you try it.

[Not that... Adaine is much stronger than Riz, but who knows? Perhaps her clever, wizardly ways will find a way of undoing this hold that Riz is missing]

We can try bribing it, but I don't know if it cares about berries. There were berries in my briefcase, and it went for the key anyway.

[ Adaine takes the sleeping Pokemon in her hands, placing her fingers carefully on the ring, and tugging gently but firmly to try to open it, so she can free Riz's key. But it's all to no avail. She is stronger than Riz, sure, but she isn't about to pull on it hard enough to cause physical harm to a sleeping Pokemon, whether or not it's made of metal.

And besides, she rolled a 6 on her Strength check, anyway.

Giving up, she holds it back out for Riz to take. ]

Maybe it'll be better bribed with something else? A decoy key or something?

Have you attempted to capture it? Pardon if it seems like a silly question... I have found these creatures easier to handle post-defeat.

But this one seems particularly cantankerous, hm?

Maybe a treat will seduce it?

Sounds like you're going to have to train and bond with it for a bit, then, in order to get the key back.

[Keith shrugged. Honestly, that probably wasn't going to work very well.]

You could try bribing it. Figure out what it wants. Maybe some berries or some other kind of Pokémon treat.

Sandwiches seem to kind of be a thing here. Picnics. Maybe it wants you to make it a sandwich.

I didn't realise the keychains here were so aggressive.

Oh yeah, this one is captured. I didn't just want it getting off with my key, you know?

Unfortunately though that hasn't really made it any more willing to give back my key. And I wouldn't know what to bribe it with. There were berries in my bag, but it ignored those for the key.

Maybe, but the problem is, where are we gonna get one? We can't just use your jacket this time.

[Lets all mourn the loss of Adaine's incredible jacket of many things that has helped them all out so often.]

I know you are laughing at me behind your helmet.

It ignored the berries in my bag for the key. And trust me, there is never been anyone who has ever seen me prepare some food and been like 'I want in'.

[Everybody got these pathetic sensibilities about whether the food is expired or evenly cooked.]

[Though he's genuinely trying to think of a way to help, Boober has to admit he finds this a little funny. The instinct is to try and not laugh, not because this is Riz but because he himself is not a silly guy, really! But the humor creeps through in his tone of voice.]

Do you have anything else that's like a key you can offer it, that you wouldn't mind it keeping? Maybe it'd take that, and when it does, you can be quick and subtly grab your dorm key back. You are good at that kind of thing.

[It's in the same set of Riz's skills as his ability to pick locks, which is why Boober's not worried about Riz being key-less. He also figures Adaine's key works just as well.

Plus, he's a little distracted right now. He's sitting on his bed in his own dorm room, and barely on screen is a chubby orange forearm. The paw at the end keeps brushing up and down Boober's arm.]

Oh, or-- It looks like it's probably a steel type, and when that nasty Durant wouldn't leave the kitchen, people told me fire-type moves could be helpful. Of course, now Spicy and that awful little guy are always together, so that might not be as true as people think.

Still, it's worth trying to see if a weak fire attack would startle it into dropping the key. I guess that doesn't help you all that much, though. Does Adaine have any fire-type pokemon?

It seems like it likes you, at least. If you see another one, can you catch it for me?

[ Riz is right. Yet another situation that would have been solved with an item worth 10 gold pieces or less. RIP Jacket of Useful Things. ]

Well... We'll have to just bring it with us until we get back to town. It shouldn't be too much of a problem now that it's sleeping.

[ Of course, once it wakes up, Adaine will have to be sure to keep a watchful eye on her own keys. ]

How hard is it to- [Keith stopped himself there. He knew Shiro, after all. Food prep just wasn't for everyone, even something as simple as a sandwich. Shiro had set a salad on fire once... He let out a breath.] Okay... Well, did you try Stun Powder? Maybe if you stun it, it'll let go.

First we should do what we came here for though. I don't need to miss out on my keys and a good grade.

No go, unfortunately. We had the same idea and tried putting it to sleep. But somehow, even when completely out, it still holds on to those keys. I can't even see where the arms are supposed to open.

Listen, I'll see what I can do for you, but me and Adaine caught this one in another area. We're in the bamboo forest now. Unless you want me to catch you something cool here.
