[ In one of the Paldea dorms, there is a young preteen girl sitting at a desk, having set up the device to look at her. Her expression isn't... much, and her voice sounds flat. As she begins to speak, she repeatedly taps her fingers on the desk - those who have any knowledge of morse code will understand what she's "saying" there the same things she's speaking out loud. ]

This is a distress signal, calling for Scrooge McDuck or any one of his many... many... many associates. S.O.S. Violet Sabrewing reporting. I haven't been able to deduce if this kidnapping and subsequent hideous transformation is the work of any remaining members of F.O.W.L. or one of Mister McDuck's many... many... many enemies. Regardless, I will stay in place until further information is gathered about my situation and will appreciate a rescue post-haste. My fathers know that whenever I sleep over at Webbigail's, things tend to happen, but this may too much for them to handle.

Speaking of which - Webbigail, Lena, if you're hearing this, rest assured I am currently safe, albeit possibly traumatized by my transmogrification. I look forward to seeing you both as soon as possible. Dewford, Hubert, and Llewellyn, I trust the three of you to keep those two from going into homicidal revenge mode.

[ A pause, and then she moves to grab something from beneath the table... it's an Espurr! She props it on the table.]

On a less distressing note, any ideas on how to convince my fathers to let me keep this strange magic cat would be highly appreciated. I have named him Loki, after the Norse God of trickery. Say hello, Loki.

[ Loki says nothing, and just stares into the camera. o_o ]

Cool. I hope it is. He seems to be doing pretty well here.

Is that right? I would have thought, given his disposition and general reluctance for most adventures in general, he would have trouble adjusting to this situation.

Well, like I said, I don't know him very well. I don't know how much trouble he had adjusting. He could have been putting on an act of seeming to be fine with everything.

Now that is far more accurate, especially considering the transformation he also endured. I'll need to find him right away to offer comfort.

He's been here a long time by now, so even if he had trouble at first, he might have adjusted. But I'm sure he'd be happy to see you! He should be around here somewhere.

I'm going to need your definition of a "long time".

Oh, hmm, let's see. I've been here over two years. I can't remember if he was here when I got here, but then it must have been shortly afterwards. I got one of my first Pokemon from him. I think he went home and came back at one point, though? Time is pretty weird between the worlds. People who go home and come back have said time is standing still back home. I don't know if that's the case every time, but I haven't heard anything else.

Hmmm.

[ Now when she taps the desk, it isn't morse code, but just concerned thinking. ]

My concern only continues to grow. Time can be a dangerous construct and shouldn't be played with so easily.

... I pretty much agree with you, but have you personally had experiences with time?

My friends have, multiple times, and considering the extremely bizarre adventures I get involved with whenever I "hang out" with them, I'll probably experience it myself eventually. If you pardon the pun, it's only a matter of time.

You've probably got a point there. Well, at least things here are usually pretty peaceful, unless Team Rocket is causing trouble.

[He always tries to warn new Trainers about them.]

You can't just drop that factoid and not explain. Who and what is Team Rocket?

They're a criminal organization that likes to steal people's Pokemon. It doesn't seem like they're operating in this land, Paldea, but we're all just vacationing here for a while. The places where we're been living, Johto and Kanto, have been the targets of at least several of their plots.

How do we know this Team Rocket isn't behind this world-wide kidnapping plot?

It's an interesting thought, but then you'd think they'd put everyone to work for them. The way it is, they've gained a lot of new enemies instead. I have wondered if some of us might be working for them, but not all of us are. At least some of us have been targeted by them, and I think I heard about some parties where a lot of us were targeted.

There's a large difference between wisdom and intelligence. Simply put, they may be smart enough to have access to technology and magic that can kidnap a wide variety of people, but not smart enough to win us over to their side.

[Radley laughs.]

Okay, yeah, you might have something there. Most people figure it's the god of this world bringing everybody here, but I'm not sure there's any proof of it.

Until we have solid proof, a theory must remain a theory, and thus all possibilities must be explored to the fullest extent.

[Radley is intrigued. He wonders if this is an alternate Earth where everything has happened the same, more or less, except that it's populated by animals as the highest beings of intelligence instead of humans.]

He goes under a different name in my world, but yes, I assume they are the same character. I do love a good mystery novel, and it is difficult to deny the entertainment value of the classics.

What's his name in your world?

I like mysteries too. My friend Scotch loves them the most, though. He's always looking for secret passages in old buildings.
