Video 1: Oh God WHY CALI!?

The video rolls as though it were a nature documentary on some weirdo in a brightly colored outfit with hair to match and a plague doctor mask of all things. In her gloved hand is an Applin who isn't too pleased with this arrangement, he clearly would be much happier in a pokeball. Oh yes, the smell of a newbie that is doing uncomfortably well in this new environment. Like the happy-floppy phase of rabies, Cali goes up close to the camera for an uncomfortable close up with her new found Pokemon, Sweet Sixteen.

"Oh Hi! Hello! Is this a Pokemon I found?!" Good grief, her speech is too fast and high pitched, Sweet Sixteen not too keen on having his ear drums ruptured.

"Oh! A Tuppi is sort've like the PokeGear here, but modified to function out in space. They're nowhere near as nice as the PokeGear though." Cali explained in an upbeat manner and more than happy to explain what a Tuppi was.

Cali goes to watch Jotaro on how to use the PokeGear carefully, wanting to learn now that she knows this isn't the paradise planet Earth. If it weren't for the mask, you could tell Cali's eyes were lighting up at how neat the map feature was.

"I see, so that's the route! This is insanely cool! What's the next city called?"

"I see... So you're a space traveller?" Jotaro asks curiously. The ocean is his first love but Jotaro's always liked space. As his attire may suggest, he's always had an affinity for stars.

The man passes her PokeGear back and nods.

"Cherrygrove City," he repeats patiently, pointing to the next city with his finger. "Use these buttons your cursor around to look at the names of the City. It's relatively close, all things considered. After that, is Violet City which is much further away. You should stock up on supplies once you get to Cherrygrove."

"Not exactly, I used to live on a colony on the exoplanet, Orion 34. The magnetic field there is strong enough to mess up digital devices, so we tend to rely on analog devices like the Tuppi. I heard the Mars, Moon, and Europa colonies have a better luck with some digital, but I'm not entirely sure on the Venus colony." Cali answered in a casual, upbeat manner as though she was talking about the weather.

Cali perked up big time after learning on how to use the buttons on the PokeGear along with the city names, "Oh! Okay, so I want to be at Cherrygrove first, do you know if they carry self-cooking hotpots or ramen at the grocery stores there?"

"... Orion 34. Never heard of it. But I've heard of the others before... Sounds like you're from somewhere pretty advanced." Jotaro nods along, fascinated but accepting the new information for what it is. He's not one to emote much anyway. "Well, there are plenty of digital devices to get used to here. Thankfully, not too many though." He's never been a big tech guy himself.

"They'll carry ramen but the hotpots won't self-cook," Whatever that means. "You'll have to cook manually yourself. Will that be a problem?"

For once, Cali was stumped on something after her hyperactive entry: What year was this and they don't have self-cooking (sometimes labeled as self-heating) hot pots? It takes Cali a moment or two before she collects her rampaging thinking process before asking the question:

"I realized I forgot to ask and it's gonna sound super weird, but is this the year 2288?"

"It definitely isn't that year," Jotaro replied immediately. Well... that explained a lot. Not only was this girl from space but she was from the future. Lovely. "I'm not from here either but it was only 2012 when I was last in my world. The technology here is around that generation, maybe a bit more advanced. But that's it."

That answered one of Cali's questions how she managed to not get blasted into atoms by Earth's patrol forces. Though it did just confirmed that time travel as well as parallel universes are real things and not urban legends as her Mom would say. Upside, all of these mean that Cali received the best ever Medical School Graduation gift ever besides her license.

"Holy smokes, so I'm in an entirely different time? This is super awesome! What was 2012 like where you came from?" Yep, Cali is taking this news extremely well.

She is. Almost as well as Jotaro did learning that his daughter was three years older now despite him seeing her right before he got here. Jotaro stares at Cali for a long moment, as if to comprehend how she was so upbeat about things, before he snorts.

"Fine. Boring. Pretty comparable to here." Wow. Thanks JoJo... Even Orquesta gives Jotaro a disappointed look at how 'descriptive' he was. Jotaro catches the look and shrugs. " It's hard to talk about things you assume are normal."

"Oh my mistake, I'm excited because time travel and parallel universes are considered urban legends where I came from. To see that it's real is really amazing!" Cali happily explained, yep where she's getting this upbeat energy from is beyond even Sweet Sixteen's understanding.

Sweet Sixteen, on the other hand, looks very much like the parent that got dragged into Chuck E. Cheese's on a weekend and the alcohol there was all out of stock upon arriving. It truly had been a day for this Applin as he had no clue how to manage a super happy and hyper trainer like Cali. He had been hoping for an equally crusty old soul for a trainer, but alas, the PokeGod had other plans.

"It's fine to be excited. I just suppose it's not as thrilling for me... It's all speculation in my world too but it's never grabbed me in the same way," Jotaro says. He's far too old to do the spiel but he knows he doesn't have to. If someone else on the network doesn't fill Cali in, the Trainer's Guide 'Mom' provided in New Bark Town will.

Orquesta gives a sympathetic laugh. Too bad, Sweet Sixteen. Maybe she'll calm down in time, or you'll get a pep in your step.

"Shall we get you to Cherrygrove?"

Cali, oh Cali, didn't encounter Trainer Guide 'Mom' as she pretty much sped out of the house before meeting her. Good news is, Cali is eager to learn from Jotaro, "Oh man sure! Also, are you into science too?"

Sweet Sixteen gives Orquesta a very tired old man look of , 'I don't think this kid is gonna calm down and I'm like fifty four years old, I'm way passed getting that pep in my step.'

Oh dear. Hopefully, she still picked up the backpack with her starter kit. The guidebook is at least in there. Jotaro's a Breeder, not a Trainer like she is.

"I'm a marine biologist. I like studying the ocean and everything in it... There's so much unseen..." Jotaro softly smiles in the way he always does when he thinks of the ocean.

Orquesta chuckles loudly. "I wouldn't have guessed that you're older than my trainer. You don't look your age, gramps. Maybe you'll get peppy when you evolve. Evolutions does numbers for your energy levels." He would know! He's done it twice!

Thankfully, Cali managed to remember her backpack, likely out of habit. She does, however, perks up big time upon hearing that from Jotaro, "That's so cool! I've only heard stories about the ocean, what was it like being a marine biologist?"

Sweet Sixteen looks flattened by the chuckles, "Moisturizers does wonders kid. I don't think my pep will be back after evolving, though, it would mean my moves base will be able to grow, finally."

"Long months out in the ocean or in the lab. Travelling the world. Charting under the water great abysses and expanses. It's exciting in so many different ways. The ocean is like a completely different world, and the deep ocean is almost untouched by humans. It was an amazing job..." Better than the other half of his job that demanded him around the world. Jotaro had to deal with Stands for the Speedwagon Foundation as much as he did his work as a university professor. That part of the job was... less amazing.

"What moisturizers do apples use..." Orquesta mutters to himself, as if he actually knows what the hell a moisturizer is. He's a bird. He just wakes up like this, with fantastic feathers that he just needs to clean with his beak every now and again. "Oh? You don't get a lot of moves? I knew that JoJo's Applin doesn't have many but I thought it was just because they were a baby!"

"Woah that's really awesome! Marine Biologists are really cool, they get to do a lot of fun research projects. Did you get to see the whales there? I've only heard stories about them where I'm from, but they sound amazing to see in person." Cali was now fully invested in learning about the marine biology field, then again the ocean is always super awesome.

The strange thing about Applin is...they get moisture from the apple they live in the little weirdos and Sweet Sixteen wasn't any more different. He gives the much younger Pokemon a tired look, "Yeah like two, even Magikarp can easily kick our little Apple covered asses in battle. Though we can get three from a TM, but that's Attract and frankly kinda creepy."

"Yes, I got to see whales. They're a lot bigger in person. I was lucky to get up close to one," Jotaro says with a small smile. If Cali is serious about learning, he's happy to teach her about the ocean. "If you travel around here you'll see Wailord. They're the whales of this world.

Orquesta laughs. "Nah. It's turning the old charm on. Nothing wrong with learning how to flirt to get the advantage in battle!"

Cali is indeed eager to learn about the oceans as this was a fun treat to her, "I hope I can see Wailord soon, they sound amazing to see in person. What are the ocean research stations like here?"

Sweet Sixteen could only moan at this as he looks at Orquesta, "Only with those close to my age range, that I will be okay with."

"It's different to home from what I've seen but I'm not sure. I know there's one around Four Island that I have yet to visit..." Jotaro says as he keeps leading her through the route. Next to him, Jotaro's Pidgeot laughs, utterly amused.

"If that's what you want to do. Sure. Good luck trying to guess ages with other Pokemon. I struggle to guess ages even among other Pidgeys."

"Oh man, I'm excited to see what the research stations look like then. Back home, I know Earth has the underwater labs and then there's the scientist colony on Europa studying the aquatic life on there." Cali followed Jotaro along with route, her Applin only giving a disgruntled old man grunt at the laughter.

"It gets easier when you get older to tell 'em apart." Sweet Sixteen simply states like a tired old man he is.

"Wow. Those must be really interesting. We've yet to do deep space travel or long-term underwater research. Have you had the chance to visit one of those places?" Jotaro asks.

"That's fair. I'm in no rush to get older so I'll be happy just asking you to tell me, old man." Orquesta laughs.

"The aquatic life in Europa is really awesome, I have an illustrated book back home on them. I wished I had, but I think the closest I'd get would be the volunteer run to Orion 40, that one is mostly water with a few scattered islands. It was pretty cool as the lava from the volcanoes are blue, though t hey produce a pretty lethal gas if you're not masked up properly." Cali explained happily, following Jotaro along the route, thrilled to not be bombarded with conspiracy theories involving Europa.

"Trust me, it'll go by pretty fast, you enjoy it while you can kid." Sweet Sixteen wondered if he was ever that like that when he was young.

"... I hope if you ever recover that book in this world, you'll show it to me," Jotaro says, doing a miraculous job of seeming calm and not totally excited about a book about undocumented aquatic species. He listens and nods along to Cali. "I haven't heard of Orion 40. Which one is that?"

"Believe me, I will. But have you enjoyed your life? Have you ever gone flying? You haven't enjoyed life until you've flown," the Pidgeot says with a mischievous grin.

"I would be more than happy to show you, it's such a great book on the aquatic life there and the illustration work is gorgeous." Cali cheered a bit at being able to share something in the future if the book is recovered at some point.

It takes Cali a bit before starting up on the question, "Oh, Orion 40 is one of the exile planet colonies, there's like seven existing colonies including Orion 34 where I lived on."

"I'd rather not, I get air sick rather easily." Sweet Sixteen admitted, he has a delicate little tummy that didn't like flight.

"Ah, I see. Is it in a different galaxy to Earth?" Must not be a planet or moon he's familiar with then.

"Awww... shame. Well, I'm not going to hang around. I'm going to start flying ahead, see how much further it is to Cherrygrove City."

"It is, they're a chain of planets in a different solar system than Earth's. Though, I haven't seen the Orions' sun before due to the thick cloud coverings." Cali explained in that happy and casual fashion, this was completely normal to her.

Sweet Sixteen could only watch as Orquesta flies off to see if they're any closer to Cherrygrove City. This day has already been a long enough one for the old salty apple dragon.
