Action: Employment, Ziggy Staryu, and Onion Fairy Shrines! Oh My!~

When: Backdated to March 18th - March 31st
Summary: Cali gets her first job in the Pokemon World as a medical assistant! We spend the week with Cali as she works at the Azalea Town Pokemon Center before getting her first paycheck and starts making her way to Goldenrod! First things first though, she has to travel through Ilex Forest >:3c (ooc: I’m gonna step out of my comfort zone a bit and allow threadjumping to see how well it goes.)

A. Applying for the Medical Assistant Job (March 18th) :D

The big day finally arrived for Cali as she arrived to the Azalea Town Pokemon Center, her first job application :D Sweet Sixteen from the backpack makes a low gator-like hissing sound of displeasure of being in a Pokemon Center as Chantilly just watches in awe of the grumpy pie dragon. Truly, nothing can possibly go wrong here…right…RIGHT?

B. Working Nine to Five~ (March 19th-26th)

Cali got the job :D For the whole week she’s there in Azalea Town, Cali is seen to be helping out in the Pokemon Center with her Indeedee, Battenberg. Sweet Sixteen, Truffles, and Chantilly are safely back at the hotel (Sweet Sixteen is still scared of Chanceys and Chantilly is scared of being recruited to the Woodland war Swarm :x) Let’s see how Cali’s first week as a medical assistant at a Pokemon Center goes…

C. Jump Magic Jump~ (Ilex Forest Shenanigans March 27-31)

With that sweet delicious paycheck in, Cali is off to Goldenrod! Of course, as all new trainers have to do, she must go through the Ilex Forest! Whoever is traveling with Cali through it gets to enjoy ghost stories, the campiest of camp songs ever, visiting the Onion Fairy Shrine, and apparently being followed around by this world’s equivalent to David Bowie, Ziggy Staryu!? (Nah it’s a Zorua, but it’s a Zorua with a very good taste in musicians though!) Let’s see if Cali can get through to Goldenrod City or if she ends up partying with the Ziggy Staryu Zorua at the Onion Fairy Shrine?

"It looks like you have a new friend, Cali-kun~" Rui says as a greeting. He's been paying his respects at the shrine, as he does anytime he passes through. Though rather than paying attention to his friend, he's looking over her shoulder at the Ziggy Staryu Zorua in amusement.

Cali was placing some candy bars at the shrine as an offering after hearing the locals mention it earlier before looking over to Rui, "Oh man, we do Rui?"

Upon seeing the Ziggy Staryu Zorua looking about in the background, he gave a cheeky smile before bowing and disappearing into the background, Cali looks like she's seen a deity of the musical sort, "Holy smokes, that looked like David Bowie!"

"You're right. But surely he wouldn't have been brought here, would he?" If Cali is from a future where the moon is inhabited, its not an impossibilty, but surely there would've been a sighting before this point.

"Right? Like I would've expected to see Bowie out in cities or stages.." Cali was floored by the wild Bowie Sighting as the Ziggy Staryu Zorua draws a hand out from the forest to beckon them to follow.

"Oh my~ It looks like we're going on an adventure~" Rui states as he sees the hand beckoning them. He follows along, ready for whatever adventure or misadventure may be in store for them.

"I guess we are, let's see what David Bowie is trying to show us." Cali cheerily said as she followed Rui into the forest to follow the Ziggy Staryu Zorua to heaven knows where.

Sweet Sixteen grumps at the sudden detour in the woods like Chantilly is hiding in Cali's hair for this magical forest adventure.

Rui only has one of his Pokemon out of their ball right now. His Dedenne, Roger, is sitting on his shoulder, whiskers twitching excitedly.

"Surely something worthy of someone like himself~" Rui guesses. He has no idea really, but he's excited to find out. He keeps his focus on the Ziggy Staryu Zorua rather than where they've been, because he's also excited to get lost at the end of this.

He doesn't have problems.

"Absolutely, I wonder what David Bowie is going to show us?" Cali keeps up with Rui pretty well as they both follow the Ziggy Staryu imposter deeper into the woods.

Chantilly is glancing over to Rodger to see what he's reaction is to the whole situation as Rui and Cali come upon a clearing. Darn it, Ziggy Staryu disappeared again, but in the clearing is a spilled over backpack with CDs and a Walkman CD player with a little note on there...

Roger is excitedly looking around from his perch, and when they come to the clearing, he jumps off Rui's shoulder to run around and look at everything. Rui follows behind, making sure he doesn't step on any of the CDs on the ground. He may want to listen to some of them.

"How mysterious~" Rui hums, rifling through the backpack, "What does the note say?"

Chantilly isn't wanting off of the safety of Cali's shoulder as Sweet Sixteen grunts to be let loose from the backpack to investigate himself. As Cali lets Sweet Sixteen loose, she looks over the in universe CDs of all of Ziggy Staryu's albums, picking up the note.

"Huh? It reads 'Needs more batteries.'" Cali scratches her head a bit on that one...

Rui sets down the CDs he was looking at and starts rifling through his bag. "I have just the thing. Can you hand it over here?"

He does keep some spare batteries for a flashlight on him, he hopes they're the right size.

Cali goes to handing the CD player over to Rui, "Sure thing, let's see if we can get the player back up and going."

sure enough, the batteries are a match for the CD player as it starts playing 'Young Unovan' immediately once the power was back on. There is a high pitch snickering sound in the forest, somewhere close by.

Rui smiles as the music starts playing. Hopefully this makes their mysterious travel companion happy.

He calls out to the forest, "We've fixed it, if you'd like to come out and join us~"

Roger scurries over to the CD player and looks at it with a curious head tilt.

Henry has been working as a receptionist on the Pokemon Center Warp Circuit for a while now. His whole thing is being willing to warp at a moment's notice to anywhere that's understaffed and today, that just so happened to be the Azalea Town Pokemon Center.

The warp pad lets out a futuristic humming sound and then, in a flash, Henry Townshend is there in his scrubs. He's rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he slips his Poke'Gear into a pocket and makes his way around the counter. Henry nods a little greeting to the Chansey and pauses when he notices the riot of color that is Cali.

Henry has learned most of the employees at least by face if not by name, and he would have remembered Cali. She must be new. Henry remembers being new and how nerve-wracking it was, so when he taps the module to sign in, he gives her a little wave.

"Hey there..."

Cali had been checking in on potions run before noticing Henry and her thinking goop went into 'Oh boy new friend!' mode as she goes to greet him in a cheery fashion, "Hello!"

Oh man Henry, yeah you're being greeted by a tiny rainbow bright plague doctor that is honestly insanely bubbly for a newbie..dang...where is she getting all this energy from? The sun? Following right behind her is a shiny Indeedee that has an apron on for assisting Cali during her first run of being a medical assistant in a Pokemon center. The Indeedee gives Henry a friendly nod and smile as she catches up to Cali.

Her burst of energy nearly blows his hair back. It's a bit of a relief though, it doesn't seem like he'll need to do much reassuring. He's not the best at it despite how chill he normally seems.

"I don't think I've seen you at this Center before."

"Yep, I'm new and my first day on the job! I'm Calliope, but everyone calls me Cali for short." Cali happily offered a hand to shake as she greeted Henry, yep, this is indeed a little Miss Sunshine right there holy smokes.

A Chansey is pushing a cart with a rather adorable Vaporeon on there for check up as it gives a rather sweet trill like sound as it passes by Henry and Cali...yeah the booger is trying to sweet talk out of getting a check up.

"Nice to meet you, Cali. I'm Henry, I work the circuit."

He takes her hand and gives her a polite shake. He internally pats himself on the back for being so social. When he first arrived in Johto, he clammed up as often as his Shellder.

Henry shuffles aside to allow the Chansey and her cart through. When the Vaporeon calls to them, he's reminded of Envy's Vaporeon, Juliet when she is trying to win him over. He guesses it's a common trait.

It must be as she's clearly laying on the 'I'm an innocent little angel sent here against my will, please let me off this trolly' act as Cali's shiny Indeedee gives a gentle tug on Cali's skirt to gain her attention. It looks like...the Chanseys are gonna need help with the Vaporeon as she decided to go full blob mode and flops on the trolly, refusing to get those ears checked.

"It's wonderful to meet you too Henry, it's going to be awesome working together...and I didn't know Vaporeons could do that..." Cali said in a bit of shock upon seeing the floppy blob Vaporeon giving protests about the ear checks.

Henry watches all this play out and shakes his head.

"They're very dramatic Pokemon." He momentarily glances over at the door when the chime goes off. "Let me know if you have any questions--I'm not a nurse, but I can help you find things."

Henry wouldn't be too far off as it turns into something pretty comedic as the Chanseys are having a hard time getting a good hold of that Vaporeon as she slips out of their little paws. A true drama queen at its finest as Cali got to watch the whole struggle to get those little Vaporeon ears checked. Yep...Cali and Battenberg are sure in for a real treat with that one. Though, I wonder who could be coming into the Pokemon Center...

"Holy smokes...yeah that's pretty dramatic..those poor Chanseys.." Cali couldn't help but agree with that one...just the blobby adorableness of a prima donna Vaporeon.

Henry glances around. None of the human nurses are nearby. In fact, it's just Henry, Cali, the Pokemon, and a person who came in and sat over at the rest area.

Well...somebody's gotta help those Chansey!

"Hmm...okay, let's see..." Henry approaches the troubled Pokemon and reaches out to gently pat it on the back. "Hey now..."

Cali and Battenberg goes to join in on trying to calm down the Vaporeon as she gives Henry the 'Please human, don't let them check my little ears! I am too fragile a flower for this!' baby trill like sound with eyes to match, though you can tell she's planning to make a run for it.

The Chanseys are absolutely grateful for help coming as...this Vaporeon is a very slippery little lady!

"Hey there, let's see what we can do to calm you down.." Cali kept her voice soft and gentle for the Vaporeon, but Vaporeon isn't having any of it.

Henry sees those big big watery eyes and while he is moved, he's ued to Envy's Vaporeon. So, he does what he knows best--he reaches into one of his scrub pockets and produces a little pouch of cheese crackers he was saving for his break. He tears open one corner and fishes one out.

Then, he holds it out for her to sniff. "If you're good, you can have more."

The Vaporeon sniffs a bit at the cheese crackers and debates this offer big time, that is a high value treat right there. Slowly and reluctantly reforms to a solid form with a gruff kitty chuff, the Vaporeon is behaving now for the Chanseys to do their job with the ear exam.

Cali is fully impressed by how Henry pulled that off, "That was amazing dude, how'd you know it'd work?"
