A Volt From The Blue
The perfect storm, in all senses of the phrase, starts slowly. Though thunder begins to roll on Saturday evening, and the sky is already dripping with rain, the weather isn't anything unusually bad at first. There are distant flashes in the clouds, but no dramatic lightning strikes reaching toward the ground, and the rain is still light enough that holding your bag or jacket over your head will do in a pinch. Duckletts splash in puddles, people pull out umbrellas, and everyone gets on with their day. This all changes overnight. The storm intensifies, until the air is practically buzzing with static, and... as everyone begins waking up on Sunday morning, they'll find that there's a preponderance of Electric Pokemon in the streets and the wilds, apparently drawn out by the storm. It dwarfs even the swarms of Electric Pokemon that appeared earlier in the month, and the variety is (pardon the pun) truly shocking - Mareep, Electrike, and Blitzle race through the streets, Tynamo and Stunfisk splash across flooded Routes, Voltorbs spin madly down roads, and the ever-popular Pikachus peek out of every other bush. They're all very trigger-happy, too, quick to start battles or even outright attack passerby if sufficiently startled!
The worst is yet to come, though...
The Walking Diode
It starts happening partway through Sunday, though it may take a bit longer for people to catch on. A Trainer ends up in a Pokemon Center after they and their Prinplup get well and properly zapped by an Electivire. After everyone is looked over, they clap the attending Nurse Joy on the shoulder in thanks over the counter, zapping her with residual static, and then wander out the door. All the while, they act oddly insistent about meeting everyone with a proper handshake and exuberant greeting.Nurse Joy, back behind the counter, is... well, every Nurse Joy always finds Pokemon health important! That's the reason they've all become nurses! But as the day goes on, she grows more and more intense about questioning trainers about how they're feeding and training their Pokemon, and whether they're carrying enough Antidotes on them for every eventuality, and whether they're pushing their Pokemon too hard if they had to come in for healing. If someone doesn't answer her, her smile begins to twitch. And meanwhile, though her hands are as gentle with Pokemon as always, she can't seem to stop shocking them with static the first time she touches one.
Similar scenes play out all over Johto and Kanto. Bug Catchers chase other Trainers down, exclaiming facts about Bug Pokemon and practically throwing their Weedles at people. Cyclists and Roller Skaters pedal and skate furiously, uncaring of nearly mowing people down. Bodybuilders and Dojo Students passionately challenge people they think are out of shape. Ruin and Hex Maniacs... well, okay, they've always been kind of intense.
The weirdest thing is this: if you mention out loud that you've miraculously avoided being cornered by an Electric Pokemon during this mass outbreak, a number of people nearby will instantly turn their heads toward you, their eyes slightly glazed...
Current Trends
The storm continues. But toward the end of the week, the problem is clearly widespread enough and serious enough that the Elite Four are forced to intervene. They - and various Elite Four staff and Gym Leaders - appear in towns over Kanto and Johto, bringing with them crack teams of Ground Pokemon! (Aurora League members: your mailboxes and Gears may be receiving requests to also assist!)The work is made chaotic and strenuous by members of the task force also getting struck by lightning and starting to act strange - though, sometimes, their odd behavior is actually helpful when it makes them take their job even more seriously and with greater energy. Regardless, after a big push on Saturday, nearly all the Electric Pokemon are driven back out to the wilds and away from public Routes. A week after the affliction began, people affected drift back to their senses, shaking off their strange compulsions and left very confused by how they were acting.
(Okay, except those Hex and Ruin Maniacs.)
Though the rain continues, the beginning of the following week is calm. In the last days of March, Lance makes a brief appearance on the news, announcing very "regretfully" that he and the rest of the Elite Four were planning to organize this year's Prom again... but now they're going to be too busy cleaning up after this mess and making sure all the Electric Pokemon have returned to their appropriate habitats. Riegfried and Soy have kindly offered to take the event off his hands, and so Prom will still be taking place - but it's going to be delayed. They need time to prepare a proper shindig, after all! Keep an eye out for it sometime in summer instead.
OOC NOTES
- Any Electric Pokemon available in Victory Road normally are swarming, and can show up whether or not you're in their usual availability location.
- Trainers who are zapped - either by an Electric attack, a static shock by someone else affected, or even an outright lightning strike - will start feeling compelled to focus on one specific thought that's important to them, and act accordingly to enforce or exemplify it. The longer they're affected, the worse this compulsion gets!
- This focus can be very broad or very narrow! For example, "Honesty is important," "Trainers should treat their Pokemon well," and "I hate it when people chew with their mouths open." are all possible focuses. A character who is focused on honesty may feel compelled to only tell the truth during this event... and also, to grow hostile if they believe they're encountering dishonesty!
- In addition, characters who are affected will feel compelled to share their affliction with others somehow - whether zapping them with a static shock or leading them into a situation where they'll otherwise be hit with lightning.
- Characters who follow their compulsions will feel energized (and thus more able to continue)! Character who resist will find themselves becoming listless and exhausted.
- Pokemon can also be affected.
- Everyone affected will find themselves recovering as the storm begins to die down on the following weekend, though the rain will continue for several more days.
- Please consider the most recent CR MEME if you’d like to make more specific plans!

Calliope Macabre | Original Character | OTA
It looked like an easy enough job, the add that Rui and Cali saw looked like a pretty straight forward one, keep the lighthouse lit and guiding ships safely while they search for Ampharos. Rui and Cali even had the electric type Pokemon for the job at hand with Wattson and Meringue. The Pokemon were working together pretty well, Meringue using Electro Web while Wattson used Flash to help keep the Lighthouse illuminated, taking turns so the Pokemon didn't exhaust themselves.
Periodically, during the trading of the shifts, Cali would put on Videos for the working Pokemon to watch while they relax with, Billigan's Island, Chantilly's favorite as well as most Pokemon apparently. Truly, a nice easy job having their Pokemon bond with one another. That was until the Pokemon got into a sibling like spat with one another over keeping the Lighthouse lit...is that the sound of wings coming close? It's coming Closer and closer and-
....OMGGGGGG! IN COMES A HUNGRY CRAMORANT! The Gulp Pokemon comes crashing in through one of the Lighthouse's window, its hungry eyes on Wattson and Meringue for the gulping. That certainly did stop the fight between the two Pokemon for sure with a threat coming towards them. It's like a Comedy of Errors except with Pokemon and everything that could go wrong with taking care of the lighthouse. TIME FOR A POKEMON BATTLE TO KEEP THE LIGHTHOUSE LIT..
B. Dark Skies Fall on (March 21st - March 22nd, Olivine City Pokemon Center)
The day after the Lighthouse quest, Cali is back to work at the Olivine Pokemon Center! Good news, she has shelter! Bad news, Cali is stranded at the Pokemon Center with both patients and those seeking emergency shelter filling in the space. Then again, this would likely be viewed as good news to the neon candy colored cheery plague doctor! It's like a massive slumber party with new friends to be made and...goodness, why is a good chunk of folks and their Pokemon so odd? How odd..how weird.
1. Action: First day on the job in the Olivine Pokemon Center and everything seems fine...almost! The storm coming in sure seems pretty strong, but Cali doesn't seem too worried for the most part as she carries on her job as a medical assistant at the Pokemon Center. It doesn't seem too bad, really, sure some folks and their Pokemon are acting a bit weird, but then again who isn't weird? Plus, free warm drinks and sleeping area for the duration of the storm? ITS A GOOD DEAL!
However, it's strange, like super strange, it seems like if you look away one moment, there seems to be another Shinx or Luxio roaming the center. Maybe they're getting a popularity boost? Cali seems to think so anyways when she notices the sudden influx of Shinx and Luxio in the Pokemon Center...are those glowing eyes outside the window?
"Hey little guy, where'd you come from?" Cali chirped as a Shinx paws a bit at her leg for attention...
2. Video: A video starts up with Cali in the Pokemon Center sleeping area, Sweet Sixteen is pacing back and forth, looking moodier than normal. There's that grumbly old man sound that Sweets has been known to make as Alfinse and Chantilly watch on in awe of their favorite old timer. Sweets is not happy with being in the Pokemon Center, especially with the CHANSEYS lurking about the halls like wraiths. There's an odd sound though that seems to reverberate in Sweets's throat before opening his mouth with something that sounds like...
"WHISKEY!!"
Cali goes to turn the camera back to herself after managing to capture that new quirk development from her grumpy starter. Clearly...Sweets has been learning and he learned a whole new word on his own after a year of being read to by Cali. Chantilly and Alfinse are sort've shocked looking from the sudden word that definitely wasn't Pokemonese! Will the old grumpy apple pie dragon turn into a human again like before during that one weird week? A shudder goes down Alfinse's and Chantilly's spin upon recalling that incident.
"Okay, so is this normal? Sweets just started doing that a half hour ago and it comes out in periodic bursts..." Cali was at a lost for what to do about Sweet Sixteen and his sudden ability to demand a certain alcoholic drink.
Huh...? Weird the PokeGear video is glitching a bit and...is that a mischievous smile in the snow? Oh no...
C. Clouds Now Close Over Me (March 23rd - March 25th)
Okay so maybe this epic and amazing slumber party wasn't as it all appeared it would be. People sure were fighting a lot now, especially now the threat of Luxray wasn't looming over head like before, but at least they were in the Pokemon Center. It was one of the better places to be stranded in given the circumstances.
1. Action (Pokemon Only): With Sweet Sixteen still being super duper weird and Cali...somehow she's even more cheerier than before(?), Chantilly and Alfinse decide to find a safe space while the humans are being about as weird as the old apple pie dragon. First plan of action, locate the vending machine and raid it for the delicious crunchy snacks before hunting down a place to barricade themselves in. Best laid plans of two very bored Pokemon stuck with a much more weirder old man Pokemon and even weirder humans.
MOMENTS LATER...
If any surviving Pokemon passing by where to witness it, they'll see a Buizel frantically trying to get a small Buneary out of the vending machine...so much for the best laid plans...Chantilly could use the help for escaping the prison of the vending machine...
2. Video: (CW for Mental Effects) Somehow...SOMEHOW Cali is cheerier and more upbeat than she already was as the PokeGear is fired up. Before Cali is a battery powered camping stove with a pot and to the side, ingredients to make curry with...and that is one huge egg! That must have been from one of the Chansey's at the Pokemon center to feed everyone stuck here. There seems to be some visible static coming off of Cali...oh no...
Sweet Sixteen can be heard grumping his usual old man sounds mixed with the typical Appletun sounds and 'Whiskey' whenever he wants attention or a blanket to cover up in. Cali is beaming a smile behind her plague doctor mask as she goes to make the intro:
"Hey everyone! Who wants to do a cook along during this super amazing sparkle storm? I'll be making this egg curry I've been hearing about online for lunch today with Sweet Sixteen~"
"Hiiiisssssss..." is all Sweets can say to that part.
D. Rains Wash the Earth Away (March 26th - March 28th)
1. Action: (CW for Mental Effects and one very hyper Cali) THANK ARCEUS FOR THE ELITE FOUR AND GYM LEADERS COMING TO THE RESCUE! Chantilly and Alfinse are going to be just thrilled with having Cali and Sweet Sixteen being back to normal-ish again soon! They just need to sit back, relax, and avoid being zippity zapped by the
zombiestrainers and their Pokemon!Though....whoever is in the Olivine Pokemon Center that managed to escape the Zippity Zapping Plague may wanna start running or hiding..Cali has gotten her sugar fix in and the insane levels of hyperactive energy has DOUBLED as she looks for others to hug in a high energy cheerful fashion! Its like seeing a rainbow trail behind Cali from the sugar rush she's going through...Thankfully Sweet Sixteen's amplified grumpiness has made him rather stationary in his little makeshift box bed...though you may get a weird 'Whiskey' sounding hiss from him.
2. Video: Hooray! Cali is back to normal levels of cheerfulness instead of the well...let's not even mention that one! Sweets is still a grumpy old man, but at least he's done hissing at everyone and everything ever! Alfinse and Chantilly proved to be very good at surviving outbreaks like the little survivalists they are apparently as they're now back with Cali. Both Pokemon seem pretty relieved with things going back to normal...they earn a treat after that one.
"Woah, so that was a wild storm. Everyone doing okay after that?" Yep, Cali is definitely back to being her normal self again.
E. Storms Have Come! (Wildcard) Please feel free to slide something else in, PM me on my Character Journal, or hit me up with a PP over on
Henry Townshend | Silent Hill 4 | OTA
You feel like...someone is watching you. Out in the rain. In the safety of a store. Somehow closer still. A keen eye will spy this mysterious presence. And it is...just a regular looking guy in a rain coat. He holds an expensive looking camera and his long Jesus hair and beard are fizzled slightly from static. He says nothing, even as he meets your eye and snaps the picture.
Beetlejuice | Beetlejuice the Musical | OTA
He needs to put down the typewriter and scare some people.
So, that is exactly what Beetlejuice does. He lurks in the alleyways, presses his face to windows, skulks in the shadow of the chip aisle, just waiting for the perfect time to pounce. And of course his Pokemon are there to back him up. Marley the shiny Haunter and Dave the Mimikyu are in tow, though Dave is still a little hesitant. His Zebstrika waits in the wings in case things turn ugly. NOT THAT THEY WILL, Beetlejuice assures himself, but hey the zebra wanted to stretch his legs, it's fine, it's fine.
If there's one thing the ghoul is competent in, it's timing. He lays in wait for the perfect moment before springing into action. And where are you?
Dolly Mancer | Original Character | OTA
Out of precaution and the fact that there were flood warnings from the weather folks, Dolly made the decision to shelter in Viridian City at an Inn with her Pokemon. This was definitely a very good call given...look at all the Shinx, Luxio, and Luxrays roaming the streets and Sweet Mac Lir knows where else. The scent of Ozone and static electricity is strong in the air...yep this one is going to be a major storm. Groceries have been taken care of, though, some weirdo at the PokeMart ran off with a large quantity of moo-moo milk and bread...what a weird thing to do before a massive storm. At least it wasn't all the toilet paper...
1. Action (Closed to Beetlejuice): Taking advantage of somewhat normal weather, Dolly rushes out with her Pokemon and the terribly wayward Banette she got stuck with for the Wynaut House! It's everything one would expect from the normal Waffle House on Earth but with the edition of a pretty adorable Wynaut mascot carrying waffles on top of its head. A waffle hat if you would! A part of Dolly wondered if they had waffle hats for Pokemon to wear...the temptation of dressing her Fidough up with that hat was a strong one.
Right, focus on getting seated at a booth with six Pokemon since Dart refused to eat at a Wynaut House...OH! There's an open booth as Dolly goes to loading in her Pokemon and her surprise roommate for the storm into the seats. There, everything is going well....oh no...The whimsigoth scarecrow grins upon being given the crayons..
Dolly is distracted with trying to convince the naughty wonder from committing diner graffiti, leaving herself opened for a surprise visit...
2. Video: Dolly is back safely at the Inn and has her Pokemon out while dinner is cooking. It looks like Dolly made some toys for her Pokemon to play and train with for the upcoming Pokemon match, a pretty clever way of combining the nature of play with training in mind. Dolly's Pokemon for the most part are very much enjoying this arrangment.
Though, that wasn't the real focus of the video...oh no, the focus is on this incredibly scruffy Banette that looks like a cross between a scarecrow and whimsigoth aesthetics. That one at the moment is getting Dolly's own Banette, Dart, annoyed and angry at this moment, making some annoyed sounds like a pestered older sister would make. Clearly Dart is a very high class and fashionable princess, how dare this scruffy wonder pick on her!!
"Has anyone been looking for or missing their Banette? I found this one wandering the alleys earlier and got them in before the storm hits. Pretty sure this one has a naughty nature given the interactions so far with Dart.."
B. Tearing me Apart Like a New Emotion (March 21st - March 22nd)
Storms beginning and goodness, the weather folks certainly weren't exaggerating one bit about this one being the storm of the year! Buckets of water comes crashing down, Blueberry, Dolly's Popplio, is absolutely thrilled for her first storm! LOOK AT ALL THE WATER DOLLY! BLUEBERRY WANTS GO OUT AND PLAY IN THIS! PLEEEEAAAASE?!? ...yep, Blueberry is definitely full of wanting to play in the storm...Dolly is saying no to this, they have a tub she can fill with water at the room. Sorry Blueberry, no playing in the murder storm for you.
1. Action: Breakfast time and it's a full blown storm outside, grand, best morning Dolly could hope for as she heads down to the lobby. Dolly had heard there was a continental breakfast station set up in the lobby for those who had to make an emergency booking at the last minute or simply didn't want to risk the bad weather. Some of the guests at the inn though seem a bit more tense, even downright awful to some degrees...the fabled PokeKaren is there with her absolutely 'perfect', cannot do anything wrong ever Pedigreed Ratata nestled in her arms giving the stink eye. There's a sundry list of absurd demands coming from PokeKaren with her Ratata trying to climb up on the table to get at the meal items. It's a disaster in the makings...
"So..wanna take bets on how long she'll be here until being booted from the inn?" Dolly whispers over to whoever is close by as she watches the circus performance known as PokeKaren.
2. Video: Dolly is holed up in her room with her Pokemon and the scruffiest Banette in all of Kanto ever as the PokeGear is fired up. Looks like Dolly had to barricade the doors and reinforce them as the roars of Luxury can be heard in the hallway. It's likely because someone decided that little Shinx was a stray cat Pokemon that needed to be brought in...the fool! Now there is an angry parent Luxray hunting down their wayward progeny inside of the Inn. Just...where could that little Shinx be at? Clearly that lion cub looking Pokemon is having a field day with having the entire inn as a playground at the moment....the sound of paws echoing...oh Stellar Sea the Shinx is in the ventilation system...
"....I think I'm screwed." Dolly somehow managed to get even paler than she normally is, a perfect tint of printer paper white as the sound of the tiny paws gets louder oh dear...
C. Raining in my Head like a Tragedy (Action) (March 24th - March 25th)
So, this might very well be the Pokemon zombie apocalypse: Electric Type Edition! Dolly has pretty much started boarding up the inn room with her Pokemon and the ever so naughty Banette she found to stay safe. It's fine! Totally fine, nothing to fear! JUST KEEP HER POKEMON AND HERSELF SAFE FROM BEING ZIPPITY ZAPPED....Spring time is definitely a cursed season and nothing is going to change Dolly's mind on the matter. It...it definitely has some Invasion of the Body Snatchers vibes going on inside of the Inn...Dolly blames PokeKaren and her horrid Ratata for spreading the infection around.
Good news was that her Pokemon have been doing alright, safely playing with one another while this absolutely bizarre occurrence is going on with the outside world. Trying to take her mind off things, Dolly goes to focus on baking savory cookies to go with the tomato soup for lunch later on. The walls seem to be pretty thin at the inn since she could hear a lot of the inn guests having a time outside the room...maybe it was worth a shot?
"Hey, you doing aright?" Dolly goes to try communicating with whoever is on the otherwise of the Inn's wall. Maybe someone else was surviving this weirdness too?
D. I Want to Breathe in the Open Air (Video) (March 28th) CW: for Mental Changes..Okay maybe not mental changes but it is Dart in general...
So....That sure is a thing to watch both on the PokeGear and outside the window of the Elite Four as well as the Gym Leaders coming out to deal with the Electric Type PokeApocalypse going on. Babylon and Avalon were placed on food freezing duty due to their Powder Snow move as Dolly prepares for the moment they can finally leave the inn and flee from the insanity. There are still plenty food leftover though that's left unfrozen to heat up to eat before FINALLY escaping the Zombie Inn.
The only things left unpack were the toys, the Pokemon had to be kept amused one way or another until then. Oddly though, the Banette Dolly found is being helpful for a change with helping with packing up for the travel ahead. Either this Banette felt bad about being the naughtiest Pokemon ever in the PokeWorld or likewise, wanted out of this mayhem riddled inn. Either one is a very good guess for the most part.
Dart, the ever dramatic and fashionable Banette she is, has gotten into the PokeGear while Dolly is distracted with getting things prepared for fleeing the moment the Electric Pokemon have been driven back into the wild. It looks like a rant video for Pokemon, sure it's a bunch of 'Ban Banettes' to the human listener, but the vibes of a rant is still there. It would periodic cut between the ever annoying new Banette in the room and towards the window where the Pokemon battles are going on....why is there static snow coming in on the PokeGear...oh no...not again..
A HALF HOUR LATER
Guess who had to barricade herself and most of her Pokemon in the bathroom? Dolly did! Sure, Dolly may have caught herself a Rotom, but...yeah Dart didn't avoid the zippity zapping plague going around. With the PokeGear on the table, it's capturing Dart attempting what looks like a make up tutorial, by that it means Dart is gluing on rhinestones onto her face for the extra *glam* factor and sewing antique keys onto the horns as though they were earrings.
"Please tell me it gets better..." Dolly can be heard calling from the restroom safety zone.
E. Here it comes Again! (Wildcard) Please feel free to slide something else in, PM me on my Character Journal, or hit me up with a PP over on
Jack Skellington | The Nightmare Before Christmas
Hello, everyone! Isn't the weather perfectly dreadful? Well, I know not everyone enjoys a thunderstorm, so I've decided to do a stream for anyone who needs company. Let me tell you about my newest Wailmer pail.
[ He holds up said pail. It's an ordinary looking watering pail themed to look like a little Wailmer. If you've been watching carefully, you may see them poking in around the edges of the frame, cluttered on every flat surface, and varying in sizes from something far too large to be picked up and poured to something that would only fit a thimble's worth of water in it. Wailmer pails of every shape and color.]
This one is a slightly different blue!
[Jack doesn't even have a garden.]
