Howdy, everybody! This is just to announce that the Goldenrod Flower Shop is having a Valentine's Day sale! Our red roses are thirty percent off, and everything else is twenty percent off. [He smiles, adjusting a bouquet of pink lilies.] I'm happy to help come up with a good flower arrangement if anyone would like - there are many great gifts to give besides roses.

We can also do deliveries, within a reasonable distance. The flowers don't take well to much travel.

[Though she didn't know where she might be able to grow them, Anthy couldn't help but ask. She's in her pink dress-suit and white beret, perched on the fence near the gate to Route 35, and the Aipom seated comfortably on her shoulder held the 'gear out in front of both of them with his tail. Both are smiling rather kindly, and...genuinely?]

I know it's not the season to plant them, but I would like to hold onto them until it's right.

[He seems a little hesitant at first, but smiles when she acknowledges it isn't the right season for planting. That's good, then, he won't have to explain.]

Only a few varieties, I'm afraid, since it is winter. Are you looking for something in particular?

[Explain gardening to her? Now that'd be funny. She would've humored him, though.]

I was hoping for rose seeds. Particularly white ones.

[Well, that's sort of his literal job now. Which is awesome and a lot more fun than being a king, if he's being completely honest.]

Yes, we have some of those! Can you come by, or would you like some delivered to you?

I can try to visit today. Junior and I aren't too far from Goldenrod City. Where exactly is the store?

It is right next to the Gym! You should be able to find that easily, it seems like the Gyms are very important to everyone.

Oh yes! I have heard of the Gyms. I'm not really interested in those, but I think I can find it, and then the store.

[Flowers are much more interesting than her little friends fighting.]

The Leader, Whitney, is a very nice girl, but I have never spent much time there. Only one of my Pokemon really enjoys battling. There are a lot of signs showing the way, though - it is somewhere most visitors go sooner or later.

We do! There are always people coming in to buy a victory bouquet for their friends...and Whitney enjoys flowers as well. Especially after a loss...

[so really someone getting a gym badge is awesome for them? Asgore actually feels sorry for Whitney - she seems young, and even though losing occasionally is part of a gym leader's job, it can't be very fun.]

That sounds like a very sweet gift for either occasion. You must know an awful lot about flowers, to work at a flower shop.

I have always enjoyed gardening. I spent many years living underground back home, so it is nice to have such a variety of plants again.

Oh? But why did you live underground?

[journalname]

My people and I had become trapped there. But we are all free now!

[rosehecate]

Oh.

[There's a long pause, as Anthy's face fades to something a bit less like automatic cheer and more...contemplation.]

...I had been trapped, too - but not underground. So, I understand that it can be very difficult.

I am sorry to hear that.

[He does seem genuinely sorry.]

Yes, it was...very difficult. We did what we could to build new lives there, but people should not have to live in such conditions.

No, they should not. No matter who they are.

[It's taken her a very long time to learn that, too.]

...I am very glad you don't have to live like that anymore, though.

Thank you. We have been building new settlements on the Surface - it is the first time most monsters have seen it.

Oh? Are they finding it difficult to live with humans, or is it coming easily?

[journalname]

It has been far easier than I thought it would. There was a great war between our kinds once, but that was millennia ago now. They have...changed in some ways.

[Or perhaps they've just forgotten about monsters so thoroughly that they are no longer afraid.]

And, of course, we have Frisk as our ambassador! They are here in Goldenrod as well.

Oh my. That's very lucky, to have an ambassador. I just have myself.

[He's not quite sure what to make of that?]
