[The video clicks on as Noctis reclines back against a large white blo--oh wait, that's definitely his Snorlax. The prince looks rather confused, resting his 'gear on his bent knee.]

So anyone know what a Celebi is? Prompto and I passed some people that were talking about it--apparently someone saw it somewhere?

Is it one of those legendary Pokemon or something?

[There's a pause as he chews on the inside of his cheek.]

Team Rocket's not going to try and capture that one to, is it?

"Celebi is an extremely playful species! Its main ability is the power to travel through time, but it's said that it can also do a wide variety of other tricks as well — like restoring plants back to perfect health, levitating, and even bringing their dead friends back to life!"

[The words come surprisingly easily, considering their age. Or maybe Cecil just wrote them down back then.]

At least, that is how it was once described to us. That sounds very much like a Legendary Pokémon's power, and one that would be very difficult to capture besides.

Is it truly so surprising? Our very presence here greatly depends on time-space manipulation, after all.

[Mostly space, but time still plays a part in it.]

True, and it's not the first time either. But they've never managed to keep them, whether it was due to our efforts or those of other Pokémon.

Legendary Pokémon can be both massive and ancient, closer to eidolons than to commonplace goblins. When the legendary dogs were last active, both regions' weather was disturbed for days.

[Even if they were absolute sweeties.]

If they ever manage to do so, we'll stop them. Preferably before Arceus or another of their kind has to meddle.

Powerful beings that certain individuals from my world can summon at their side, no balls needed. Their power sets resemble those seen in the local legendaries.

[Well, maybe not the time-travelling part.]

It's far from the first time. Not so long ago, two foreign criminal groups managed to take control of a pair of opposite legendaries, and nearly destroyed the world with their battle.

[...Oh, one of those worlds. It sure has been a while.]

No Astrals to be found there, but if that description is familiar I suspect they and Eidolons are more or less equivalent. They bear different names in various worlds, than much I know, and their summoning process also varies.

Summoning Titan and Ramuh is an excellent start. Barring moments of great distress, my friend Rydia could only call upon Chocobo at first. Titan she could call if sufficiently upset, but the others came later.

[Granted, she was only seven at the time, but still.]

Thankfully, her previous stay in this world has proven that the bond between summoner and summoned is not truly cut but our temporary dimensional displacement. You should not have to forge those pacts over again.

A wild chocobo caught in a forest might not have the instinct or strength necessary to take part in a battle. There's no such risk with a Chocobo eidolon.

[Not that it's particularly strong even with the necessary instinct.]

Facing a whole country does necessitate great power. I hope the Astrals you'll meet will suffice to complete your task, for your sake.

...The most ours are willing to do is replenish our magical reserves, and only the white ones possess that power. How unfair.

[He wants a badass battle chocobo. Why won't the world let him have a badass battle chocobo?]

...I do hope he's willing to pick at it when it's not on your plate. That would not be the best habit to encourage.

[There's spoiled, and there's... that.]

I'm glad he's a well-behaved chocobo with a healthy understanding of boundaries, for your sake.

[And that is the face of someone who's raised a young man of his own and knows exactly what suspiciously long silences mean. Shaaaame.]

I suppose so, though I now wonder how badly spoiled a chocobo can be. Even so, a part of me is afraid of the answer...

...They have the strength necessary to move grown men out of their way, an appetite that puts every other bird to shame, and the knowledge that we adore them.

[That is a terrible combo.]
