Video 001 | Double Trouble
[Action]
[It was a fine afternoon in New Bark Town. Much later than many begin their Pokemon journey, once awakening in this strange new world. But, after all, these two weren't quite regular. Prompto had found himself awakening a little earlier than usual, being unnerved by his 'Mom', and making his way to outside after a small breakfast. Outside, his starter - Type: Null - had been watching, chimera-like body frozen in fear. And so, for the past hour or so, Prompto has been sitting near the door, tossing small pieces of the food in his pack to the Pokemon.
Not noticing the Munchlax who'd approached, he was far more focused on trying to get this cool-looking... thing to approach him.]
...Prompto?
[A rather sleepy prince had been following said Munchlax, confused by the strange creature but it wouldn’t be the first time he had a strange creature companion. (This one looked nothing like Carbuncle, though.) The only thing that made sense, and gave him some sense of relief, was seeing his blonde friend sitting outside the building he’d woken up in.]
What are you doing?
[His Munchlax didn’t even hesitate to hop down the steps and immediately start to gather up some of the food that had been tossed out, picking up one piece after another and popping them into it’s mouth. Each step it took brought it closer to Null though it hadn’t really seemed to notice the other Pokemon. Or maybe it just wasn’t paying attention.]
---
[Video]
[And so, after a bit of fussing and things with Noctis, Prompto is holding the camera for Noctis and him. Beaming, he’s letting his friend talk first.]
..Right. So..where are we?
[Very specific. And an outright terrible introduction. But really it’s the best place to start as he just gives the camera a frown, one hand on his hip while he rubs the back of his neck with the other hand.]
And what are these things? [Cue him motioning to both the Munchlax and Null.] "Pokemon" isn’t..really telling me much.
[After a pause, though, Prompto shakes his head, looking around a little - adjusting the camera more, making sure it keeps focused. True, it didn’t tell them much. Except that they weren’t dangerous. (Which he’d already expected from his starter.)]
Waking up like this... man, it’s like we’re in a video game! So... if you were in my shoes, what advice would you give? I mean, Noct’s got most of the big questions out of the way.
[Which isn’t saying much considering his questions were ones that could be answered by, you know, opening his pokegear. But this is Noctis we’re talking about.]
Also. Has anyone met someone named Ignis? Or Gladiolus? They're friends of our but I haven't seen any sign of them. I..assumed they'd be here, since we are.
(Responses to the video will come from either of the boys or both! And feel free to barge in on their action prompt. Their just going to be lingering outside for awhile trying to make sense of everything.]

Noctis is here! Prompto scrambles a little to his feet, a small smile spreading on his lips. He's not here alone. He's not the only one. ] Noct-- Well, this guy's probably hungry, right? [ He's got that scary helmet on. How can he eat though it. ...Is Null even a guy?
Null is eyeing you quite a bit, Munchlax. But isn't moving yet. ]
no subject
Probably. I mean, that one's hungry so he must be too.
[He had motioned to Munchlax as he said it before he was focusing on Prompto again, giving the other a slight grin--but there was a wary edge to it.]
Where are we, anyway?
[Meanwhile, Munchlax finally notices Null and stops with a mouthful of treats, staring at the other before it let's out a muffled 'Muncha!' and offers a paw-full of treats to the other.]
no subject
[ But at the question, Prompto has to hide his own flinch. Damn... ]
I was sort of hoping you'd know? It doesn't look like... anywhere, really?
[ There's a long pause, as Null looked over the Munchlax - shying away a little. But then he let out a little low growl... trying to come close without scaring away Munchlax. Yes, he will take these. ]
no subject
[Noctis catches that flinch and it gets a frown out of the prince as he crosses his arms now.]
Yeah it definitely doesn't look like any of the towns we've visited before.
[Munchlax seems delighted that the other wants the treats and happily sets them on the ground for the other. With a happy 'Muncha-munch!' she proceeds to start gathering up the rest of the treats, bringing them over one by one to add to the pile for Null.]

As to your questions, I actually have a guide of sorts I prepared some months ago to address those as well as other common ones for newcomers.
*he'll even provide a handy link to it; it comes in both video and text formats, to boot!*
video;
Sooo... that answered a few questions, but are there really Bug Pokemon? And if there's breeders - does that mean somewhere put there, there's baby Pokemon?
[ Yes. Confirm the small stuff. Don't worry about the timeline stuff or being stuck or getting respect by having badges. Not yet. ]
...And besides, Nocts' friends'll show up sooner or later. I don't think they could stay away.
Re: video;
As for breeding, all pokemon come from eggs, actually, and upon hatching are in the form and size of whatever their first evolutionary stage is. No one's quite figured out how it's possible, but I suspect it's similar to how some can suddenly and drastically change in size when evolving into their next form.
*he won't comment on that last bit; sometimes people show up, sometimes they don't, so it's anyone's guess which it will be, anyway*
no subject
[ But then he pans his camera to Type: Null, who's still sort of shyly watching. If Null came from an egg - which Prompto wants to believe now - maybe it's not like... ]
So this guy came from an egg, huh? You know if he evolves? I tried to remove his helmet earlier, but it wouldn't budge.

Totally like a video game. How long've people been coming here, then?
video
video
[ ...There's a bit of blankness from his video screen. Only for a bit. You... that caught him off-guard. When it comes back though, his expression... it's complex, but there's a slight shine in his eyes. ]
And it's true? Nothing... changes at home? Like... say somebody stayed here for that long, then went home. Would they be back to how they were back then? [ H-he just needs to confirm. Nothing less, nothing more - is his life here going to just be wiped if he happened to vanish? But what if that wasn't known? He's just gotten here - Prompto gives a little glance back. A pause, before: ] I mean, if you know.
Man, though - if Noct'd come alone, that would have been pre-tty bad.

Hey, you guys must be new! I guess long story short, you are in Pokémon land, and Pokémon are these animal things that you befriend that also have super powers. They are pretty cool! Though...
[He squints his eyes. He's looking at Type: Null, but that's a little hard to make out over the video chat.]
That one looks pretty weird. Anyways, I haven't heard those names yet, but that doesn't mean that they're not here. They also might show up later! New people show up all the time!
video
[So sort of like the fiends and daemons back home. Just not as horrifying. Great.
Noctis frowns a bit and glances at Null.]
How so? You said this is Pokemon land right?
[Oh Noctis.]
How? Do they show up, I mean. How did we get here, for that matter?
video
[John shrugs. Clearly, he just has a lot more to learn about Pokemon than he originally thought.]
And I don't know how or why people come here, just that they do. It involves some weird time and space shenanigans that I don't really want to think too hard about. It seems to be kind of random, if you ask me.

text.
I arrived pretty recently and just immediately started off. I'd say it's up to you, but you might have an easier time if you stick around and try to find a bit of work before you take off. Nothing wrong with having a little extra spending cash, right?
Otherwise, I guess what I found useful was learning about pokemon types. You can make money sometimes battling other trainers which can be nice, especially if you want to keep moving forward. A lot of people seem to be in bigger cities and they're kind of a hassle to get to from the start so it feels a little isolated at times, but seems like you guys got it covered.
Um. What else? Oh right, you can clean up in centers which is great considering public bathing is kind of hard to get around with all the people looking to battle (and the snow and ice right now) and they'll help you with your pokemon if it's hard to clean (very helpful for my partner; his pokemon is a bit of a flailer). I would also suggest you check the map a lot even on routes so you get the feel for your location and to use the pokedex function to familiarize yourself with pokemon species just so you're prepared for what's around when you're camping.
Also make sure you have a way to start a fire even if you're good with doing it off the land before you leave the city. Don't want you guys to freeze to death.
Anyway that's the immediate things I can think of. I get that it's hard to come up with specific questions considering how overwhelming this is, but feel free to ask me and I'll do my best to lend a hand.
I'm Jill, by the way. :)
text.
So if we battle these Pokemon things we can get money from other people. By hurting animals. That doesn't really seem like something I want to do?? I mean, I fought monsters back home but they weren't as nice as these ones seem..I really don't want to hurt them.
Clean up in centers. Got it. And what are the chances of finding ourselves a tent? We've both got a sleeping bag in our backpacks but that seems kind of pointless without a tent. I guess sleeping under the stars--literally--isn't that bad but I'd kind of rather have a tent. Especially if there are pokemon just wandering around.
Does it get that cold at night?
Are we suppose to catch more of these pokemon things? I'm assuming that's what the red and white balls are for but how exactly does that work?
Noctis. Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it.

Oh, I meant with your own pokemon! Sorry about that. It's sort of an activity that pokemon do to bond with their trainers, as well? I guess you can check to see what your pokemon wants to do, but mine wanted to battle as much as it wanted to be pet. Most of the time it seems like your pokemon just knock other ones out; I usually do it in the wild only to catch one. Which is... a completely different thing. I'll see if I can grab one of the guides some people have made to explain it better.
Might quickly find one in almost any store? Cheap ones actually aren't too bad. I had two pretty small pokemon early on so I wanted to get one ASAP.
It can! But if you're lucky and have good pokemon they definitely can help keep you warm. Mine acted as a great scarf and hat, haha. Luckily cities are pretty close together and you can stay the night for free at centers if you don't feel like shelling for a hotel or something.
Yeah, at your discretion? I found it easier to travel having more than one but I didn't want to get overwhelmed too fast. Basically you want to battle ones in the wild who don't have trainers and after a while, you kind of just... throw the ball at them and they may or may not get caught? (This sounds way more awkward than in my head.) Or you might just luck out and find one that wants to join your group or takes to you for some reason. We just caught some Espurr that way. They just walked into camp looking for food and decided to follow us.
Hey, Noctis. I've been here about two months and I honestly wasn't too happy. A lot is easier to learn on your own with trial and error, but definitely mess around with your gear. You might have to do some digging but you'll find a lot of info hidden around it.
