Fishing on Route 30

[Two hours.

Two hours they had wasted hanging out by the body of water they'd come across while on their way north and Noctis didn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. His old rod wasn't going to be good for much but he had been catching a few things at the very least!

..Magikarp. He's been catching Magikarp.

Bean is seated near the edge of the water where Noctis is standing, happily digging through his bag and eating some of the berries that he'd collected while they were walking, feeding them to Chocochick and Fluff while she's at it. Pride is seated right beside Noctis as he casts his line out--again--having just caught his third Magikarp since starting and he doesn't seem prepared to stop anytime soon.

And beside his Shinx is a small pile of odd things he's gotten, including a single pearl. Hey, it's better than nothing right?]

[ At first, Prompto had been watching intensely, watching Noctis capture each and every fish. A slight tweeting came from behind him, his new Pidgey - still nameless, and still un-captured but bribed with berries to stay until Prompto can actually dig though his bag to find a Pokeball - poking at the ground near to him.

But he'd begun to wander around the area, looking around. Man, this place was... actually, it had new music. It was a little weird that everywhere had music, but hey. It wasn't any different then carrying a radio around. And so, Prompto is now sort-of singing along to the Route 30 music, before pausing to ask: ]

Maaan, you think every place has their own?

[Noctis was only half paying attention to what Prompto was doing and humming, oblivious to the music even because he was so focused on what he was doing. He felt a tug on his line and immediately reeled it in but whatever it was got away.

Dammit.

Frowning at his line, Noctis attached another berry to it just as Prompto spoke, causing the prince to glance over at the blonde.]

Their own what?

Music! Since, you know. Each town and route we've been in has been unique. Oh, and the Pokemon Centers and Pokemon Marts have their own.

[ But he looks to the rod a little, giving a frown. Is it just him, or has he been using the same sort of berries for each one? Prompto was only just paying attention, so he wasn't sure - but wouldn't that make some of them break away?

...He wasn't sure. So he didn't bring it up. ]

Music..oh. Yeah, I guess I hadn't really paid much attention to it since we woke up here.

[It had just sort of become background noise to Noctis so he hadn't noticed the change.

But now that Prompto mentioned it..]

They probably do. Whoever makes the music probably has way too much time on their hands.

[At his feet, Pride shifts in his position, looking a bit put off that Noctis isn't fishing anymore. And yes, he is using the same berries. Because he hasn't realized that they all do different things yet.]

I dunno, it's good to tune into sometimes.

[ He sometimes focuses on the music so he can go to sleep. But it's weird. Promptos'... been feeling a little better about himself here. Not much, but sometimes he can push away that he's with the Prince and instead he's with his best friend, and they don't need to do anything. But giving a shrug, he pulls closer. ]

Wonder what you'd sound like with a song?

[ what is your theme song, noct - Prompto wonders, as he looks into the pond. Are there even other fishes in there...? ]

[That makes Noctis pause.

As heavy a sleeper as he is and obviously as he can be sometimes, he knows that Prompto has trouble sleeping sometimes. They'd camped out in his apartment back home together and then there was the time spent on the road with the others so Noctis knew. He'd just never really brought it up; instead he just tried to do is best to always make Prompto feel comfortable.]

Helping you sleep?

[His gaze is back on the pond and he casts his line again, much to the pleasure of his Shinx who's ears perk as he sits up a bit straighter.

Catch more fish, Noctis!]

[ But as the rod is in the water, Prompto can't help but lean in a little. Watching it. Because even if he's not into fishing as much as his friend? Those looks of concentration were precious adorning Noctis' face.

In fact, out comes the Pokegear, so he can snap a quick picture. (Soon, he'll get a better camera. And he's so excited.) ]

Yeah. Not that you'd need that! [ He jokes a little, as the piddly little camera snaps the picture - no flash, thankfully. ] Together, we'd sleep pretty normally.

[He is not precious. He's a badass fisherman okay.

Glancing at Prompto again after the picture is taken, Noctis playfully rolls his eyes before he's focusing on the water.]

Jerk.

[Snapping pictures when he can't say no.]

True. It's kind of nice not having to be on edge even when we're sleeping.

Dark Cave

(Note: They'll be in the cave from the 7th to the 10th, so a total of three days~ Feel free to tag for any of those days off this.)

...This looks like it's going to be fun.

[Standing outside the entrance to the cave, bag on his back and Bean sitting on his shoulders with her head on his, Noctis is eyeing the cave maybe just a little bit on the wary side. It's not that he's scared he's just..not sure what to expect from this place. Or the pokemon that might be inside.

Turning, Noct looks to Prompto, vaguely aware of his Shinx and Bidoof wandering close to the cave entrance.]

Ready? You've got some sort of light right? I can't exactly get mind out of my bag right now.

[sunnysidewalkstreet]

Well, I dunno if IE [ His Luxio (short for Internet Explorer.exe), who is sort of laying there and purring, seemingly oblivious as his Null sniffs as her ] can light stuff up yet. But we got our phones, right?

That'll be enough.

[ Famous last words, as he flips his open. No, that isn't a game he's got open on it. He really loves Kanto Discovery Trail, okay. Even if he hasn't managed to beat it yet, or even get a good high score. ]

[Yeah he's not so sure about that Prompto.]

I mean..I guess they'll be enough. We just have to be careful.

[This was going to end badly for them somehow, he could feel it.

At the entrance to the cave, Pride let out a low growl, ears perked as he peered into the darkness. Beside him, Fluff just let out a happy sound, waddling on ahead into the cave without any fear.

Time to explore!]

Hey--Fluff! Get back here! [Time for Noctis and Bean to head after the bidoof!]

Holy-- [ Prompto begins to run alongside Noctis, before hearing a sound he hadn't before.

His Null was letting out a growl. It was the first time his starter hadn't sounded shy when being somewhere like this. This... darkness. At least it didn't seem--

Whoops. Prompto just tripped over, letting out a yell. Guess who banged into the nearby ledge and fell backwards. ]

[Okay yep this was dark. Very dark. Probably why the place was called Dark Cave, huh?]

Prompto! You alright?

[Managing to get his gear out of his pocket, Noctis turned it on so there was at least a little more light.]

What happened?

[Fluff and Pride had both ended up near Prompto in the scuffle, the bidoof looking pleased as punch as his little nub tail wagged about.]

Uhh... the wall popped up in front of me?

[ He's trying to give a little smile, but he's embarrassed. His Null gives a little grumble, looking to Fluff with a bit of a frown. However much of a frown the Pokemon can give. ]

Shit--

[ And then Prompto is suddenly looking though his bag. His Togepi was resting in there!! ]

Funny how they do that. [It comes out as a drawl but Noctis is worried about the other, kneeling down carefully so he doesn't jar Bean around too much.] Are you sure you're--

[He startles as Prompto suddenly starts digging through his bag, eyebrow going up as he starts to say something--

Wait.]

Your Togepi was in there right?

[Meanwhile, Fluff just gives Null a derpy looking bidoof grin, waddling over to the other 'mon and rubbing against his legs.]

Yeah - and I don't wanna crack Magus! I don't even know if that eggshell is actually part of 'er or--

[ Oh thank the Six - out comes the Togepi, who's just giving a little confused look. She... she doesn't seem hurt. Like, at all.

But Null tries to shake away Fluff, giving a huff. They should get moving, and no that doesn't mean run off again. ]

But-- I'm fine. Really. Probably just a scratch.

Violet City - March 14th

[It had been a little over a day since they had arrived in Violet City and honestly Noctis couldn't put into words how nice it had felt to take an actual shower. He'd done enough battling against Pokemon and trainers alike while they were on the road that he'd been able to splurge for a decent hotel room and had almost immediately claimed the shower.

But that was yesterday.

After a good night's rest, Noctis and Bean had set out to see if there were any odd jobs that needed done and had been gone for the better part of the morning. His Shinx hadn't moved from the window while his Bidoof, Pikipek and Rockruff were dozing contently on his bed. When the door finally unlocked, Pride turned and hopped down from his perch, looking a bit put off at being left behind as the Prince entered the room. An apologetic look was sent the Shinx's way before Noctis glanced around, looking from the beds towards the bathroom.]

Prompto? [Shutting the door once Bean was inside, said Munchlax waddling over towards the bed with an armful of berries, Noctis moved towards the small table that was near the window in their room.] I'm assuming you're awake...unless you fell asleep in the bathroom.

[ Just getting into town had been great. And also getting his camera, finally, flown to him by Angel - Prompto still needs to figure out how to repay her. (He knows she said it was simply because she wanted to help. But it felt so weird. Especially since this was a nice mid-range one!)

But, in the daytime, Prompto had decided to take a day for himself. Like, Noctis would allow it, right? Yeah, he was his bro. But he hadn't expected Noctis to be back yet - and let out a yelp once he heard the voice. ]

Noct-- uh! You're back?

[ Yup, he's in the bathroom - the joke is reality. And, of all his Pokemon, it's his Null who's missing.

Guess who decided to try and give his scared Chimera a bath. And also try out some new clothes he brought... ones he wanted to surprise Noctis with later. They're nice and casual, but he found some with nice Drifloon patterns, and also nice and fluffy around the neck. Because it was still a bit cold. But to bathe his Chimera, he'd gone sleeveless. Even if the terrified doggo had splashed him quite a bit. ]

Yeah, sorry I was gone so long. [Curiosity has him going over to the bathroom and nudging the door open to peek in, an eyebrow going up as he chokes back a laugh.] Having fun?

[Things had been a little on the strange side since their discussion at the Dark Cave and it had been bothering Noctis a bit. Which is part of why he'd disappeared that morning.

He had a plan.]

It's alright, Null. Once he's done Bean has some berries she wants to share with you.

No problem! I, uh, was thinking of heading off soon anyway.

[ It wasn't a good or bad awkward - one Prompto didn't want to talk about too much. They'd need to more, but... maybe over dinner. He still owed Noctis a good meal after some of the fish-- Water-types he'd found.

They both had plans. Different ones, but.

Before Prompto could add more, Null let out a loud whine. He wanted some now. This water was weird and so was the stuff Prompto was rubbing into him! (Yes, Prompto was using some extra free shampoo from the hotel room. They'd needed to order extra because have you seen their hair.)

He put a hand to the scared chimera, though, before speaking quietly. ] Find anything cool out there?

[Noctis almost deflates a bit but manages to cover his disappointment with a shrug, leaning against the door frame.]

Alright, if you're sure.

[..That came off a little more pissy than he meant for it to and it shows as he glances down, scowling some.]

...I was..actually going to ask if you--

[Whatever he's about to say is cut off by Null's whining and the prince looks up again, giving the 'mon an apologetic look.]

I promise she'll save you some. [Hopefully.] Nothing much. Helped some people out and got some more money. Outside of that, nothing worth writing home about. We did take a walk by the gym, though.

...I can stay a lil longer. But gotta get a job for a bit, you know?

[ Like usual. He needs to work, maybe he can stop worrying about what happened. Take some cute snaps of Pokemon.

...He was gonna ask him something? Maybe-- maybe it can wait. No need to pressure him. Null lets out another whine, before-- ooh. Prompto begins to rub some of the shampoo into her back, near her tail - that actually feels nice.

And Prompto can just focus on what Noctis said. Working to help people - that sounds like him, of course. ] Really? What's the Gym actually like? I mean, reading about and seeing them is totally different.

I know. I'm going to do some more jobs around town while we're here, too.

[To help out. So it wasn't just Prompto carrying all the weight. There was no reason for the blonde to have to do it all on his own, as much as Noctis did enjoy just lazing around with his Pokemon.

He could practically hear what Ignis and Gladio would have to say about that, though.]

Honestly I wouldn't have even known it was a gym if there hadn't been a sign. It was pretty plain looking as far as buildings go. And there was some weird old man out front that gave me this whole pep talk then told me my Pokemon weren't strong enough yet.

Wow, really? Prince Noctis, man of the people.

[ He's been trying to lighten everything for so long - he was actually glad that Noctis would be helping, a little. Maybe they could even work together like normal best friends!

But he lets out a little pfft. ]

What do weird old men know about our Pokemon. Man, our Pokemon are the top percentage of 'em-- Null, no kicking the walls!

[ A little whine from the Pokemon - not his fault the water was sudden. ]

Give any advice, or was he just like 'you gotta get stronger but we're not telling you how'.
