[ Haurchefant sits on a bench on Route 11, looking quite exhausted and messy - but a smile grows on his lips. Curled up next to him is a baby shiny Mareep, and his Goomy is sort of. Goo-ing at the camera. ]
Whoever knew that the horses of this land would be beings of flame...? [ And then, he sees the light and nods to himself. ]
Ah, yes - it seems to be recording - hello! Until recently, I was in Digletts' Cave - how many of you have seen that creature? Forever digging in the dirt, and yet... [ he lets out a hm, shifting the device to a newly-evolved Dugtrio, talking to a Servine - any Pokemon would be able to hear they're discussing Viridian Forest. ] I cannot see if this being is a Hydra or simply multiples. No matter what, I like him.
[ It shifts back to him, as Haurchefant shifts to sitting more comfortably. It's odd, that he still wears his broken armour - but he finds it comforting, in this odd world. ]
But I did not simply turn on this device to speak of my friend. No, there's something I wonder of these other lands. It cannot simply be I - were there any else who found the typing of their starter unfitting? Or-- these types in general, have any of you found they do not match what you know of their species?
[ He's still very. Hung up on getting a Dragon, okay. Even if he knows better, it's him. Before he turns off the video, he taps one of his Elezen ears, letting out a soft hm as he nodded. ]
...Also, are there any goldsmith or... others who can tend to jewelry around? I'm afraid bracelets suit me not, and I desire to place my splendid Key Stone in another piece of jewelry - dear Estinien shall be able to use it eventually. Of course, I'd not ask without payment. Please contact me anon and we can discuss the job further.

[Who, at the sound of her name nudges Sasha out of the view of the camera with the broad side of her snoot amid the protests of her trainer, is here to say hello to the man with the strange ears. HELLO STRANGE EARED MAN.
It's a short battle of trainer versus stubborn Pokemon before Sasha gains the upper hand on her Deerling and comes back on screen.]
Excuse me. I'm sorry about that. I was saying that my Jean looks like a deer, but she isn't. Not like the ones I used to hunt at home. Those didn't have this thing.
[This thing is indicated by Sasha reaching up to flick her fingers through the yellow tuft of hair on top of its head, a movement that gets a mild unhappy grumble from Jean.]
And none of them come in pink.
no subject
If I did not know better, I'd say your dear deer held a flower on their head! [ how amazing he wants to show francel. ]
But it is the same for I - I'd not expect deer to come in pink, in any realm. After all, do they not wish to hide from hunters and others seeking their skins?
[ On the other hand... it could make interesting leather... don't mind Haurchefant thinking, his ears twitching a little. ]
no subject
[It seems this guy is right about the tuft. It feels more like the petals of a flower between Sasha's fingertips than it does actual hair. She's not going to test it though by trying to pluck one.]
I'm not sure. I haven't heard anybody hunting down Pokemon. And I'm not letting anyone hunt mine!
[Clearly Sasha hasn't heard all the tales of Team Rocket and Skull running amuck and doing horrible things. And right now she doesn't care because something about this guy catches her eyes and they go wide on screen.]
Your ears are moving.
[Sasha. You can't just point out people's weird ears!]
no subject
Haurchefant gives a patient smile. ]
...They do. Have you not seen an Elezen before now? [ He is, honestly, curious. He's only seen Hyur around, mostly! It's so... weird. A pause, before: ]
Truly, however, the Pokemon are not to be underestimated. I've noticed no food seems to be made of them... nor have I spotted leather goods.
no subject
[The word is incredibly foreign on her tongue and there's nothing she can remember that comes close to that word.]
Well, I haven't seen any cows so maybe that's why there's no leather around either.
[No, she isn't going to ask where the meat they eat comes from. Sasha doesn't want to know, and above all, she doesn't care. A starving person doesn't question where a wanted meal has come from.]
no subject
[ ...does she know what a hyur is
or is she a wild one
...hopefully the former, Haurchefant thinks. ]
And I've seen nothing which I could see leather crafter of, either... quite disturbing, if that's the case. For if they are not here, then... how?
no subject
[Well, there's the answer to the question. Sasha has no clue that this guy is talking about.]
I don't know. I kind of don't want to think about it either. Maybe we should just be grateful we have the things we do have and don't ask too many questions so they don't take them away from us.
no subject
[ He wasn't expecting much after death, though. ] But still - I don't get it! Why are Goomy named as Dragons - I cannot see one of them devouring countrymen, when but a Dragonet could--
[ He stops himself, letting out a little sigh. He needs to stop thinking like this!
sorry sora, but his slightly sad expression changes as he then realizes. ]
You've seen other worlds before this one?
no subject
That sounds... splendid! Yes! For what reason did you roam - was it for heroics? Are you a hero, like my dearest Warrior of Light?!
[ His expression has 100% cheered up - he's giving a grin, trying to remember to hold the camera in his excitement. ]
no subject
[ Haurchefant gives a deep breath in, beaming. I am so sorry, he is fanboying about his favorite person. ] The Warrior of Light was chosen to fight the threat of Primal and what they called Ascian, so that our land would not fall to darkness. They slay gods, and yet still remain by our sides - splendidly shining brightly! Even when they had been ambushed by the Garlean Empire and were all alone but for two dear friends, they came to the rescue of my dearest friend Francel - proving his innocence in the eyes of all.
...And before I came here, they'd destroyed Nidhogg himself - the very beast who brought the Dragonsong War to my people. Would that I could speak of all their deeds - but we had far too much to do, to save the Lord Commander - I know not everything they had to endure. But they... are a dear friend and splendid guardian both.
[
and because gotta keep it vague because warrior of light is player character and allHe pauses, shaking his head - trying so hard not to drop the camera as he's calming himself. ] I know not of Heartless - but if you truly save the hearts and light of worlds... then that would make you another Warrior of Light, would it not? How splendid!
no subject
But, nonsense! If you bring Light, then you must need to spar and destroy the dark forces - be it by blade or magic. Many will listen to reason not, alas.

[The armor and Haurchefant's manner of speaking are somewhat of a familiar comfort -- it's usually easier to talk to people here who seem to come from similar places. Anders may not be as relaxed as the grey furry lump curled up in his lap, but he is enough to talk about this.]
All things considered, the Ghost typing perplexes me the most. Where I'm from, ghosts are rumored plenty, but the souls of the dead don't actually remain in the mortal world. The Ghosts I've seen here are said to be such souls, but they act more like the spirits I know. Which are completely different beings.
no subject
[ It is quite relaxing to Haurchefant, as well - somebody whom he can speak to without curiosity about their tongue - just how did people speak in these other worlds? ]
It is quite similar, however, in Eorzea - the only spirits who remain are those who should not be. I'd not expect them to be the spirit of those who passed - simply memories, brought back by sadness and grief. [ haurchefant thats a primal not a ghost ]
...But I suppose it's small comfort Ghosts are true in this land - or what would I be? Ghost Pokemon, however, seem quite different then I - they fight like any animal would. [ He's trying - his armour still carries the breakage from where he was shot with a spear of light, though there's a shirt blocking the scar. ]
no subject
[That's pretty straightforward. Anders can't know what he's feeling -- maybe if he'd seen five more minutes in Thedas, it would be a different story, but he doesn't want to think too hard on that -- but at least he's seen it before.]
If you're anything like some others I've known, here you're as flesh and blood as you ever were.
no subject
[ He really doesn't know.
but stormblood soon.At the latter part, though, he seems to sober up - giving a bit of a bitter frown. ] That I've noticed - during that... disaster of a prom, I bled like any other Spoken - even items made to heal me seem so odd.
...Ah. But I should not go on about this without a name - now that'd be improper of I. [ he's barely proper as-is ] Haurchefant. And you?
no subject
"Disaster." Haurchefant doesn't have to say that twice for Anders to give a derisive scoff.] I hope your injuries have healed well, at least.
Anders. A pleasure. [He does seem genuine about that, casting aside spite for last month's ordeal.]
no subject
That they have! My arm still could not hold strong - a pity, but there's more scars for if... any of my land ever seek me here.
[ He sighs a little, before smiling warmer. ] Anders - for once, a name which sounds proper! [ What are names. ]
Video
What do you, uh... What do you mean by unfitting? 'Cause there were a few things I was not-really cheering about when I met mine.
no subject
...But what was wrong with yours, if I may ask?
no subject
I'm not... I don't like ghosts.
no subject
And I hate Dravanian. If it were one who looked more like them...
[ He doesn't know what he'd do. His Kingdra is a little too close to that, sometimes. ]
A cruel goddess, whoever gave you a ghost.
no subject
Yeah, well.
...For all her faults, I have become...very fond of her. [The Luxray by her side yawns, big and wide.] It's just funny [said in a tone that means she finds it the opposite of funny just for the record] that this seems to be a trend.
no subject
Huguette has grown on me - but it may simply be the slime. I know not how she evolves.
[ A pause. ]
I wonder why you or I did not simply release them.
no subject
[Immediately.]
I mean- partly because I couldn't, Agatha was all I had to protect me, when I first got here. And...
[An uncomfortable shift.]
She depended on me. All of the Pokémon I've caught or hatched have...even the ghosts.
[even if no, he'll never quite grasp horses that are on fire, himself]
...Ahh, but um, if you're looking for a jeweler, I don't really know much about that stuff, but if you try one of the larger cities, like Goldenrod or Celadon, that's probably your best bet for finding a specialty store like that.
[ ...Years. Years sound nice to stay here. ]
But thank you, Ser. A pity I cannot seem to ask one of us from outside the world of Pokemon - I wonder if that would be a wanted service...? [ haurchefant no ]
no subject
...And I mean, you could ask around, I guess. They bring all sorts of people here, you never know.

[can't really talk about his own team so much because he's gotten too used to most of them, but...]
Well, there were those Shedinjas, about six years back or so. There's a bug called Nincada, and when it evolves into Ninjask, it sheds its skin, and that takes on its own life as a Shedinja, which is weird enough. The Pokedex will tell you that if you look at the hole in a Shedinja's back it'll steal your soul, but when it comes to Shedinja it's actually wrong for once.
...Except that one time.
no subject
But realistically, that could be said about a variety of pokemon for any one person, so it's hard to be certain.
*he's maybe put a tiny bit of private thought into this, given that his starter is an absol*
no subject
[ (Well, not one like him.) ]
I'd not considered it as some form of irony - perhaps these thoughts would be worse if I got one such as Kingdra as my starter. Whichever deity gifts us these chances must have either mercy or humour to them.
no subject
*that or political marriages*
Well, at most you have gotten a horsea, in that case; I've never heard of anyone starting with a pokemon fullly evolved.
no subject
[ But there's a little chuckle. ]
Would that I avoid another who evolves into a Dragon-type. Even if my dear friends aren't trying to kill me, I fear that may be a step too far.
[ There is a small baaa from his Mareep. ]
no subject
*even the useless ones like abra or magikarp...*
Perhaps you should seek out an ice or fairy type then, just in case.

[THE LOOK ON HER FACE CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS HAUNTED. She just spent several days completely lost in Diglett Cave and those nightmares will not be leaving any time soon.]
[But she shakes herself.]
--starters. Okay, starters are kind of weird.
I've noticed that they seem to fall under like... one of two categories.
One, they fit you perfectly, creepily perfectly, for better or worse.
Or two, they are the most infuriatingly ironic, hilarious damn thing you could possibly have gotten, so of course that's what you got.
no subject
It could have been more ironic - it could have been a scaled one, instead of... a pile of slime who is called a dragon. I do not even know if this Goomy has eyes.
[ Yeah, a little anger enters his voice - before it passes. ]
What of your starter? Was it irony or a splendid fit that this land gave you?
no subject
[AND fitting.]
[It's both.]
[Heather's blessed like that.]
There are three big things I hate.
[She ticks her fingers off.]
Fire, dogs, and stupidity.
Guess what three prominent traits my starter displayed.
no subject
no subject
Yeah, he's... pretty special.
Even for his breed.
Either way, that's basically all the evidence I need that there's some cosmic being out there specifically messing with us.
But at least it's messing with us harmlessly.
[She and Cujo had learned to get along. Eventually.]
no subject
[Oh hey, it's that pretty girl who you talked to back in the prom.]
As for a starter, I had my heart dead-set on a Pikachu, so thankfully whoever brought me here had the fortitude to give me Pichu who I evolved rather quickly. Was the darndest thing since I was grooming it and poof, Pikachu.
no subject
[ haurche plz, but then his eyes seem to light up a little. ]
...If you were dead-set on such a Pokemon, were you familiar with them beforehand?
no subject
[Yayoi grinned at that.]
Yes actually, they're stories in my world. Similar to how there are fairy worlds, there's always stories of Pokemon in mine.
