o5 | video, action for Vermillion City

I hope this won't sound weird, but has anyone ever had trouble with a Pokemon not responding to any names? The egg that turned up with everything else hatched the other day and it's, uh... It listens, but when I try calling it, it doesn't acknowledge me. I've tried a few of them so far and so far I've gotten nothing.

_{[He swings his camera around to focus on the shiny Aron pouncing and running ahead of him on the sidewalk, but it doesn't stray too far.]}

Or, uh... Is this species just stubborn? The Pokedex didn't mention anything like that though, only...

_{[Bertolt trails off for a moment as a dump truck passes by on the street, his attention following it for a few moments, then he looks back down where his Aron is... And it's bolting after the truck.]}

Ah! H-Hey, Rauta! Stop!

<sub>[SEE, THIS IS WHAT HE MEANS-- Bertolt chases after it, but suddenly the loud screech of tires snaps through the air, followed by the sound of twisting metal and a heavy thud. When Bertolt rounds the corner, his Pokegear slowly pulls the scene into focus - the dump truck toppled over on its side, the bewildered and shaken driver staring at the wreck of his truck, and his Aron sitting on the ground munching away at the corner of the license plate torn from the rear bumper.

He immediately fumbles with the 'gear, turning it off as quickly as he can with a rushed apology.]</sub>

Well, my shedinja never really responded to much of anything, so I ended up just calling him something similar to the nincada he evolved from, but I think that was a slightly different sort of situation...

*though really, that video...*

Does yours at least listen to commands?

[Can Sasha's eyes get any wider? Possibly, if the Aron keeps this up. At least the driver is still alive and unhurt, but Sasha really can't say the same about the truck.]

Bertolt, you have to stop him! What if he eats every truck in the city?

It's still very young, correct? Maybe it's teething. As for names I wouldn't know. I did have a Pokemon specifically request a name change because she didn't like the one I chose for her, but she still responded to the old name prior.

W-Why a truck?

Well. I'm afraid I can't speak to the first part, but I do know why a truck. It's an Aron, yes? They feed on metal to reinforce their own bodies. Usually ore they find in their wild habitat, but when taken into human settlements they have to improvise.

[He doesn't seem to realize this is something he should be worried about. It's fine. It's just a truck. Goodness knows he's destroyed bigger.]

Maybe you need to training it like you would a dog. Use treats and say it's name and whenever the little thing looks at you, give it a treat.

Or maybe it actually just can't hear you.

I've tried training him like I did with Marcel and he doesn't do much when it comes to his name. O-Or names, now.

Have you tried just calling him "Aron" for a while? I know it's not ideal, but... clearly he can't keep charging trucks.

Uh... Baby Pokemon can be a little hard to deal with! They need training and love to, um.... [She's not a breeder but she's trying, okay. And that baby just flipped a truck.]

They can also be... really powerful.

I-I've never had a baby one do this before, though. All of the other ones I've hatched, they'd just... sort of chew on my stuff until Marcel got them to follow what he does.

_{[Only those babies were more or less field types like Marcel. He's never had something like an Aron before, so there's no one for it to really follow and look up to.]}
