I uh... have a problem.

Are Mimikyu usually this... biased against Pikachu?

[DEAAAAAATH! The Mimikyu is raining attacks down onto Pikachu who is fighting back in the background. There's short pulses of Thundershock in the background offscreen as the Mimikyu and Pikachu go rolling into the bushes.]

As far as I can tell, and the nurse I can tell, it was completely at ease when I got it earlier but now it's like trying to beat up Pikachu. I mean, I can relate, and they'll tire out in a few minutes.

Maybe it's just my Pikachu but Mimikyu seems to just go nuts for a moment. Maybe this is how Mimikyu are with Pikachus? I dunno?

Nothing in my books are saying as such.

[DEAAAAAATH Oh okay, lunch break. The Mimikyu breaks off the fight for lunch and Pikachu wipes her forehead before joining it. It's actually normal.]

I can't tell if this is training or just Mimikyu being Mimikyu.

Judging by its appearance? I could see it. I mean, it's practically wearing a Pikachu costume. Might have some unspoken grudge because Pikachu are cute, marketable, and frankly?

Maybe a bit too popular. Always been more of a Raichu fan, personally.

Mostly. I think they're just growing into rivals? Which I suppose can't be that bad for training. It would give them motivation, and for me to possibly tackle a gym.

And you're right. A rivalry is good incentive to grow stronger. And this is coming from somebody who grew up butting heads with my best friend since we were little.

Best advice I can give is to nurture it into a friendly rivalry instead of something more hostile.

Yeah, I think that's a definite thing to keep in mind. I'll set boundaries since they seem to get along in many ways, it's just the spontaneous battling that happens.

[And now they're sharing Pokefood. Yeah, deathkyu just likes fighting with his friend.]

Hey, just be glad they're small. Imagine if you had, say, a Tyranitar and an Aggron duking it out on a daily basis.

My Mimikyu hates Pikachus.

It's a good thing no one I travel with has one, or I'm pretty sure she'd try and kill it.

Yeah, it's not a pure hate or anything from what I can tell. Mimikyu is just... enthusiastic... about establishing who is boss and Pikachu's too strong willed to just roll over and let that happen.

They seem pretty friendly. I wonder if mine would be like that if I got a Pikachu...

You'd have to see, test the waters. If yours really does hate Pikachu with a passion, then it's probably not for the best.

I'm having the same sort of problem with mine, though there hasn't been any outright fighting just yet.

[Cissnei shifts her 'gear to show the scene behind her near her campsite. Flux, her Pikachu, is sitting on one side of their campfire, tail twitching nervously as her newly hatched Mimikyu sits on the other side and just stares.]

I have a feeling I'm going to have to keep a close eye on them.

[The sound of another Mimikyu has Cissnei's shifting finally, peering over towards it's training as two black hand-like tendrils appear and seem to wave.]

The best advice I can give, and it's advice I'm going to follow myself, is to train them separately if possible.

I don't have a Pikachu but Charlie hasn't attacked any of my other Pokemon yet.

I hope he doesn't since he's way weaker than them.

Mimikyu's pretty feisty for a newborn anyhow.

Kind of sounds like you need a copy of Setting Boundaries for your Out of Control Child for your boyfriend's little brother.
