All this business with moody Legendaries had somewhat disturbed my anniversary plans, but I've finally an announcement to make.

[Cecil's Official Kingly Voice does not match the beaming smile on his lips, as he stands in front of a brand new white building. Rosie the Clefable stands at his side, looking positively giddy.]

Starting in exactly one week at dusk, I would like to invite any sufficiently determined and experienced tester to try their mettle against the Lunar Gym, the second and brand new member of the Aurora League. Saffron's very own Silph Co. has graciously participated in its construction, and I can promise that their efforts will turn your understanding of Pokémon battles completely upside down!

[Both trainer and Pokémon look very much delighted at the thought of showing the fruits of their training.]

Of course, even trainers uninterested in battling are welcome to visit the premises during our business hours, Monday to Thursday from dusk to dawn... Or to come to the bar near Celadon City's Pokémon Center for drinks tonight. Everyone's first seven drinks are on me, and I'll be answering any Gym question you may have throughout the night.

[And indeed, anyone who visits said bar after seeing his message will find him there, happily waving acquaintances over.]

[ Walter certainly looked thoughtful. At his side is his Alolan Marowak, who is reflecting his trainer's thinking. So he seemed quite serious yet curious as he looked at Cecil. ]

You gym is located in Kanto, then.

That's right. North of the route between Saffron and Celadon, close enough to both cities to make travel simple. As I live in Celadon, it was more convenient than build it somewhere near Mt. Moon.

Can you tell me more about Kanto? I have not been there before.

[ Assumption looked at Walter and smiled, tail wagging slightly. ]

[Extra privacy, hmm? Interesting.]

Of course! Would you like to know about the best vacation spots, the most interesting species to find...?

[Not that kind of interesting, Cecil.]

The cities. I have heard of some, but I would like to know more about them.

[ Assumption nodded eagerly. Tell them about Kanto please! ]

Let's see, now... Coming from Johto, you'd likely visit Saffron first. It has the tallest buildings I've ever seen, so tall you'd think they could reach the clouds... And so many stores and offices you could work at a different one each week for a year. The local Gym trains Psychic-types, who would surely be very unhappy to meet your Marowak. But if you feel ill or have a weak constitution, it'd be a terrible place to live.

[ Walter nodded, reflecting on that. Assumption nodded. He could beat up Psychics at the Gym! But first they have to beat the last Johto Gym. ]

Is that where you live?

It's not. I live to the west, in Celadon. The city there is much greener, and it also houses Kanto's department store. It's a short distance away from the cycling road, too, if you enjoy the exercise.

[A transplant from another world he might be, but he sounds very proud of his city.]

I've never cycled before. [ He's aware of riding a bicycle, but never done it himself for many reasons. Mostly due to growing up in a cult orphanage. ]

Celadon is still a large city, isn't it? Are there quiet places?

Plenty, if you step away from the commercial streets. The residential neighborhoods are lively, but not in a manner that forces everyone to participate.

[ Walter hummed ] Are there other cities that are pleasant to be in?

Cerulean is delightful, if you enjoy water in all its forms. Pallet Town is the quiestest town in the region, at the cost of offering fewer services than any city... And there's also Lavender and its opportunities to care for Pokémon, if you are not too superstitious or sensitive to spirits.

[ At his side, Assumption giggled at the idea of Walter being too sensitive to spirits. Walter pet his head. ]

Ghosts are not a problem for me. What do you mean by 'caring for Pokemon'?

There is a house there, for Pokémon who have nowhere else to go. Nowhere else they'd want to go.

[An important distinction.]

But the patience and gentleness necessary are greater than what many possess.

...Pokemon who have suffered.

[ Walter was clearly looking very thoughtful. Assumption patted hishand and tapped his own chest. Walter had helped him after he lost his mom...he could help others. He turned to Cecil and wagged his tail. ]

Are there any other noteworthy places in Kanto?

If you enjoy reading and wish to learn more about this world, there's no better city to visit than Viridian. It's also an unavoidable stop if you ever wish to challenge the Pokémon League. Cinnabar is... noteworthy, in a way, but I'd not recommend it unless you greatly need Fire-types.

Why not? [ he was fond of fire types but wasn't exactly lacking them right now. He had Assumption for one. ]

Because it has little else. The town was destroyed years ago, leaving many Pokémon who particularly enjoy roasting careless visitors.

Ah...it's unsafe. [ He reflects on that knowledge. Not a place to stay then, so not his immediate priority right now. ]

Is this not the perfect opportunity to learn the secrets of teleportation? It's a very useful spell, you know.

And yet, the warp pads now featured in the pokemon centers cannot provide faster service between regions than the train does...

Well, now. That's simply poor design, and a terrible negative influence on this party's attendance besides.

Technically, it's two weeks late, you know. I can hardly be blamed for the hasty rescheduling, considering the circumstances.

[He is going to be there all night, you know. Needs to adapt to the new schedule and all.]

Or at least in the morning.

...I should have, that's true. But the final tests of the Gym's equipment took longer than I thought, and so did the decorating.

[And they've got that sublime aged whisky, the same he drank when he bought the house...]

Well, even so, I suppose you've only yourself to blame if not many can make it.

I suppose I'll simply have to make it last the whole week, won't I? As long as I recover before next Monday evening.

[A good influence, yes; not a boring funless killjoy.]

The paperwork is more or less dealt with. Seven days is plenty of time to be sure everything is perfect.

[Hopefully, because he's definitely not cutting this evening short to start early.]

Excellent. We can certainly arrange for a visit, then. I'd recommend coming at night; that is when the garden looks most impressive.

Though I suppose he could confirm if their confort level is as high as advertised.

That's what the large and noisy Pokémon team is for, of course.
