[Who could it be on the screen but Botan--your local cheerful reaper-in-disguise! She's...not in the kitchen or at the counter of her shop for once! It looks as though she's in Goldenrod's park with her Phantump flying around playing a game of stickball in the background. Next to her on the bench is a Mimikyu, proudly holding up a picture of what looks like a black and white cupcake with a smaller Mimikyu resting on top as a decoration.]

Hello, everyone! I'm announcing a new product in Honeyed Soul, centered on Emiko-chan here. As you can see, it's a chocolate cupcake with an edible Mimikyu on top, but--as a special Halloween treat--like an actual Mimikyu there's a surprise in the center of the cupcake.

[Kyuuuu~ says Emiko. Botan giggles, holding a sleeve-covered hand to her face.]

Well. Of course, the Mimikyu on top is just marzipan and chocolate so there's no trouble there. The cupcakes themselves will be sold in boxes of six and have "surprise centers." It can be a delightful treat like berry cream or caramel, or...a trick. What's the trick? You'll have to find out, won't you?

[Miiii-miii!]

That's right, Emiko-chan, it's a trick or a treat! If you're interested in trying out the game, you can order the pack for 600p or try a smaller sized sample pack of three. Tell your friends, give it a shot, there's no harm in it, is there? If you're not interested, that's fine, we still have plenty of Halloween treats to be discovered in October--and I promise, none of them will have tricks.

[Or there shouldn't be anyway. The feed ends at that with a cheerful wave from Botan and Emiko.]

[A trick, huh? Well, if it is something made by Miss Botan, Armin figures it can't be too bad. And who knows, maybe this will cheer up Jean a bit? He has been down since Anders left even if he's trying to not show it too much.]

Could we share these with our pokemon too? Not as a regular thing, of course, but as a one time treat?

Of course! I can make it in chocolate that's safe for humans and Pokemon as well. Shall I send over some boxes for you and your friends, dear?

[Said as if she would just send them over without expecting payment, considering it's Armin and she's fond of him.]

Two boxes would work, I think. That'd be 1200p, right?

[Because of course he is not just going to accept the fruits of her hard work without paying for it. Botan has already been very generous with them, and really, Armin can afford this. After having worked for most of the month while they rested up at Fuchsia, he feels like he has money coming out of his everywhere.]

Yeeees, but--

[Mimikyu reaches out and smacks her arm. No, Botan, Armin is an independent young man, he can take care of himself.]

Yes, it would be. Any preferences for the kinds of tricks, then? Spicy, sour, not edible? --Oh, and gracious, where are you now, you've been traveling haven't you?

[He's a teenager, after all. Can't wound the delicate teenage ego.]

Oh, in that case... spicy, I think.

[You can still eat spicy food. It'd just be surprising. Wasted food won't go down too well with this bunch.]

We've actually just left the Seafoam Islands. We stayed in Fuchsia for a while, but there's still a few badges left for us to get in Kanto, and it's probably best to try and do that before the weather turns really cold.

[If he is getting Jean a box of cupcakes, he really ought to get Angel one too. He knows she is feeling down over Anders as well.]

Golly, all the way down in Kanto, you've been busy. [A clear understatement, and Armin is still strategizing around the weather--what a clever young fellow he is.]

Of course it would be. I must insist on not charging you for the third box, though, if it's a gift for a friend.

It is but-- Really, I've been working plenty while we were resting in Fuchsia. I don't mind paying for it. You have a store to run, after all.

We ended up here in Kanto after the prom. Jean wanted to bring those Electrodes Team Rocket was using back to their home, and well, once we were already here, it seemed logical to try and see as much of Kanto as we can. It's really pretty amazing.

Those cupcakes are darling, I'll have to come by for a few boxes.

Emiko says thank you, she modeled for the idea herself.

[A sackcloth can look proud of itself and if Lust ever doubted that, Botan's Mimikyu is there to prove her wrong.]

Do you have preferences for what your tricks would be like? They can be spicy, sour, whatever kind. I'd rather give customers an option for knowing what trick will be there if they want.

It's a very clever idea.

Hmmm. Spicy, I think. Spicy blends better with sweet.

It certainly does, I'm afraid since coming here I became a little too fond of spicy chocolate. [Being the owner of a shop centered around sweets she should like them herself, yet here she is talking about spicy.]

I know what you enjoy for your fillings otherwise, but do you have friends or family that have certain preferences?

Make sure there's some cream filled ones in there. I think everyone likes cream...not that hardly anyone's at home at the moment.

... I think we'll go with a pack. Otherwise, Blue's going to hog them all.

[He grins, though. It's nice to see you again, death mom.]

I'll pick it up when I'm back in town, if that's all right with you.

[Space dad! And he doesn't look utterly exhausted or otherwise traumatized, that's a bonus!]

Ah, Armin and Jean took me to Fuchsia while I was passed out. We stayed there for a while.

Oh, Armin! I know him, he's a sweet young fellow. Very intelligent, tends to act more like an adult than he should sometimes though.

[Seriously what is with all these child soldiers?]

He told me about being in Kanto as well, going on the badge journey there. I suppose he's also been making sure you've been healthy in addition to Haunter making sure you sleep.

Yeah, he is. I get the feeling he's been through a lot before he got here.

[Man he doesn't even know.]

Him and Jean both. And they... gave me this. [He takes this opportunity to show off his new spheal. Lifting her up into camera view so she can flap her fins. Wonky and whole.]

Her name is Europa.

I think so, too, but that seems to be the rule for kids around here, doesn't it?

Awww! Hello, Europa! Aren't you a pretty girl? [So fat and cute.]

[Europa waggles her flippers again, half rolling in Shiro's arms.]

[Rakka looks a bit... tired when she replies. She's not even out of her PJs.]

Wow, Botan! That's... [hang on, gotta yawn] That's great! I'm sure plenty of people will love this new idea! I'd like to help you make them when I get back to Goldenrod.

Actually... I've had a couple of bad nights recently.

[While that dessert is extremely cute, there's something else that caught Link's attention.

He's got a thoughtful look on his face and the Carbink nestled in his hair twitches its ears as it bobs around.]

Link wants to know what Halloween is!

[Said young man nods, being careful not to jar his friend too much, giving a faint smile.

He has no idea what Halloween is.]

[~~That's a familiar name. Eh it's probably nothing.~~]

Oh? Well...it means different things in different countries where I'm from, but here seems to go by the Western interpretation. It's a harvest festival specifically tied to the dead and other dark, mischievous creatures. But, as in human nature, they like to make fun out of scary things, so in addition to their harvest they dress up in costumes and exchange treats with one another. It starts in October, as in this month! You should be seeing more festivals related to it soon enough, I believe it's something you should experience rather than being told about.

[Especially since like she implied, she doesn't even come from a culture that celebrates it in the same way as here.]

Link and Gem both look extremely intrigued by her explanation, the young man grinning brightly while Gem bobs happily back and forth.]

Costumes! I want a costume!

[Link let's out a quiet laugh, reaching up to pat her fondly before he switches his 'gear to text momentarily.]

What sort of costumes? And what sort of treats? Is it something everyone can do?

[She will continue to speak as she reads the text!]

Any kind of costume you like! You can be cute, scary, funny--whatever. Usually the tradition is something "scary" like a witch or zombie, etcetera. The treats can range from pies to candy; chocolate, gummy, pumpkin, anything sweet that you like and...yes! Everyone can participate in Halloween, doesn't matter who you are as long as you want to have some fun.

[Are people...usually disallowed from participating in holidays among humans? Well, there's stuff like boy's day and girl's day back at home upon reflection, but still!]

[Link switches the video back on and beams at her now, clearly a little excited about this idea.

Candy. Chocolate. Pumpkin stuff. What more could you ask for???

On his head, Gem chirped in delight, ears flicking again.]

We're going to dress up and make treats! I don't know how to make treats but Link does!

[If you call making anything just throwing ingredients together and seeing what comes out.]

[Okay so he definitely has to get some of these for Ash, Ignis and Prompto--if nothing else maybe it would be a good ice-breaker for him and the blonde?]

Could I get four boxes? Oh, and all Pokemon friendly, if that's alright?

[On his shoulder, Carbuncle let's out a happy twill, the Espeon's tails flicking about.

Of course! Any particular choice of trick? It can be spicy, sour, have a little prize in the middle instead--not recommended for anybody that eats their cupcakes whole by the way--whatever you can think of!

[Sure, "a little prize in the middle" doesn't sound like much of a trick, but would you want to bite into a cupcake and find something like a toy Spinarak instead of cream?]

[Hm..how mean does he want to be..]

Let's go with a prize in the middle. [He grins a bit.] I have a feeling if I did spicy or sour I might get one thrown at me when I give them to my friends.
