[video / action for goldenrod christmas market]
A. Video
[The video opens onto a hotel room, not an unusual sight when so many people who use the 'gear are travelers. On the little table sits a metal ninetales menorah with two lit candles (the center and the far right) positioned at two of the tips of its nine tails. MIPS the Type: Null is hovering a solid two feet off the ground (and at a noticeable angle), the light glinting dully off its helm, apparently transfixed by the glow. Next to MIPS stands Ford, one hand behind his back and the other not visible since it's holding the 'gear.]
Chag sameach, everyone! Happy Hanukkah. Unfortunately due to travel arrangements I won't be able to arrange a party this year, but I felt it worth it to at least make a post. I had considered actually recording the lighting and prayer-- would anyone be interested in that going forward, until the holiday ends? In an unfamiliar world the familiarity of shared community can be worth having.
B. Action
[Ford didn't have a chance to check out the market last year, which means that's where he's spending a lot of time this year. Not just because he has gifts to buy for the frankly startling amount of friends he's managed to earn, but also because as a man who studies other worlds there is something singularly fascinating to him about traditions like this. It's nothing that different from what he'd see back on his own Earth but it still has a quality all its own.
He would have taken MIPS along with him, but the tightly-packed crowd and sheer amount of stimulus made him decide against it. Instead he's brought his Alolan Vulpix. She's perched comfortably on his shoulder and is peering around at the crowd from under her exceptionally-curly mane. Occasionally she decides to bap at someone as he passes by them, so your character might find themselves on the receiving end of an apology from Ford and utter lack of repentance from his ice fox, particularly if they have long hair or interesting clothes on.]
I apologize for her -- she's never seen this many people in one place before.
[There's a lot to do here beyond just keep an eye on his wayward Vulpix. You can catch him wandering about all over the market. Most stalls at least get a once-over (Ford is a thorough man by nature), but he spends more time at some than others. Mostly he stops at stalls of chocolates or knitwear, because look, a man can never have too much chocolate or knitwear (even if none of the gloves are ever made with a six-fingered man in mind). It's still strange and new to him to be in a place where the most pressing thing he has to deal with is the decision between a Pyroar sweater and a Luxray sweater.
Chances are likely too that if he sees someone he recognizes he'll make a beeline right over to them to say hello. It's still odd for him to think of himself as a man who knows people in a positive sense, alright. Let him have this.]
C. Wildcard
[Something not here you wanted to do? Ford's spending some time in Goldenrod, so catch him anywhere!]

[Interesting hair is right. Right in the front of his face. Along with a Mimikyu in a Haunter costume on one shoulder, and a Marowak shadowing him so closely, it may as well be his actual shadow.]
[Mimikyu puffs up her costume at the Vulpix. But Shiro just sort of... holds up a hand in response. For a pokemon high-five.]
It's all right. No harm done. I think we were more surprised than upset.
B for more bonding
In turn, that gets Bertolt to jump, drop to his knees, and immediately start trying to shove his latest purchase into the little backpacks sitting across Freja's back. Shitshitshitshitshit-- He didn't see any of it, did he? Did he? Thankfully he's far enough away from the stall he bought whatever it is from, but what if he saw?]
F-Ford!?
[Come on, backpack! Stop fighting-- There, he finally gets the blasted package in and he quickly drops the flap and starts trying to refasten it.
D-Don't look! Stop--!
B for Bap
Hi!
[It is still very weird, even after a year and change, to have people she can just say hello to out of the blue and it's okay.]
Video
I'd never celebrated properly before.
Video;
Hanukkah is today?
[No, wait. That couldn't be. Armin had checked and double checked the date Ford had thrown his little party last year, wanting to make sure to get his gifts to Ford in time and now the proverbial holiday rug had been pulled out from underneath him.]
no subject
Gus gave a spooked 'hoot' at the sudden bap but Ivy just smiled.]
Oh, don't worry. I think he was just startled.
Action!
Instead he'd swapped them out for some more cheerful Pokemon. Danny was at his side, the Lucario taking in the atmosphere and keenly checking out the displays for gift ideas, with An Tintreach holding onto Ash's back as she used to when she was a Pikachu. Being a Raichu now wasn't going to stop her! In addition he was wearing the hoodie his Pokemon had somehow gotten him for his birthday, styled after a midnight Lycanroc with a thick, warm collar that was taller at the back than the front, and oversized sleeves that he could tuck his hands into to mimick their large front paws.
Ash's clothes being what they were, he should have expected a bap from a Vulpix. He turned to her, curious about the feeling and smiling when he saw the most precious Vulpix he'd ever seen in his life. "Hey there cutie." And then he noticed Ford and his smile only grew. "And hey to you too! How you been holding up?"

[She's been a lot worse than bapped by a tiny ice fox, Ford, even discounting the things that happened back home. Her own Vulpix, of the non-Alolan variety, is slightly less forgiving, shrinking into Penny's neck as much as possible from his perch on her shoulder. ]
[Penny holds out a hand for Vixen to sniff.]
Flynn's fine too-
[Indicating her Vulpix.]
-he's just really shy around new people.
B!
[And Heather is here for the exact same reason that Ford is-- with one marked difference.]
[And that difference is that she actually made the questionable decision to BRING her Null with her into this crowded place. With reason, admittedly-- he's gotta get used to crowds SOMETIME. And he's actually doing quite well!]
[Ford might even spot Snitter in the crowd, standing faithfully next to his trainer, who's in front of a booth boasting rare held items, squinting at the price tags on Brightpowder pouches. To her left, there's an exquisitely arranged pyramid of Life Orbs, twinkling pinkly in the light.]
[Snitter is staring at them intently.]
