we're halfway there~!

Who: The Residents of Second Chance Island & Friends
Where: The Sevii Islands
When: January
Summary: A catch-all log for shenanigans of meeting new people or anything else.
Rating: MOSTLY G -- but with added PG13/R for Krieg

Welcome to the Sevii Islands. Or, one of them, anyway. It looks a little like this, with a house a few hundred yards back from the actual beach. Flowers everywhere. A porch on the house... it's extremely peaceful.

Except for the Voltorbs rolling around. And the flexing Incineroars. A couple Aggron. Spheals rolling and bouncing in the water. There may even occasionally be a whale pokemon or two out in the water.

So yes. It's peaceful.

As long as you like Pokemon.

[ Here's an open log for anything you need in the month of January on the Island of Trauma, aka: second chance island. Tag around, toplevel, whatever, have a party! Train pokemon, go fishing, bum around the house Jean and Armin rented, just to keep things organized in one place. ]

They are cats, after all. Drama flows through their veins. Krieg should see them when they decide they are starving, absolutely starving, right now and oh, why has this cruel fate befallen them.

Big drama queens, the lot of them.

"The one in Goldenrod City?" Armin had visited the remains of that warehouse too and had seen a few of the terrified Pokemon, still hiding behind the twisted remains of their old cages. Team Rocket was just horrible. Someone really ought to do something about them some time.

Though that means this lump of fur is another Rocket Pokemon as well, and suddenly the clingy behaviour starts making more sense. The thought has Armin's brows furrowing, as he bites his lip for a moment. The sort of things Team Rocket puts these Pokemon through is just horrible. It's impossible not to get angry when reminded of it. "What sort of Pokemon is it?"

"Yeah, that one."

Was there another warehouse explosion somewhere that he hadn't heard about? Anything is possible, he guesses, but is it possible that literally all of his friends would forget to mention it to him? That's much less likely.

"It's a..." Always Armin with the proper names for things. And Zen Doll has a particularly tricky one for Krieg to remember, for whatever reason. "Dolly Mocha...Match, matcha, mala, mara, maka! Dolly Maka! Darumaka!"

Success!

"It poops hot coals!"

For some reason that odd little bit of trivia is much easier for Krieg to remember than the Pokemon's species name. And now Armin knows it, too.

Thank you for that knowledge, he didn't want it at all.

Honestly, if it had been any other occasion, Armin would've known better than to ask Krieg for any official Pokemon names. He knows Krieg is no good at those. But his mind had been too preoccupied with thinking about Team Rocket to even think twice about it this time.

Well, luckily it had all worked out. Somewhat.

Apart from knowing about Pokemon poop now, which really, he could've done without.

"That's... nice. So it is a fire type?"

Only the best bits of trivia from Uncle Krieg!

"Yeah! It's really hot all the time."

Like a roasty toasty bean bag. It's great!

"They're supposed to run around a lot? But this one doesn't. It never goes very far." Also, surprise, it sounds like Krieg has actually been doing some studying! Are you proud of him, Armin?

He is so proud his heart might burst.

"It's probably just scared." Well, really, Armin doesn't need the probably. Just look at how it is shoving itself against Krieg's neck like a furry lump. Armin hasn't even seen the front of it yet. "It doesn't want to go anywhere because you are the only thing it trusts right now. At least, that is what it sounds like."

Armin chews his lip for a moment.

"A lot of pokemon that were used by Team Rocket are like that."

"Mmm...Yeah, you're probably right."

Krieg carefully relaxes his supportive hand against Dolly's back to see if the little guy will untuck and let him hold him normally, and...success! Listening to Krieg calmly talking with another human must have calmed him down enough, and he allows himself to he shifted into the crook of Krieg's arm. There, now Armin can see his cute little one-eyed face.

"Dunno what they did to it, but they're never gonna do it again!"

"Hello there."

Once Armin can actually see Dolly's face, he directs a greeting at him, slowly extending one hand for a shake. He's careful to keep his movements slow and measured, as not to startle the little Darumaka. He's been studying how Mr Newt handles his more frightened pokemon, and he's trying to put what he learned into practice here.

Though he does glance up at Krieg's last words, looking at him for a moment.

"If he is with you, I'm sure he won't need to worry about Team Rocket again. You'll keep him safe."
fuelthefire: (I TOLD YOU WHAT WOULD HAPPEN!)

Dolly watches Armin's slowly extending hand, but doesn't otherwise react. He's gotten over his fright - Krieg's relaxed attitude around this small blonde human is definitely helping to relax him. He doesn't make any moves to initiate contact, leaving whether or not that happens entirely up to Armin. He'll tolerate being pet with no problems if that's what Armin's going for, or he'll just stare blankly if all Armin plans to do is hold his hand near his face.

"Yeah! It's been forever since I've broken any skulls, but I still remember how!"

The weird thing isn't how enthusiastically he relays that information. The weird thing is, while he absolutely does remember how to break skulls, he also...doesn't really miss it.

Though that wouldn't stop him from breaking a Rocket's skull if he got the opportunity.

Armin doesn't move to pet the little Darumaka. That, to him, seems a bit too invasive. He doesn't want to startle the Pokemon, after all, and in his mind, a sudden touch could definitely count as startling.

Which means, yes, Armin is just going to sit there with his hand held out, palm up, to Dolly, before he finally drops it with a little, embarrassed look.

"Well, I should probably be telling you to hand them over to the Jennies rather than break their skulls..."

But Armin doesn't sound particularly invested in that. Listen, Team Rocket has managed to rank itself very low on the list of things Armin cares about. At this point, he'd keep Krieg from breaking their skulls more out of concern for Krieg going to jail than due to some sort of attachment to the sort of people who choose to steal and abuse Pokemon.
