we're halfway there~!
Who: The Residents of Second Chance Island & Friends
Where: The Sevii Islands
When: January
Summary: A catch-all log for shenanigans of meeting new people or anything else.
Rating: MOSTLY G -- but with added PG13/R for Krieg
Welcome to the Sevii Islands. Or, one of them, anyway. It looks a little like this, with a house a few hundred yards back from the actual beach. Flowers everywhere. A porch on the house... it's extremely peaceful.
Except for the Voltorbs rolling around. And the flexing Incineroars. A couple Aggron. Spheals rolling and bouncing in the water. There may even occasionally be a whale pokemon or two out in the water.
So yes. It's peaceful.
As long as you like Pokemon.
[ Here's an open log for anything you need in the month of January on the Island of Trauma, aka: second chance island. Tag around, toplevel, whatever, have a party! Train pokemon, go fishing, bum around the house Jean and Armin rented, just to keep things organized in one place. ]

[This is a totally normal occurrence after all. Krieg showing up and getting dogpiled -- catpiled? -- by a bunch of wrestling cats is nothing new. It's sort of reassuring! To see nothing's changed there.]
[Luna's ears perk, and she bounds across the sand, hopping up on the windowsil. And, then, her trainer's shoulders, purring.]
I did -- Jean and Armin gave her to me. I don't think she's got a competitive streak in her... so...
Say hi to my first pet?
no subject
[Perfectly, 100% normal. Except it upset Krieg's new friend...The little guy's only now just stopped trembling, and he's still clinging tight to Krieg's neck.]
That's the kind that likes coins, right?
[He's seen a Meowth before - Tim has one, because of course he does. This one's a lot smaller than Tim's, and it has a cute little jingle bell collar. Also, it obviously adores Shiro - look at her, hamming it up on his shoulders. Freaking adorable.]
She's a good look for you!
no subject
[His own Incineroar has flopped down in the shade by the house, pretending she's way too cool for the brothers' new wrestling match. Because that's a very Cat Thing to do.]
She brings them home, yeah. Still can't figure out how.
[While Shiro somehow manages to keep a straight face as the kitten bats at his bangs.]
I like your new friend too. He doing all right?
no subject
His smile doesn't last long, though. His grin fades and his whole demeanor changes when Shiro asks if Dolly's doing alright, from amused to chagrined.]
...He was. I think the fight scared him.
[And he feels like absolute shit about that. It hadn't even occurred to him that the four-way wrestle match might upset the traumatized 'Mon. He always seems fine when Krieg spars with his own team...]
I didn't think. I should've.
no subject
[Good going metal arm.]
Hey, we all have moments where we don't think like we should. It's all right.
[It's also easy to see how much Krieg regrets it. That says a lot. For the guy who used to casually scream the most random collections of words Shiro ever heard to now be worried about not thinking...]
You realized, right? That something was wrong. And you tried to fix it. That counts for a lot.
no subject
Kyaaa, Shiro-sempai, so cool~Shiro, Krieg will still scream random collections of words if given the right provocation. It's just that the number of provocations are very limited here in Pokeland, and, in fact, seem to be decreasing...
Weird.]
Mnngh.
[He sees your point, Shiro, he does. But.]
Shouldn't've happened at all.
[He relaxes his bracing hand against Dolly's back, to see if the little guy will unstick himself from the crook of his neck and allow Krieg to hold him normally, and is rewarded with the prickling of little claws tightening their grip. So that's a no.]
no subject
It's efficiency!!][Okay, but his point is, the screaming has decreased. Let him be proud of you Krieg. Just accept it -- it was bound to happen at some point.]
This is the part where I tell you everyone makes mistakes.
[He's smiling, but it's sad. Sympathetic. Watching the way the little pokemon stays clinging to Krieg.]
But I also know... hearing that doesn't always help. You're doing the best you can to make up for it though.
I think that's what matters, here.
no subject
He sees Shiro's sympathetic smile, and he actually has to look away. Sympathy's for people who deserve it, not for someone like him.]
Can't undo it, can't go back, can't change it, there's nothing to make up. Nothing's how it was and it won't ever be that way again. The meat man wouldn't listen and now she won't come home.
[Somehow the subject of his objection changed mid-ramble. That hasn't happened in a while.]
no subject
[Yeah, he gets the sense something else is happening here. The little Pokemon probably the icing on the cake, so to speak.]
Krieg, what happened?
[Even as he asks, he sort of wonders if this is the kind of thing their big buddy can talk about. But he has to ask.]
This sure took an unexpected turn
He hasn't told anyone what had happened during the weekend where their powers returned, not even Gaige. But Gaige knows him, and she knows Angel, and she's a smart girl who can add two and two together without his help.
He doesn't want to tell anyone. What he did was shameful, and unforgivable. But Shiro asked, and the guilt that's been eating him from the inside out slams out past the unstable barrier between his mind and his mouth, and his traitorous tongue lays him bare.]
She was so scared. I didn't know why! She wanted to be left alone, but how could I keep her safe if she was alone? She begged me to leave, but I couldn't. I couldn't! And then the stars vanished and there was only the sublime agony of a thousand, thousand needles, and the world was only pain for one beautiful, shining, perfect moment before the end, and everything went black and silent, smothered by blood and bile.
She cried and I didn't hear it. I hurt her and I didn't see it. She still cries and she still hurts and I can't! Take! It back!
[His volume begins to rise toward the end of his rant, but doesn't go nearly as loud as he might have if he didn't still have a small Darumaka pressed basically against his throat.
...Look at that, decreased screaming, just like Shiro was saying.]
trauma island strikes again
[And... this isn't a situation where you can say something like "talk to her, tell her you wanted to protect her". Because this is Krieg. This is Krieg and in that nightmare world, it made sense why he is the way he is.]
You were trying to protect her. Weren't you?
[That, he can understand. Trying to protect someone. Ending up with hurting them. With something you can never take back.]
Krieg, I'm not going to pretend I know what exactly you went through -- you and... her, both. But.
You can't take it back, no. But maybe she'll understand why you did what you did. It might not be right away. And... I can't tell you it's going to feel better someday.
But at least, there's a chance she'll understand.
[He shrugs a shoulder, to carefully reach out and, making an effort to keep his movements clear, telegraphed, put a hand on Krieg's arm.] I'm not just saying that.
I've been there.
apparently 8')
[Despite Shiro's deliberate movements, Krieg still twitches, startled, at the hand on his arm. He jerks his head back to look at his friend.
For some reason, Shiro's admission doesn't surprise him, even though it seems like it should. There's a strange feeling, like trying to recall parts of a long-ago dream, coming over him, and it's weirdly comforting.
We have an uncanny amount of bullshit in common.
That...is also weirdly comforting, and almost despite himself he lets go of his anguish to focus on that, instead.]
...Yeah?
go... us
[He drops his hands. Holds them up to show Krieg they're off him entirely. It's okay, buddy, he's not going to touch you.]
[A shake of his head, apologetically.] I know it doesn't. Believe me, I know. But it's something to keep in mind.
[His shoulders twitch, and he spends a long few moments looking back toward the house before he answers.]
Yeah, Krieg. I have.
\;w;/
...And now apparently it's Shiro's turn to look away. Krieg watches him for a moment before dropping his gaze. Seeing his friend looking so vulnerable is uncomfortable.]
Mnn.
[Wow, this sure got awkward.
Meanwhile, Zen Doll has finally managed to stop trembling. He wiggles very slightly in Krieg's grip, just enough to untuck his face from the crook of his neck and press it against the side of his mask instead. When he begins to gently pat at Krieg's mask with one of his little claws, the psycho laughs softly, and then sighs.]
Sorry about the sads.
no subject
[But when Krieg speaks, he looks back at him, shaking his head.]
No, it's fine. Maybe we needed to get it out, you know?
[A nod toward Zen Doll.] How's he doing?
no subject
[Yes, please, time to move the subject away from sads. Forget that it was Krieg who brought it up in the first place. There's still a little knot of guilt in his stomach for scaring the small 'Mon, but with the little guy making such an effort to cheer him up, it's not hard for Krieg to shift his focus.]
This is the Zen Doll! The Geek Girl found him. She says we look alike.
[Dolly's relaxed enough now to allow Krieg to hold him in his arms, and even turns his one-eyed gaze to Shiro. They...kind of do look alike. If you squint. The 'Mon is the same colors as Krieg's mask, and it's missing its right eye, which is the same eye Krieg's mask keeps covered.
The pokemon is definitely way cuter than Krieg, though.]
no subject
[And he is. He still remembers their conversation, dream-like as it was, about how lucky they all are for these creatures. It's not something you forget easily.]
[The poor little guy gets a smile. And a slow extending of his left hand -- the real one, in case Zen Doll wants to inspect it. No sudden movements, right? They sort of look similar. If you looked at them the right way.]
I can see what she means. You guys have the same look on your face.
no subject
[Man, it's been a while since Krieg's let out the gut-busting laughter. He's not quite sure why Shiro's remark is so funny, but it is. Laughing like this is really damned cathartic, and he giggles quietly for quite a bit longer after the initial explosion of mirth dies down.
Dolly, for his part, is confident that nothing alarming can happen to him while he's being held by Krieg, even if Krieg's uproarious laughter is - in and of itself - somewhat alarming. He watches Shiro's extended hand with some curiosity, but doesn't react to it in any way. He never really reacts much when he's approached by people; as long as Krieg is relaxed in another person's presence, so is he. If Shiro tries to pet him, he'll tolerate the contact with good grace. If he just holds his hand in front of Dolly's face, Dolly will...stare at it.]
no subject
[Finally, someone thinks he's funny.]
[But hey. The little guy isn't flinching away, so he'll take that as a sign he can gently pat Dolly's head. With a fingertip. Because that seems less overwhelming.]
Finally, someone thinks I'm funny.
[May as well say it out loud.]
no subject
Pfmnuhuhuhuhu...You've always been funny, Sugar.
[Dolly's not sure what's so funny, but whatever. The scary fight has stopped, tThe single fingertip patting his head is gentle and kind of soothing, and Krieg is relaxed and happy again, so everything is good in his books.]
Mngh!
[Krieg stands up sort of straight for a moment as he remembers something important.]
I brought eggs for your friends!
no subject
[Krieg gets a brief, grateful grin, before he turns his attention back to Dolly. The little guy is adorable. Who in their right mind would want to hurt it? Or any of these creatures?]
Hm?
[Then there's a broader grin, and a sort of disbelieving laugh.]
Did you really? Thank you, Krieg -- they're going to have a full team before they know it.
