[It might be hard to tell at first, but it is not, in fact, the surprised-looking Flaafy that is shouting excitedly at the Gear. Sharp-eyed viewers might see the two tiny arms wrapped around her middle before Frisk's head pokes out from over the Pokemon's shoulder, beaming and terribly excited.]

I didn't know they can change like this! I was just out makin' friends, but some of th' Pokemon didn't wanna be friends an' Shelly started attackin', an' I was tryin' t' stop it but then she started glowin' an' got bigger an' they got really really scared an' ran away!

[Shelly sighs and pats her trainer's arm a few times, and Frisk blinks before setting her back down with a quick apology, then promptly snatches up the Gear to hold it properly. They might not be happy about the fight, but this is still so exciting!!]

It's so cool! I didn't know Pokemon could change like that! But, um, when's she gonna go back t' normal?

Shelly's th' best! But...she's really gonna stay like this? I thought evolution's supposed t'be all slow an' take ages an' ages?

Yeah, that's how real evolution goes. Evolution here is more like...well, you know how caterpillars and butterflies work, right?

Um, kinda! They hide in a cocoon for a while an' then they fly out, right?

[One of the bits of learning from before their fall that they remember, if only because they'd been one of the ones to actually tend the box with the caterpillars.]

Yeah, exactly. That's called metamorphosis in the real world, but I guess here they just say "evolution" 'cause that's less of a mouthful to say. But most of the time there aren't cocoons involved here unless we're talking little buggy dudes.

[Fun fact: Buddy has not gone back into his Pokeball even once since Frisk got here.]

I dunno, I've been in there and it's not that bad. I mean you don't get cramped or anything, and it's not like you have to make the bed or clean up your shit, either.

Dunno. Sometimes weird sh--things just sort of happen. Like, once a month, or sometimes every Friday. Nobody ever explained them to me so I just sort of figured it was a world feature.
