So, random topic time: what inspires you?

I really had a blast getting ready for the contest, and I think I'd like to do more stuff like that in the future you know? It felt artsy in a different way. Different from dancing or drawing.

And obviously Miss Fortune liked it too. She's been making me swap out my pokemon so she can show all of the ones I don't normally keep on hand the videos.

So where do you guys go when you're looking to be inspired? Are there people you know or knew who inspire you? Maybe a song or a book you really liked?

Used to be back home I would look up famous people from my world and study them. Try to figure out what made them so great. That way I could be more like them. Seriously looking back on it I was taking it WAY too seriously.

[As if she doesn't still.]

Besides when I finally got to meet my so-called hero she turned out to be kind of a selfish tool. So that sucked.

Anyway even if you don't wanna get all inspirational, if you liked Miss Fortune's performance let her know. Maybe she'll send you an autograph or something.

What hero isn't a selfish tool though? Everyone can and probably is selfish.

Inspiration is a necessity. I'll find it even if I have to pry it out of nothing.

Well, not all of them. From my research Wonder Woman is pretty much a perfect magical being. Too bad she's not here for me to test that theory.

I'll give you points for determination, but how do you pry it out of nothing? Isn't there a saying about squeezing blood from a stone?

[ Somewhere Miss Fortune is squealing with glee and sends back an autographed picture of her flexing and winking.]

Anyone naming themselves Wonder Woman is at least arrogant.

There is, but that's why you don't squeeze stones. I just keep trying things until it fits together.

Fair point, but she didn't pick the title. It was thrust upon her by the media after she started fighting for justice and protecting the innocent. Her original title was "Princess Diana of themyscira." It's a whole thing.

[And she's a total geek for strong women of fame and infamy in her world.]

So basically you just keep throwing yourself into it until you figure out what you want to do? Kind of like brute forcing a writers block.

I'd go by the royalty thing. The media is stupid with nicknames. They call me a fairy for example.

Yeah. I don't have time or the patience to wait it out.

You won't hear me arguing. I'm much more selfish then she is though so my reputation is important to me.

...well it used to be. I'm trying not to be so uptight about it these days.

So you're more of a "Hustle every minute" kind of guy and not a "Good things come to those who wait" Kind of guy huh? How's that working out for you so far?

Whatever, if your reputation is important then you care about what others think of you. Not a bad thing. I don't really but whatever.

It's working fine. I get what I need done and it gets done right the first time too because I don't want to have to go back and redo it.

I admire that kind of ambition.

So what is it that you push so hard for anyway? What's your goal?

Victory and food on the table. Simple enough.

So you mean, like... Inspiration to make art? Or inspiration about how to live your life?

I mean...both?

After all most of us are just kind of doing whatever it is other pokemon trainers do right?

...I guess that's true! I started traveling around and roughing it because everyone was saying I should. Tho' I'm not saying it wasn't a good idea! I'm having a lot of fun!

I'm not a life guru or anything, but when it comes to my music, I get inspiration from all sorts of things. Usually from other people's performances, or new sounds I've ever heard before. But I can also be inspired by things that happen to me. Like... Experiencing something amazing that touches me!

Hmm, well that does make sense.

What kind of music do you play?

I play the trumpet! And i like all sorts of styles. I play mostly classical canon at school, but I enjoy stuff like jazz and rock and music from soundtracks too!

Ah that does sound like the sort of skill you'd need inspiration to hone.

I mean you can spend all your time playin what other people have written but eventually you'll wanna write your own stuff right?

I think that's my problem. I feel like I should do something, I should be aiming for something amazing but I don't know where to start.

I've jotted down my own tunes here and there, but I've never written a full composition before-- outside of school assignments, I mean. But I do have fun improvising! That's something that always happens in the moment though, usually when I'm playing with friends.

Is there anything you really like to do? Any talents, or stuff people say you're good at?

Hmm....gymnastics, card tricks, drawing...

[ Breaking and entering, stealing and occasional assault.]

I like to draw but i'm not really great at it. The best skills I have are basically cartwheels, flips and tumbles.

Maybe I should look into dance classes.

Dancing sounds like a great idea! Or maybe something like floor gymnastics? You could try both out and see what you like to do better!

Dunno if there's a lot of call for gymnastics competitions in this world, but I'll look into it. If nothing else I could polish my skills and get better.

Maybe I'm just jealous because pokemon get to have so much more fun and we're just helping them along.

Aww, I think it's just as fun to be around them! I mean, having crazy super powers like how Amp can make electricity or how Kaho-chan can shoot flames out of her mouth would be pretty awesome... But I feel like they care as much about us as we do for them!

Yeah I suppose they do, cute little jerks.

But i do miss it, I used to have powers back home. This feels more like coaching then fighting.

[Or like leading a rag tag group of misfits in petty crimes and mischief...oh wait she's done that too.]

Magic, super science, people from other planets, time travel, even some vague proof of godlike beings.

I used to have magic, and to be honest even if it didn't always do what I wanted? I miss it a lot these days.

That's so awesome! Like something out of a manga or light novel! It must be a lot of fun living there... Tho' I'm sorry about your magic. But Pokemon kinda make up for it, right?

Fun, constantly dangerous and exhausting. It can be both.

Pokemon do kind of make up for it yeah. They're pretty amazing. It's hard to imagine giving all this up.

Yeah... I do wanna go home, but I still really like all the people and Pokemon friends I've made here. I'll miss them whenever I have to go.

Personally? I'm kind of hoping to stay.

I mean even if not me? There are people here who deserve better then the crappy worlds they came from right? So this place is like paradise.

I just wish we had more of a choice in things. But that's not how fate works I guess.

Yeah... Yeah I guess that's true. [Kazuki's seen into the memories of people from those kinds of worlds firsthand, so he believes that some people wouldn't want to leave.] You're right. It's not fair to some people.
