Winter's still kind of an exciting new thing for Jimmy. They always made sure to be not where snow was, except for that one time. Before he came to Johto, Jimmy saw snow once in his life. And it's a lot more fun when you have a nice warm house full of warmth and a hot lunch to pop back into as soon as the cold gets too much.

Plus, he's got some ice types that really love it. Like Icee, the Cubchoo, who's already out in the yard, building what looks like...a wall. A low, round wall of snow. Jimmy's watching out the window, Leif the Bayleaf sitting at his side and looking rather apprehensive about the snow.

"Here, hold on, I'll get your boots and your sweater, you can come play, too." After Jimmy's got his own boots and winter coat and everything else on. But before he bothers with his hat and mittens, he cups his hands around his mouth and calls out loud enough for the whole house to hear him.

"HEY! THIDA! You wanna go play in the snow for a little?" He knows she's not exactly keen on the snow, but it's different when it's your own snow in your own yard. And there's a Blaziken who makes the best cocoa on the block in your house. Plus he just wants her to have some fun. And it's so nice when it's snowing and everything's all white and fresh and just begging to be played with and tramped through.

It takes a moment, but Thida comes out at his call, blinking blearily. She'd been sleeping in - as Inklings are wont to do, even when they spend over a year as a human - but Jimmy hadn't woken her; it just takes a while for her to wake up. She looks Jimmy over in his winter gear, then looks towards the entrance to the house.

"Outside?"

"Yeah!" Jimmy grins and nods, enthusiastic.

"Just out in the backyard, with the Pokemon! Annie's gonna fix up some cocoa and everything. I know you're not snow's biggest fan, but I promise it's way better when you can go inside whenever you want."

She rubs her eyes and gives the promise of hot cocoa some consideration...and then yawns, nodding.

"'Kay."

She's got to get all her snow gear on and ask her Pokemon who wants to come out and play, too. It's less bad when everyone is together, after all.

"Alright!" Jimmy practically beams. "I hardly ever saw snow before I came here, it's still exciting for me. One of my best memories, from being younger, was the one winter we were in a place with snow."

For a lot of reasons. Some of which aren't relevant anymore. But he still loves when it snows here, and can't resist going out and playing in it. Even if he's almost thirty now and that's a scary thought he doesn't want to think.

He takes a seat to finish putting on all his cold weather gear.

Thida brings her own coat and boots back with her as Buru the Granbull follows after her, excitement barely contained as she looks out at the snow. Snow! Snow her trainer is bringing her out into! Snow, snow!

"Mm...had lotta snow at home. Lived in th'mountains, so, always snowy in winter..." Thida yawns, lacing up her boots extra tight so they don't let any moisture in, and then slipping her coat on and doing up all the buttons with a little fumbling. She's still tired.

"We lived in tents and trucks and stuff, so we couldn't really stay places there was snow. Just once when we got stuck there." Sure it had been tough. But they'd made it, and it had been something different.

He glances up and grins at Buru, chuckling a little. Now that is somebody who's ready to go play in the snow.

"So I love it when it snows here. I don't gotta worry about freezing, I can just go out in it for a little while and then come back in and get nice and warm!" He pulls on his mitten-like gloves. "Plus? I got way better winter stuff now. My boots don't leak!"

Ah...yeah, a tent is no good for living in the snow with. Thida nods, and shivers sympathetically. "'S not easy, but, keepin' warm...'n no leaky boots, too. That helps."

Coat's on, now time for gloves, and she tugs those on too, flexing her hands experimentally. Yep, still plenty of motion in there.

"Nah, it ain't. Usually we stayed someplace that was really hot and muggy. There were swamps everywhere and everything. It wasn't too pretty. And there was so many bugs..."

Jupiter, Florida was not exactly anyone's top destination spot. But it was where they'd wintered for as long as Jimmy could remember.

"I tell ya, I don't miss that none. Hot swamps smell awful. I'd be happy I never have to smell a hot swamp ever again. Alright, I'm about as bundled up as I can get...what do ya think, do I need another scarf?"

Jimmy is clearly joking, his own is already thick as two scarves put together.

He may be joking, but Thida looks at him closely, eyes a little narrowed, before she shakes her head. "Nope. Good."

Though now you have her thinking about bugs...and wondering something else. "What's a swamp? Never saw one. Always hot 'n buggy?"

"Trust me, you ain't missing much. A swamp's a big, wet, boggy kinda jungle place. It's full of stagnant, muddy water that's real deep. Alligators live in it, and mosquito, and there's quicksand. And they smell awful."

Jimmy shudders remembering.

"I'm never gonna forget the smell of it."

Oh geez, all he had to say was wet and muddy and already Thida looks not-pleased with the prospect of stumbling into one. "That stuff's a lot a places? Or just some places? Don't know if there's one here..."

And if there is, obviously they need to avoid it.

"Nah, it's not in a lot of places. You get them down in warm southern places. There ain't none around here or nothing. Probably some somewhere, but not close to us."

Jimmy grins reassuringly.

"Come on, let's go have a little fun in the snow! Snow's way better than swamps."

"...Yeah, 's better." She nods. The cold is still not her favorite, and the wet is bothersome, but a hot, wet place crawling with big bugs and bad smells is likely to be worse. Buru hurries out before them on all fours to get out there and roll in the snow already - these humans move too slow for her!

Jimmy just laughs at the canine Pokemon, and follows out into the backyard. Sometimes he still has moments when he can't believe this is his. His backyard, off of his house, that no one's gonna kick him out of or tell him he shouldn't have.

"Ah, this is the perfect kinda winter day! I love how the snow feels under my feet, ya know?" How it tromps down, and he can feel it tromping and it's just one of the best damn feelings in the world.

He bends and scoops up a loose snowball, tossing it for Buru.

And when Buru notices something flying towards her, her first instinct is to catch it in her mouth...and then shake her head everywhere because oH GOD THAT'S COLD. It makes Thida laugh, the bubbly sound already warming her up more than a romp could. "Y'okay, Buru?"

"Buuuuuuu," The Pokemon whines, and then goes right back to rolling in the snow. It feels better on the outside than on the inside!

Jimmy can't help but laugh.

"Thought you liked the snow!" It sure looks like she does. Hell, just watching that happy dog thing roll around was worth the trip out, as far as he's concerned. He's never going to get over how happy Pokemon make him. He can't even explain why, there's just something about them. They're like people, kinda, but...better in a way.

Or maybe that's just Jimmy's experience talking.

"Too bad the yard's pretty flat, we can't go sledding..."

Sledding...Thida perks up a little at that. Living on a mountain could be precarious in the winter, but she remembers little areas where it was safe to sled, where her parents would bring her all bundled from the cold and wet and zip down the slick inclines with her...she hums softly.

"Maybe we can find sledding places? Some other time. Maybe...not mountains, gotta be careful there. But there's gotta be hills."

"Oh yeah, there's hills in some of the parks and stuff! And...I got an idea. Hold on, gonna grab TM!"

Which was one of Jimmy's Pyroar. He can't believe he didn't think of this immediately, what's wrong with him? He used to do it with Ma Petit.

When he comes back outside, his Pyroar with him, he's carrying a sled. And some rope. And grinning widely above his scarf.

Thida waits until he comes back, and looks at him when he returns a little confused. "Gonna...sled with Pokemon?"

"Gonna tie the rope to the sled and TM can pull it!"

Jimmy begins securing the rope to the sled, his Pyroar circling about him excitedly. For a fire Pokemon, he enjoys the snow a great deal. Not like his partner, who remained inside the house and watching out the window.

"Here, he can pull ya around the yard! Hell, we can go down the street, if ya want! There's that bakery on the corner... I dunno about you, but I think fresh warm cookies go great with cocoa."

...This is a new development Thida had never thought possible before. Her eyes light up and she starts to bounce a bit on her heels.

"Aah! Hold on, I'll get money! For cookies!"

She hurries back into the house only to return within minutes, stuffing her wallet into her coat pocket. We're doing this Jimmy, we're making this happen!

Jimmy grins and gets the sled all set up, TM sitting patiently while the rope is attached to him. This was not what he'd planned on doing today, but he likes seeing the humans so excited.

"Alright, your chariot's all ready! Hop on!"

TM's not the only one excited. Jimmy's thrilled at Thida's reaction, and glad he thought of the pulled sled idea. This is gonna be fun!

Having someone or something else pull a sled for you is just something Thida never realized could be done - especially when you can go super fast down part of a mountain on your own momentum alone. She clamors on, and Buru comes over to the side, looking at the setup experimentally, then looking to Jimmy and TM. Do you guys need help? Buru can help!
