[Turning his 'gear on and fumbling with it momentarily, Newt gets it settled on the counter and backs up so he can be seen in full. On the counter behind him is an Archeops with a patterned bandanna around her neck, looking rather excited as she peers at the 'gear then to Newt and back again.]

Hello everyone. I know things have been rather strange as of late--something about a Decidueye over in the Kanto region I believe?--so everyone has their own things going on but I was wondering if I could make a bit of an inquiry.

[He smiles faintly and looks to the Archeops, reaching to gently pet her head as she croons happily.]

This lovely creature is Gwenog. She's been with me since she was just an egg but as of late she's become more and more interested in the idea of battling. I'm afraid I'm not much of a battler myself and I don't honestly train any of my companions for such a thing so I was curious if anyone might be willing to take her on for a bit. Give her a taste of what it might be like.

[Gwen let's out a chirp-like noise and fluffs up her feathers to make herself look bigger. She wants to fight and be strong! She'll do her best.

Newt chuckles and steps out of the way as a Chansey toddles into the kitchen followed by the Audino triplets.]

If anyone would be alright with having Gwenog travel with them for a bit, please let me know and I can arrange to have her transferred to you. I know she would appreciate it quite a bit.

[Oh. Look at that.

Look at that big ball of feathers and fluff. She reminds him a little bit of his Tyrantrum... Actually--]

I-Is she from the same group as some of the other Pokemon? I've got a Tyrantrum that almost looks a little bit like her, a-and his species used to be extinct, I think.

[Even Galliard starts to slink into the frame little by little - it's not often that he's allowed out in the city thanks to how close together the buildings are in Goldenrod, but they're in the park so it's fine, right? He heard dad talking about him, okay? He has to know.]

How, uh... Does she get along with bigger Pokemon? A lot of mine are around my height or even bigger than I am, but they're really gentle.

[In turn, Galliard offers a heavy, vibrating rumble and noses his trainer forward, nearly knocking him over in the process. He doesn't know his own size half the time, but at least he's as gentle as he can be! Though now it's mostly just the end of his nose in view. Whoops.

He's a big boy, but Bertolt adores him all the same.]

Galli-- Easy. [He offers the big guy a gentle pat to the nose and offers a slightly sheepish, nervous smile.]

If she'd like, I... wouldn't have a problem taking her in for a little bit. I've been trying to figure out who to start training so I can try taking on Claire's gym up in Blackthorn again, so she'd be more than welcome to watch.

[That little nod gets an excited snort from the Tyrantrum, his breath both rustling Bertolt's hair and fogging up the screen for a few seconds before Bertolt uses his sleeve to wipe it clean. Gods, Galli, give him a little space!]

I-If you'd like, I could even send you one of mine in return. A lot of them are pretty mellow, but I've got some more stubborn ones if you'd like to try your luck with them too.

[A beat, and he leans back against Galliard's snout, ignoring the way his chin feathers tickle at his neck. Dinosaurs, man. At least Galli and Gwen should get along since they're both sort of related in terms of species, right?]

Does she have any likes or dislikes with food? Or anything I should know about?

If Ryner and I still traveled much, I'd offer to help, but we generally have to stay in one place most the time nowadays...

*not that he's complaining, he does like the job of being a gym leader and all*

The same as usual, mostly. I suppose we must be missing some excitement, as it's been rather quiet here, at least.

I believe some people were complaining about tainted chocolate of some sort? I don't know the details, though.

*he and Ryner aren't exactly the types to bother with chocolate to begin with*

Ah, it is quite interesting, isn't it? Did you end up with any new pokemon from it?

Is that what it was?

*just as well he missed out, then!*

Oh? I've never dealt with a kangaskhan before, though Ryner's raised a deerling.

*and Sion has a blissey raised from an egg, so there's that*

Something like that.

*he's just as glad he never bothered much with candy in the first place*

Well, that's certainly good to hear. Chanseys--and blisseys for that matter--do seem to enjoy helping out, I've found.
dreamsofahero: (you were saying?)

*chuckles*

Just how many do you have, anyway?

Well, now I'm rather curious as to the answers to both...

My, it sounds like you've acquired quite the menagerie.

Some pokemon do have a knack for that sort of thing, don't they?

*he's acquired a few because they basically followed him home...*
dreamsofahero: (in a good mood)

They seem to be quite clever, yes. I've heard it suggested that one reason wild pokemon will battle human trainers in the first place is that a trainer who can defeat and catch a pokemon can likely train it to become stronger.

Re: Video

[personal profile] dreamsofahero 2018-03-15 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely. And why let someone weaker than you train you? It may also explain why some are prone to misbehaving for trainers who haven't earned many badges, if they understand the badges as a sign of strength and battle prowess...
