[After some fiddling, Keith gets the video to start recording on his 'gear. Pictured is a room at the PokeCenter. The floor has got some dark splotches and a bit of smoke still steaming off one smudge. Nearby is a litten crouched down and watching it before looking back at the camera.]

Uh. So. From what I was told this is normal. But -

[The litten's back arches in its crouch as it starts making a noise in its throat. Keith starts reaching for it, his hand coming on screen.] Hey, don't--

How can I make this stop?

[And as if on cue, the litten coughs up a fiery hairball.]

Come on! I just put that out! [Keith growls under his breath and moves to grab her, but she looks at him then darts under the bed.]

I just want you to not set everything on fire while we're here!

[He sort of remembers he's recording now and sighs, the camera getting a good view of the litten under the bed.]

Does anyone know how to stop the hairball thing? I'm... Pretty new to this.

[Since he said he'd get there, he eventually does turn up. After asking several times if anyone had seen the kid in the pokemon center. He's got a grocery bag in one arm, and his Spheal rolling along at his feet.]

[Keith's door just straight up opens.]

[He spends about three seconds standing there, taking in the sight.]

[And then closes the door again.]

[Keith hears the door open. He has about one second to look over and see Shiro standing there with a bag only for the door to close again. He's up on his feet reaching for the doorknob.]

Hey-- Shiro, wait! [He flings it open because holy shit, Shiro.]

don't speak to me that way ever again

[When Keith flings the door open...]

[Shiro's still there in the hallway. He's there and he's doubled over. Laughing and curling up where he stands like a cooked shrimp. Wheezing.]

[... as his Spheal takes matters into her own flippers and rolls inside. Don't worry, she'll handle the smoldering carpet.]

If it already has hairballs, you'll probably just have to wait until it finishes coughing them up... But beyond that, I believe there's brands of pokemon food formulated to minimize that sort of thing, and making sure it gets regularly groomed may also help.

*he's thankfully never had to deal with anything quite that bad though...*

[Noct can't help but look just a bit grossed out when he responds, starting to say something then pausing, which gives the Skitty perched on his shoulder time to let out a mew of greeting.

You might want to ask one of the nurses--the Joys. They might have some good advice? They'd probably prefer you asking to you burning the room down.

Yeah, I imagine they do. Why wouldn't they fire proof a room if they know there are animals like this everywhere?

It's probably hard to make a room that can withstand every thing Pokemon are capable of doing. Even fire proofing can only hold up for so long against certain temperatures.

[He shrugs and Puff Trouble let's out another mew, prompting the prince to reach up and scratch his ears.]

At least the whole room didn't burn down. And hey, at least it's not like he flooded the room or anything.

[Matt was taking a shower. When he gets back, and sees the room literally on fire, he facepalms, but tosses out Kerberos' ball from the table with a sigh.]

Kerberos... do that ice or water thing, or whatever.

[Cheerfully, the Spheal rolls around blowing powdered snow on the fires. Somehow it works.]

[Keith watches him give instruction, then the spheal starting to roll around. He has to pick his feet up so they don't get wet with the snow.]

Yeah, I guess. Kerberos is just extremely enthusiastic, mostly. What this is telling me, though, is that we're going to need to invest in fireproofing and some anti-hairball treats.

There are special types of pokemon food that help with the hairballs, and brushing your pokemon helps a lot too, though they don't always have the patience for that when they are that young. To be honest though, when my Litten was that small, I always ended up keeping a water pokemon on hand just in case. No matter how hard you try, it seems impossible to completely stop the hairballs.

[You don't realise just how flammable everything is until you have a small fire cat.]

It's a cat so hairballs don't really stop. I don't even know how I got this one, how am I supposed to get a water one?

You're going to need a brush and some patience to keep all of that fur from getting stuck in there. You can work on its diet too. Mari's suggestion is a good daily grooming.
