All right, so... Starter Appreciation Day or whatever. Sounds cool and all. I've only been here a few months and I'm still kind of getting settled in so I'm wondering if anyone here's done this before? Some first person accounts of how to make this really special would be nice, you know?
Any ideas? The more the better.
[Mostly because he has two starters and he's not about to mention that on the network, so he wants to do something unique for both of them.]
While I'm here, how many people around here have celebrated a birthday? I don't really have any friends yet, so just kind of looking for something low key to do. Best place to find a cake or something, I guess. I bet they have pokemon bakeries for special recipes for your pokemon and stuff too, right?
(ooc: replies will be delayed for a few days, we got hit by a noreaster and the power's down at home, but I wanted to get this up while I had the chance!)

[Get a cake just because it's Friday, friend!]

It might be a little late to put in an order so last minute for multiple cakes, but- there's a start, at least. I'll look her up.

Appreciate the advice, you been here long?

[That was ... interesting news, okay. He's taking it in.]
Wow, is everyone here that friendly? Letting complete strangers stay with them? I mean that's pretty cool of here, right?

In Goldenrod, a great lady named Botan has a bakery, and she makes all kinds of stuff for Pokemon! She's a really great baker, you should order something from her. She does deliveries!
no subject
Maybe I'll just use it as a kind of "get to know you" day, since- well our first day together was more of a "getting to know this place" day, right?
no subject
Ha, I know what you mean about the first day...it's a lot of adjusting to do!
no subject
Adjusting to weird is kind of just how things go for me, I guess I'm pretty used to it. This isn't so bad though, for crazy new adjustments, I kind of like it.
no subject
And there's fun stuff to do. Have you checked out the Adventure Park?
no subject
Haven't heard of it. I've really just been keeping my head low most of the time I've been here.
[read: studying on how to be a good Rocket and warring with his moral compass.]

It's pretty great, if you're into outdoorsy stuff. And don't mind heights.
no subject
What about you? Home pretty normal in comparison?
[He seems to consider that idea for a moment before shrugging]
I don't mind outdoorsy, did a lot of hiking back on my world. Never really thought about heights though.
no subject
Well, it's the Treetop Adventure Park for a reason. Ever been zip lining?
no subject
[Sounds like this is a big vacation for her too, in his book.]
Zip lining? No, nope. I'm not even sure I've heard of zip lining. What's zip lining?
no subject
Oh man, hold on, lemme find some videos to show you!
no subject
[A pause.]
I take it you're into the whole adventure thing, right? Being the living bridge, that must all come pretty natural to you.
[Not that he can complain, getting a backpack, strange animal and some woods to explore sounded ideal to him considering the alternative back home.]
I think I prefer my feet on the ground though, maybe with a sketch book.
no subject
Oh yeah, I'm all about adventure. You're an artist?
no subject
[Not that he's responsible for an entire pantheon, but details...]
Art student, really. Well, I was back home. An adventure park sounds like it could be fun though, not completely unpredictable like saving the world or anything.
no subject
Oh, cool. And there's plenty of the crazy unpredictable world saving stuff that goes down here.
no subject
[He might sound jealous.]
Man, that's so cool, I wish I had anything like that. I just have the advice of my grandparents and like.. goddesses I'm supposed to help out, you know? No one's really done anything like it before so we don't really have any guidance, it's all just guess work.
[At the next part though, his face falls. Of course it does.]
Seriously-? I get kidnapped to super powered animal island or whatever, where I think I can finally just be a normal human for a change and, what? We still have to save the world, huh? I can't even be surprised.
no subject
Well, it's more like...stuff happens and usually we get involved. But even for major world wide crises...they're not too bad.
But sometimes people leave cakes on their windowsills to cool, even when it's not your birthday!
For free!
no subject
You a god or something back home?
[Enjoy that ego boost if it doesn't go straight over your head, Wrath. Whatever it is, his enthusiasm is amusing.]
no subject
No, God is an illusion!
[Wrath chirps this with the same amount of cheer that most people his apparent age would be talking about a snow day at school.]
I'm a Homuculus.
Our conception is in chemical formulae and our womb is the hubris of man.
no subject
[The laugh barks out of him before he can even stop it.]
God is an illusion, I like that.
[As for the rest of what he says, it's a little above Orion's pay grade, back to the point.]
Guess that doesn't really count as an offering then, huh?
no subject
What's a noffering?
[He knows what offering somebody something means, but "noffering" sounds like maybe it's a dessert or something. And if so, he wants in on it.]
no subject
[How does one explain..?]
Like someone leaving a cake on the window sill, for you. Specifically for you, I mean. As a gift. That's an offering, free cake that people leave you. Just for being you.
On my world they do that for gods, mostly. It can be anything though, candy, meat, some sort of drink.
no subject
... Do you think that's what they're doing?
Leaving them out just for me?
[HE DID ASSUME THEY WERE FREE FOR THE TAKING but the thought that they might in fact be a gift for him specifically had never crossed his mind!]
no subject
[Not likely if the kid wasn't a god, right? But what did he know about how other worlds work.]
That sort of thing isn't unheard of where I'm from, at least.
[Just going to go right ahead and encourage this, yep. Nothing could possibly go wrong.]
