All right, so... Starter Appreciation Day or whatever. Sounds cool and all. I've only been here a few months and I'm still kind of getting settled in so I'm wondering if anyone here's done this before? Some first person accounts of how to make this really special would be nice, you know?

Any ideas? The more the better.

[Mostly because he has two starters and he's not about to mention that on the network, so he wants to do something unique for both of them.]

While I'm here, how many people around here have celebrated a birthday? I don't really have any friends yet, so just kind of looking for something low key to do. Best place to find a cake or something, I guess. I bet they have pokemon bakeries for special recipes for your pokemon and stuff too, right?

Go see Miss Botan! She has a bakery and makes cakes that Pokemon like to eat! And she has cakes for humans too so you can have a cake for you too even if it's not your birthday!

Kind of? I was here before for a few months, then I got sent home, and then I just came back. That's why I know about Miss Botan! She let me stay with her when I first got here.

You know, I've never actually celebrated Starter Appreciation Day before! I didn't know it existed. But it's a cute idea. Maybe spend the day doing what your starter really likes doing best?

In Goldenrod, a great lady named Botan has a bakery, and she makes all kinds of stuff for Pokemon! She's a really great baker, you should order something from her. She does deliveries!

Do what they like best, you know what? There's an idea. Guess I should work on figuring that out, huh?

Maybe I'll just use it as a kind of "get to know you" day, since- well our first day together was more of a "getting to know this place" day, right?

Adjusting to weird is kind of just how things go for me, I guess I'm pretty used to it. This isn't so bad though, for crazy new adjustments, I kind of like it.

Nah, it's not a bad place at all. Surprisingly safe, considering all the giant animals with crazy magic that love to fight everywhere.

And there's fun stuff to do. Have you checked out the Adventure Park?

Trust me, where I come from the animals being alone on that front would be a blessing.

It's pretty great, if you're into outdoorsy stuff. And don't mind heights.

You have gods where you're from? On my world they like to mess with people, have kids with people, hold petty fights that last hundreds of years and shrug off humans as collateral damage. That sort of thing. They haven't been in any real power in awhile but apparently I'm supposed to help fix that. Which got dropped in my lap in high school, so adjusting to weird is nothing new for me and yeah I'll take the vacation.

What about you? Home pretty normal in comparison?

I don't mind outdoorsy, did a lot of hiking back on my world. Never really thought about heights though.

Uh...not exactly, but I get what you mean. We have spirits, they're like gods, but minor ones? And there's a lot. And sometimes they're jerks and mess with humans. And I'm the living bridge between the human world and the spirit world, so...I get you.

Well, it's the Treetop Adventure Park for a reason. Ever been zip lining?

Oh, yeah. We totally have minor gods and demigods and... all sorts of not-gods who are gods or whatever too. Living bridge between them? That sounds like a lot of pressure.

[Sounds like this is a big vacation for her too, in his book.]

Zip lining? No, nope. I'm not even sure I've heard of zip lining. What's zip lining?

It can be. Depending how big a crisis is ravaging the world....

Art student, really. Well, I was back home. An adventure park sounds like it could be fun though, not completely unpredictable like saving the world or anything.

Uh, it can be, but it's not like I'm all by myself doing it. Most of the time. I have my friends and family and a government council to help out.

Oh, cool. And there's plenty of the crazy unpredictable world saving stuff that goes down here.

Man, that's so cool, I wish I had anything like that. I just have the advice of my grandparents and like.. goddesses I'm supposed to help out, you know? No one's really done anything like it before so we don't really have any guidance, it's all just guess work.

[At the next part though, his face falls. Of course it does.]

Seriously-? I get kidnapped to super powered animal island or whatever, where I think I can finally just be a normal human for a change and, what? We still have to save the world, huh? I can't even be surprised.

Yeah, Republic City is like a neutral capital for the world, and there's a council made up of representatives from every nation. So we work together. But I kind of have the power to just...ignore them and do what I want. I don't. Usually. I'd probably screw up a lot more than I do, if I didn't have so much help.

Well, it's more like...stuff happens and usually we get involved. But even for major world wide crises...they're not too bad.

But sometimes people leave cakes on their windowsills to cool, even when it's not your birthday!

[Okay, so neither of these things are even in the least bit weird to Orion. Only because he's the priest of a Greek Goddess and that meant being born without being born wasn't exactly atypical in his experience. And being left offerings could easily be described the way this kid is explaining them, so why not? Sure.]

Like someone leaving a cake on the window sill, for you. Specifically for you, I mean. As a gift. That's an offering, free cake that people leave you. Just for being you.

On my world they do that for gods, mostly. It can be anything though, candy, meat, some sort of drink.
