Hermione this is absolutely fantastic! Miss Botan and I were discussing organizing things a bit better between breeders and this will definitely help with that.

[Honestly he looks a bit relieved because he is still not great with doing much on his 'gear outside of posting to the network so thank you, Hermione, for taking the lead on this.

In his arm, a trio of Togepis let out various chirps and twills of approval..or maybe they're just delighted at seeing someone on the screen. Who knows.]

I hope it wasn't too hard for you to put together?

[Hermione blushes, a little embarrassed at the praise from Newt.]

Oh not at all, it was quite easy. It's a wonder it hasn't been done before really. Has there been any progress on setting up the union? I'm keen to be a part of it.

[There's a chirp in response to the trio, and Hermione bends down to pick up Yorokobi, her shiny Togepi, to greet the others.]

Yorokobi, say hi!

[Yorokobi chitters excitedly, wriggling and flapping his wings when he spots the other Togepi.]

Nothing absolutely solid yet but hopefully we can get something together. Even if it was just a time once a month that breeders can come together to trade tips and swap Pokemon for a time--just a means of opening up communication would be a wonderful way to get to know everyone here.

[As soon as they see Yorokobi the trio--Eru, Appa and Mora--go nuts with happy cries and squirming, Newt shifting is arms to try and keep a hold of them all so they don't fall.]

Easy, darlings, easy! [It's said fondly, of course, the wizard chuckling.] A shiny Togepi--he's lovely! A recent acquisition? [All the noise and excitement has drawn over another Pokemon, Benedict the Togetic peeking over Newt's shoulder with a curious twill.]

That would be wonderful if we could organise it! I'd love to see what other kind of pokemon other breeders have and get advice from people who have been breeders for a while.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get them excited. [Hermione gestures to the trio with one hand, while Yorokobi tries to fit himself through the screen of her gear. Playmates! Let him through!]

Yes actually, he hatched just before I left for your party, and Nurse Joy wanted to keep him for observation to make sure he was okay given his special colouring. Dr Pines gave me the egg. I didn't realise that he would be a shiny though.

[She spots Benedict peeking over and smiles.]

Aren't you pretty? You must be what this little guy will evolve into someday.

Likewise. I know there are a few breeders that have been here for several years already and I'd be very interested to hear what they've learned. [Because he just wants to know everything he can!] There's no need to apologize. Little ones are hard no to get excited.

[The trio respond in kind and seem to want to launch themselves at the 'gear on the counter, Eru in particular trying to worm out of Newt's hold with fierce determination.]

He's lovely--oh! From Ford? That makes him their sibling then! [No wonder they're reacting the way they are.

Behind him, Benedict smiles shyly and waves as Newt glances at him and smiles as well.]

Yes this is Benedict, one of the Pokemon that came into my care when his previous trainer left. He's a Togetic.

Oh that explains why they're so excited. I should bring Yorokobi with me the next time I come visit so he can play with his brothers and sisters.

[Yorokobi chirps emphatically, bouncing up and down in Hermione's arms, and she laughs.]

I'll take that as a yes. It should be pretty soon - Dr Isley has offered to teach me botany. I don't want my studies to suffer while I'm here after all.

It's nice to meet you Benedict.

She has an extensive knowledge of plants from her world; you won't be disappointed at all.

[He's constantly impressed with his lady love, after all.

Benedict squeaks happily and ducks behind Newt, clearly pressing into the wizard's back and making him chuckle softly.]

He's still a bit shy--something we're working on.

I'm very excited to be studying under her! I'm sure I can learn a lot, and hopefully apply some of that back home. [...if she survives the return...Hermione pushes that thought to the back of her mind.]

I have a couple like that too. [As if in response to her statement, her hair moves and her Joltik peeks out. Seeing Newt, he tentatively raises a leg in greeting. Hello previous owner man. Hermione pets him lovingly and he rubs his head against her hand happily.]

Maratus is getting better though. The Ruins trip helped.

I'm sure you'll be able to. Her world sounds fairly similar to ours--though, I..have a feeling it'll sound far more familiar to you in ways.

[Because timelines.

Newt smiles at the sight of the little Joltik and waves with his free hand at the tiny creature as the Togepi chitter.]

I'm quite glad to hear that.

It's really very eye opening meeting people from different or alternate worlds and time periods. It's a pity we haven't been able to figure out how to replicate the trip here so we could go back and forth or actually visit everyone else's world. Although...knowing human nature, that could cause a number of much larger problems...

[Voldemort having access to other worlds or time periods could be disastrous.]

[Newt nodded a bit sadly.]

As wonderful as it would be and fascinating, it would be far too dangerous for anyone to have that ability so freely. I can only imagine what sort of damage would be done to the various worlds..

[Grindelwald would be able to do far too much damage.]

A whositwhatsit?

Is breeding that important?

[She's saw the whole 'breeding' thing in the pack she got when she first came here and then promptly completely and utterly ignored it. On the other hand the second question is genuinely curious and despite what it might seem like, she isn't making fun of Hermione.]

A Breeder Registration sheet - so that there's a list of breeders and their contact details. Once a Breeder's Union has been established they can use the list to keep track of breeders, organise breeder-specific events etcetera.

I think in terms of importance, it's obviously important for a species to produce offspring in order to ensure survival of the species. I think a breeder more...assists in providing a caring, comfortable and safe environment, and helps to care for eggs and offspring and find them suitable homes.

Are there endangered species of Pokemon? Is that possible?

[Because from what she's read and from talking to various pokemon having an endangered species of pokemon seems to be hard? Since any pokemon can breed with another one and produce pokemon of either sort.]

I suppose that's... a reason.

Releasing them into the wild isn't an option in your opinion?

[Again, curiosity and nothing mean about it. The girl seems to know what she's talking about somewhat. More than Ceilidh does. But she might release some of them into the wild... catch, breed and release. From what she could tell they wouldn't have too much problem living out in the wild.]

There are some pokemon that are much rarer than others, and produce far fewer eggs so you could argue that those pokemon are the ones most at risk.

You can certainly release them into the wild if that's what they want, and they can fend for themselves. Some prefer human companionship though.

That makes sense.

I don't really know much about this stuff... but apparently I'm supposed to...

To be fair, they weren't very forthcoming with information when we arrived. The Trainer Guide is terribly vague - I'm actually in the process of rewriting it.

You just sounded like a friend of my cousins'. His boyfriend distracts him by giving him older or poorly written ritual magic textbooks or books on magical theory and he'll spend the rest of the day rewriting the books so they're correct.

[Hermione frowns, looking affronted.]

Well someone needs to do it, otherwise there would be misinformation and confusion. I don't see how updating material to be accurate a bad thing at all.

What if we're not sure about being a breeder though? Do we still gotta register?

I think until the Breeder's Union is set up and creates set guidelines, only committed breeders need to register at this time.

Oh cool that's awesome uhhmmmmmm you don't happen to know by any chance if like say... as just a hypothetical question... What someone can do if they're not really all about fighting pokemon or having them make babies?

You don't have to do either. You could get a job in one of the towns or just travel around exploring or doing research. It's really up to you.

Even as a breeder I work at a Pokemon Centre most days, and I don't force my pokemon to breed - I figure they'll breed if they want to, and I'll just be there to help.

Not a problem. It would be a pretty unrealistic society if everyone was a breeder or a trainer. The economy wouldn't be able to sustain itself.

Thank you Miss Botan! I wanted to help in some way,and I knew there wasn't a pre-existing list. I hope it helps the Breeder's Union. It's certainly helped me organise my pokemon and have a better understanding of breeding mechanics.

Is there any update on the setting up of a Breeder's Union? I'd like to be involved, so please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Well gosh, there's no formal leader of the whole thing, I might have brought it up as an idea but I'm content just helping out. As it stands once we get the directory all organized and up to date, it might benefit us all to set up a centralized forum and an agreed meeting place for in person meetings, should we want to have conventions like before.

I suppose actually having someone designated as leader would be beneficial.

I think it's important to have a leader or a committee to be able to make decisions or rules, or plan events, otherwise there would either be confusion or indecision.

Even in a committee, unless the numbers are uneven to force a majority, there would need to be someone to make the final call.

Do you suppose we should nominate a leader? If I were to think of who I'd nominate I think I would say Dr. Pines or

this is going to sound odd and a little irresponsible considering your age, but I think you'd be a very effective leader, too.

Wait, me? I'm very flattered that you think I could lead, but I don't think I have the kind of experience necessary, and...

...well, unfortunatley most adults won't listen to a teenager. I'd be very happy to be part of the committee though. I could be the secretary and minute taker for any meetings, as I'm very organised?

I think it's important to be organised to ensure you prioritise correctly and efficiently, and maximise your time.

To quote Benjamin Franlin, "For every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned".

Hmm, true. Though some can become so focused it locks them away from inspiration.

I think organisation allows for creativity and inspiration - being unorganised can causee stress and confusion which is not conducive to creative thinking.

Stress for you, but not everyone. It'd do you well to remember that also, ficus.

I know some people might thrive in that environment, but when it impacts others it becomes a problem.

[Aka Ron and Harry always losing their notes or unable to read their own chicken scratchings so needing to constantly rely on her or borrow her notes.]

True. It's a case of not letting your environments clash.

Unfortunately that's difficult when you live and study together all the time.

[Hermione felt a pang. Despite the fact they could get on her nerves sometimes, she was missing her friends.]

Perhaps it's something you master as you get older.
