5th book [Video]
[The feed clicks on to a stunned looking Hermione standing in what looks to be a large barn.]
I'm not sure why it happened but a number of my pokemon have just suddenly had eggs overnight.
Perhaps it's because we've settled into a place and they're comfortable? Do they usually all breed at the same time or do their cycles synchronise when they live in close proximity?
Well, in any case...
[She moves the camera around so people can see the proud(?) parents and their eggs. Umbra was acting...surprisingly possessive, while Cyto just gave Hermione a sheepish look. Abies was doting on Cherise like a mother hen, bringing her water, food, polishing the eggs etc. They both looked over the moon, as did Dawn and Hodur, the pokemon she'd recently inherited from Botan. And then there was...]
I don't even know HOW you two got together! You never stop fighting! No, you know what, I don't even want to know.
[She huffs at her Purrloin who was looking rather too smug, and Glameow, who glowers and swipes at Maneki with her claws. Hermione sighs.]
I guess if anyone is interested in an egg from any of these clutches, please let me know?

[It's said a bit teasingly but honestly Newt knows this feeling all too well.]
Not too overwhelmed, I hope?

I think I'll be fine - I've read a lot of breeding books since I've been here, so I feel confident I can care for them and my pokemon.
I just want expecting so many at the same time. Obviously the books mentioned rough clutch sizes and frequency, but nothing about multiple pairs seemingly synchronising their breeding.
I wonder if any research has been done on it? I should keep a record and note dates and times to see if there are any correlations...
no subject
[Even Newt, who is use to breeding magical creatures back home, had been a bit surprised by how many eggs some Pokemon can produce.]
It could be worth keeping track of over the course of several months to see what sort of correlation there might be. I haven't been keeping track as well as I should be, though once my Lapras start breeding I'll have to be particularly diligent with them.
no subject
Oh you have a few Lapras, don't you? Why would you need to be more diligent with them than your other pokemon?
no subject
Well, of the four I currently have, three are female and one is male. Two of the girls are sisters. I plan to start something of a breeding program with them in hopes of reintroducing more Lapras into the wild and I want to make sure that I keep the bloodlines as varied as possible.
no subject
That's a lovely idea! Lapras are one of the rarer pokemon species, aren't they?
Is this...part of what you did back home too?
no subject
They are, yes. [Newt smiles sadly.] They have been hunted near the brink of extinction and while their numbers have increased I would like to do what I can to help.
It is, yes. Very similar to what I was doing with Graphorns, actually.
no subject
Graphorns were hunted for their horns weren't they? Similar to elephant tusks or rhino horns?
[The whole thing just made Hermione so angry and upset and Newt could probably see it in her face.]
Humans are just so horrid and selfish sometimes.
no subject
They were, yes. It was a key ingredient in particular potions and people became a bit too greedy in acquiring it.
[It's alright, Hermione. Newt completely understands.]
One of the most unfortunate parts of human nature.
no subject
Well...[She debated telling him but then decided he needed to hear that his efforts weren't futile.]
...there have been reports of Graphorns being sighted around the alps of Europe. Not many, but they haven't gone extinct yet, and that's probably because of the work you've been doing.
If I find any Lapras that wish to join me, I'll let you know. Or if not I'll tell them there's a Lapras sanctuary at yours if they wish to visit or pass the word on.
no subject
You..You're serious?
[Wild Graphorns...it was amazing to think about and so much more than he could have hoped for.]
I--yes absolutely. And please do. The more Lapras I can get to help the better. And the more people willing to help the better.
no subject
I'll definitely pass the word on to other trainers or breeders. Hopefully the breeder spreadsheet will also help to identify other breeders who may have a Lapras to help with your breeding program.
no subject
Thank you, Hermione. I greatly appreciate it. And thank you..everything you've told me thus far as well.

I want to buy one of the Misdreavus eggs.
no subject
Why on earth would I give you one of Umbra's eggs? I've seen the way you treated your Cleffa.
And you didn't even read that book I sent you.
no subject
Because despite what you think I'm not some Pokemon abuser. Nort is
just a hellionjust temperamental and more demanding than any of my other thirty Pokemon I've raised. No, I didn't read the book you sent because I know how to take care of my Pokemon. Nort is the one exception because she's
She's different and I'm working on it okay?
no subject
And what happens if tbis pokemon is "different"? Are you going to call it names and yell at it too?
no subject
Do you want to see all my other ones?
no subject
And yes, I would like to see your other pokemon and talk to them before I'll even consider giving you an egg.

[Text -> Video]
Vanitas looks extremely annoyed as he sets the 'gear up against something, clearly not pleased with having to do this but look he really wants one of those damn eggs and he's also not okay with anyone thinking he abuses his Pokemon. So he sets it up and backs off, giving Hermione a view of his hotel room. Scrapper the Houndoom is settled on the ground with Symphony the Buneary, the tiny little bunny eating some berries and occasionally he offers some to Flood who is hovering near him with a shit-eating grin on her face.
This is going to be good.
On the bed is Nort the Clefairy herself who is also munching on some berries with a smug air about her, Braig the Noibat settled beside her and snickering up a storm. A Spritzee is on the Clefairy's other side and looking extremely amused by the entire situation which, of course, just seems to infuriate Vanitas more.]
Nort.
Cle-faaairy?~
Don't you-- [He stops himself and clears his throat, crossing his arms as he glances at the 'gear then back to Nort.] ...I'm sorry I yelled at you and called you a hellspawn. You aren't a hellspawn and I shouldn't have called you that.
[Nort slowly grins, very reminiscent of a Gengar in a way, handing her last berry off to the Spritzee beside her as she stands up and puts her arms up.]
Fairrry~ Cle-fairy!
You... [Vanitas groans and goes over to pick her up prompting Flood to start giggling like crazy, the Phantump flipping upside down in the air in amusement.
Once she's in his arms the Clefairy gives her trainer an oh-so sweet smile--before promptly hitting him with Pound.
Vanitas goes down with a yelp and there's a mix of noises then, a sharp bark from Scrapper as she gets to her feet and shrill laughter from the ghosts and fairies in the room. The 'gear slips off it's perch as a scuffle starts, clattering to the floor.
Hope you're happy, Hermione.]
[Action > Video]
[For safe measures, she hit the record button so she could play it back and analyse it. She studied it intently, not just the apology but all of Vanitas' pokemon in the video. Umbra, bored of looking after her eggs, floated over to watch over her shoulder. Her eyes lit up as she watched the screen, and she started giggling, suddenly zooming back to the egg pile.]
"Umbra, what...?"
[Umbra rifled through the eggs, moving each one to the side after examining it until she emerged with one darker egg and what appeared to be an 'Aha!' expression on her face. She floated back to Hermione with the egg, gesturing insistently to the gear. Hermione sighed and switched to video mode herself.]
Well, despite the outcome at the end, I'm sure Nort appreciated the apology. And since your pokemon all seem to be well taken care of, not to mention it looks like they can easily hold their own, I suppose I can give you an egg.
[Umbra pops into the video, giggling and literally trying to push the egg through the gear.]
It appears that Umbra approves, which is also important. She seems to have picked one out for you as well.
[Action > Video]
Oh your offspring is going to have a good home here, Umbra! Don't you worry!
Flood the Phantump drifts over to peer into the 'gear with a wide grin of her own, waving at Umbra before dissolving into giggles.]
Vani is a good trainer, we promise~ And he'll take good care of the egg! We'll make sure of it!
[In the background Vanitas just groans and Flood drifts backwards allowing Hermione to catch a glimpse of the young man as Nort just snickers. He's laying on his back with Braig flapping about above him and Symphony fussing over him in a worried manner, his ears twitching as he pushes at his cheek.
Trainer? Trainer sir get up!]
Re: [Action > Video]
As long as it has a wonderful fun time as well!
[Umbra looks back at Hermione, nodding vigorously. This is definitely the place for this egg. Hermione still wasn't sure, but if Umbra said it was fine...well she'd trust her pokemon to know what was best.]
If you're fine with that I'll head to Goldenrod Pokemon Centre shortly and send it over. Just let me know where I'm sending it to.
Since you already have ghost pokemon, I don't suppose I need to warn you that they can be a bit of a handful.
[Umbra laughs, not taking offense at all, and cheekily tugs in Hermione's hair.]
[Action > Video]
[It comes out in an exasperated tone, Vanitas not bothering to get up off the floor because this is fine. Everything's fine.]
I'll transfer money over to you once I get up.
That, of course, gets Flood, Nort and Braig snickering and giggling because this has just been an absolute riot to them.]
We'll take good care of the new baby!
no subject
[Umbra nods in agreement as Hermione gives one last stern look at Vanitas.]
It should be at Lavender Town Pokemon centre in a couple hours.
