I need advice or help or something I don't know I just need to catch this Pokemon but I can't find it now!

[Say hello to a very distressed looking Mabel who is looking just a bit worse for the wear. She's just a tad bit muddy, her hair's a bit of a mess with leaves sticking out of it and is that a butterfly net she's waving about in her free hand?]

There was a pig! I saw it! It was bouncing around on it's little curly tail and it was the cutest thing I've ever seen and now I can't find it!

[Her eyes go wide.]

It's been two days.

[She drops the net and briefly one may see a Drifloon or two..or three looming in the background before Mabel's moving, clearly pacing.]

I need to find it! I have to! I have to! There's got to be a way to lure Pokemon out, right? Can I set a trap for them? Does anyone have any ideas???

[Hot damn. It's like Sasha's birthday has come months early. Someone needs help tracking down a Pokemon? Who better than to help that the resident hunter girl?]

I can help! I used to hunt all the time back home. I mean, for food, but even if we're not eating the pig, it's the same method!

What do I need to do?? Sasha, I have to catch one! It's the most important Pokemon ever!

First we have to track it down. Do you remember where you last saw it?

[Sasha's brain is churning with fifty million hunting ideas, all of them viable strategies on how to catch a pig.]

It was by the Pokemon Center! I came out after we got everyone healed up and it was hopping around all cute and adorable like!

[Looking through his own gear for information because he's been living this nightmare for two days. TWO DAYS.]

I don't know Mabel, there doesn't seem to be that much information....which is dumb. Did we bring any pokemon treats? I bet we could set up a trap or something.

[Mabel groans and shuffles over to her brother, dragging her net across the ground.]

I think so? Maybe? If not one of the stores has to have them right?

We can ask the people selling them if there's a certain type this one likes. We'll need to get some rope and stuff for a trap too.

[He's now invested in this as well, if only because CATCHING STRANGE CREATURES.]

Right. Yeah! [Mabel perks up a bit.] Someone has to know what they like if they live here!

Alright! We need to build the perfect trap for a spring pig! TO THE STORE!

Exactly. I bet they get people looking for certain types pokemon would like, all the time.

[After all, they're finally not alone in the whole search for monsters thing.]

Mabel doesn't hesitate to set off towards the Pokemart, net resting over her shoulder again as she marches like a little soldier only to stop and turn around to look at Dipper again.

Walking backwards of course.]

Do you think we should make more than one trap? Maybe different kinds?

[Dipper thinks this over for a moment.]

That might be a good idea. Especially if they don't have any tips on how to catch them at the store.

....we're going to need a lot of rope.

Lots of it. And maybe some nets. And boxes! Oh oh and sticks! We can make those ones that fall when the stick is pulled!

[Because those type of traps always work right? Right!]

And a pit trap!

Mabel....we're going to need shovels.

[They totally always work.]

[How could she forget about pit traps?!]

Yes! Shovels and then we have to find stuff to cover the pit with once we've dug it out--wait, Dipper, can't Pokemon dig?

.....Not all but I bet some of the ones we have can!

Mabel, you have a lot of cat pokemon, do you think they could dig?

[His are less of the type that could.]

Blizzard probably could but then she might just try to blast the ground with ice....

Tabby might be able to! Hambone too! [A pause.] Maybe. I don't really want to put too much on him though..

[She stops, snapping her fingers.]

Truffle can do it! He'd be perfect for the job!

Great, that way we can save money on shovels.

[That. Was just a little too enthusiastic and/or desperate. Mabel's need for bouncy-pig is infectious.]

I mean, you could probably set out berries or food or something, to lure it.

What type of food, though? Aren't Pokemon really picky about foods? I think I read that..

[She didn't really pay a whole lot of attention to the dex entries.]

I do have some berries though! I bet I could get more and set a really big trap!!

A pig-like pokemon that bounces on its tail? That must be a Spoink.

There are several ways to attract wild pokemon. Honey is one strategy, especially if you are trying to catch bug type pokemon. There is also a move called Sweet Scent which attracts wild pokemon to your location. Then there are several pokemon abilities that can make you more or less likely to run into wild pokemon. Off the top of my head, pokemon with the abilities Arena Trap, Illuminate, No guard, and Swarm will make you more likely to run into wild pokemon. Oh, and if you are fishing, any pokemon with Suction Cup or Sticky Hold will make it more likely for you to get a bite.

[When Armin appears on the network Mabel stops her pacing and just stares while he talks, the butterfly net resting over her shoulder now as apparently absorbs what he's saying?

Then he's done talking and she's quiet for a moment more before letting out a giggle.]

So...I gotta admit. I kinda stopped listening for most of that because you're really cute and it was really distracting.

[Nevermind. She wasn't listening at all.]

[Armin practically chokes. He was just here to nerd about pokemon, how did it come to this?]

[Excuse you she is twelve almost thirteen!!!!]

It's nice to meet you, Armin! Do you have a girlfriend? If not we should totally go on a date!

Oh, uh, I'm sorry, but I think you are a little too young for that! Me, I mean. Uhm, you could probably date boys of your own age just fine. Mikasa always said girls mature quicker than boys in that regard, which is probably true.

[He's babbling a little.]

[Mabel just stares at him as he rambles before letting out a snort, covering her mouth with one hand.]

Hmm... have you tried leaving out yummy snacks for it? Maybe some berries, or roots. Not sure what a pig pokemon might eat, but back where I come from pigs enjoy a wide range of foods.

[Gosh what is with all these cute guys appearing all of a sudden??? Where have they been hiding?!]

Not yet, but that's what everyone keeps telling me to do so I'm going to try and set up a trap for it!

[Please excuse her as she maybe bats her eyelashes a little too much, Hunk.]

[Mabel's eyelash batting earns a curious raise of an eyebrow from Hunk. Does she have something in her eyes?]

We're not sure yet but hopefully the perfect pig catching trap around!

[She starts to grin, swinging her arms a bit.]

So what's your name? I'm Mabel!

[Her enthusiasm draws a soft laugh out of him.]

Something tells me that it'll go great. My name is Hunk. It's nice to meet you Mabel!

That is the most perfect name ever because you are super dreamy!!

[Okay, that definitely draws some heat to Hunk's face. His cheeks turn quite red, and his voice squeaks a bit.]

Wha-whahaha, that, uhm, that's... That's... Thank you?

[Mabel puts her fingers to her cheeks as she grins.]

Seems like everyone's already suggested food, and that's not a bad way to start, but if I were to make another suggestion... send out some other Pokemon. Maybe one with a sharp sense of smell. They might be able to track down your little pig.

Could always get a ghost type, too- they're good at phasing through trees and other objects and might be able to catch 'em off guard.

[Never hurts to be creative or practical, really. Nobody ever said you had to stick to one 'mon at a time, after all.]

[Yes. Yes it is. And Riku's an ~older~ man, too, having hit his twenties during his time here.

If he notices the staring, he certainly doesn't comment on it. It's easier this way.]

Dog might be your best bet, yeah. Or a flying type's another valid option- good bird's eye view. Could probably put you in the right direction.
