Why would Mustang have his Vulpix? That didn't make any sense at all. Without bothering to question or explain further he pulled a pokeball off his belt and opened it, releasing another Vulpix. "This one's mine and it sure as hell isn't named after you." The implication seemed to offend him more than anything else Roy had said - ironic, considering the Ponyta - which Ed jerked a thumb at next. "Al calls that one Mustang, but I definitely don't, don't flatter yourself-" There he stopped, because the impulse to call Mustang General died on his tongue, he had to be from an earlier time if he didn't have the patch, but that didn't account for whatever weird crap he was spewing.
Meanwhile the Ponyta continued rummaging through Ed's bag - which the blond ignored - until the Vulpix began pawing at a leg. Mustang glanced down, picking it up and tossing it onto his back without missing a beat, tugging something that resembled a sandwich from the bag and starting to eat it.
"Is that some sort of joke?" Because clearly asking someone if they got a hair cut whose hair was longer than the last time they met had to be sarcasm, right? "Nothing's wrong with my clothes, without alchemy I'm kind of limited on options here, this is the best I could do, all right?" Why was he defending himself, again?
"When the hell did you get here, anyway?"

As Ed let out his Vulpix, the one on Roy's shoulder hopped down to get a closer look. It edged closer like a cat that wasn't sure about what the thing in front of it would do and started sniffing.
"Alright, let's back up. You didn't come here from Riverview?" The thought of running into a third version of Edward Elric wasn't a good one. One was enough for him. "I saw this in your apartment there when I first arrived there." He pointed to the Vulpix. "Alphonse was there too. I think he was the one that called it Roy. Where is he?"
Roy the Vulpix perked up when the Ponyta pulled out something edible. He trotted over to try to get a sniff of whatever the horse was eating.

"Riverview? What's that?" Where the hell would he have an apartment? "I don't know, Al and I always get separated during these stupid weekends. We'll regroup when it's over." Which was, logically, once Roy was gone. That meant Al was here though, as far as Edward was aware.
He groaned when Roy's Vulpix approached Mustang, who shook the bag out helpfully to allow the other Pokemon his own choice of snack. Mustang was always good at finding food when he wanted to, and seemed to have no qualms sharing. "This is getting ridiculous, what are you talking about Colonel?" It slipped out before his brain even registered it, and there was a brief flicker of surprise in his expression at his own words - but he focused his attention on bending down to clean up his pack instead of dwelling on it.

Roy didn't miss a beat at being called 'Colonel.' It's what he expected Ed to call him. "It's a city located on a moon. I know, it sounds ridiculous to me too." So, he was dealing with a third Edward. "It looks like there's just more world-hopping going on. I wouldn't worry about it." Roy knelt down and called his Vulpix over to him while Ed picked up after his own Pokemon, but it didn't seem too interested. Roy the Vulpix was still helping himself to the snacks. Meanwhile, his trainer frowned and stood back up. He'd have to work on that while he was stuck here.
"So, what's it like in the Amestris where you're from?" The sooner he found out which world Ed was from, the better.

If Ed noticed the lack of discipline he didn't comment on it, "You say that like world hopping is normal for you. Where I'm from you never left Amestris." At least, to his knowledge. The question made him frown though, he had a measure for how to tell one world from the next with another Elric or the homunculi, but how much would Roy know?
"Honestly, I haven't been there in years. Before coming here I spent two years in a place called Germany, and I've been here for a full year on top of that."
no subject
"I wouldn't call it normal, but it certainly happened. You had mentioned having been to quite a few different worlds before." He pulled out a notebook and checked it. Yup, Germany was a place the other Ed had mentioned too. So...he was dealing with another version of Ed, but somehow came from the same world as the Ed he met in Riverview? This was getting too confusing too quickly. "It's not important right now. What is important is where we are now." He raised a brow, expecting Ed to answer.
no subject
"Quite a few..? That's the only other one I know of." Did that mean he went to this Riverview place after being here? That didn't seem too far-fetched of an idea if all of this was true. Back to the point though, where were they? "This is Goldenrod, it's a city in a region called Johto. You should have gotten some notes on the place when you arrived, Colonel." As he was already rummaging through his pack Ed grabbed the notes - the paper ones, not the Gear - and waved them in indication. "Everything you need to know is right here, the intro guide to this world and the creatures in it."

Meanwhile, Roy dug in his own pack and pulled out some papers that had been buried under the strange balls and packs of food. He took a moment to flip through it before slipping it in to his notebook where he could read it more closely later. "I see. In Riverview, I found out that people being pulled there can be from different versions of the same world, or even the same world but from a different point in time." He paused, realizing something. "There isn't another version of me running around anywhere, is there?" From what little he learned of his alter-ego, he did know that he didn't like him.
no subject
"The same thing happens here, most of the people from our world shouldn't even be alive... but here they are." He doesn't mention that most of the people here are homunculi, but shook his head at Roy's question. "I've been here a year and I've never seen you, Al might know better if another version of you was here before though. He's been here longer." Much longer.
no subject
"Good." He didn't want to run into the version of himself from the alternate Amestris. From what he had heard from Edward in Riverview, he had a very good feeling they wouldn't exactly get along. "Mind if I ask what you've been up to?"
no subject
"Here? Not a whole lot. Trying to figure out what's going on, but so far I haven't been able to uncover anything that everyone doesn't know already." It really took the wind right out of his research sails, that was for sure. It took four years to get their hands on a stone, and people had been here for nearly a decade with no promising answers.
"Al's working on getting his badges. Lust lets me stay at her cottage whenever I want so I spend a lot of time there, fixing the place up. There really isn't anything all that exciting to do here between disasters and ... weird universe bending weeknds, like this one."
