[Yuuko's finally made it out of Union Cave, and while she's happy about that, that isn't the reason she's making this video. She waves to the screen before speaking.]

Hi, Yuuko here. So I guess this wouldn't be much of a big deal to those who have been here longer than I have, but one of my Pokemon evolved while I've been traveling! And she seems really excited to show it off, so I just thought I'd make this video.

[Yuuko turns the camera to the right, revealing a Steenee that's standing a short distance behind her.] This is Ina! She was a Bounsweet when I caught her, but now she's a Steenee. [Ina waves to the camera as well, but with a lot more enthusiastic bouncing up and down. She has actual arms now! And longer legs! And no longer has to worry about bird Pokemon trying to eat her! The world is now so full of possibilities!

Yuuko just smiles. Her children Pokemon are growing up so fast...hey, she has actual kids at home, so she really can't help but be reminded of her own daughters.]

So, I guess that's really all I wanted to-- [Yuuko is then interrupted by Ina squeaking excitedly and bouncing around even more, the pigtail-like sepals on her head swinging around wildly as she gets even closer to the screen.]

W-wait--Ina, slow down...! [And it looks like Ina got so excited about evolving that she's knocked the 'gear out of Yuuko's hands and cut off the feed. Whoops.]

She seems very excited about evolving. Was happiness a factor?

[Chise can't help but sound amused, try as she might, because watching that scene play out had been kind of adorable.

A Noibat is flopped on her head nibbling on a berry while her Litwick is perched on her shoulder, as usual.]

She's definitely going to keep you on your toes.

Maybe...though I did also use her a lot when we were going through Union Cave. She was pretty useful against any Rock and Ground type Pokemon that tried to go after me.

And she's definitely got a lot more energy now that she's evolved... [Probably because she's happy that she's no longer completely helpless against any Pokemon who'd want her as a snack.] But I think I can handle it. I've got three six-year-old girls at home, so I'm used to high energy.

[She makes a thoughtful sound, nodding--only to pause.]

...Some of the types are better against others? [And here she looks a bit...exasperated.] I should read up on battling more I guess.

[Chise isn't keen on the idea of battling but it's best to be prepared. Especially if she's going to focus on just Ghost and Fairy types for the most part.]

Three? [That..is a lot of kids.] That would definitely prepare a person for just about anything...

Oh, sweet- she looks so cute!

None of my Pokemon have evolved yet- to be honest, I haven't even seen it happen yet, so I don't really know what to expect. But I've heard that it'll take a pretty long time for a few of them to reach that point- like Hammerjaw, and Yamarashi.

Thanks! I think she appreciates that. [Ina's hands are pressed to her cheeks as she smiles at the compliment.]

It looks like different Pokemon evolve at different rates...Ina's the first of mine to evolve, so I think for my other ones it's going to take a bit longer. And I know that some Pokemon never evolve at all.

It's kind of...flashy when it happens? Like, they suddenly start glowing really brightly, and then once they stop glowing they look completely different.

It sounds pretty damn cool, and I can't wait to see it happen for myself.

Yeah, I've heard it can be really variable- and that sometimes Pokemon will just refuse to evolve?

I'll be honest, I haven't actually looked into what my Pokemon will evolve into, and what they'll look like. I kinda want it to be a surprise, you know? I know that Yamarashi's supposed to evolve twice and the second time will need something called a "Thunderstone", though.

Congratulations! One's very first evolution tends to be the most memorable of all. What kind of opponent managed to trigger it? A Pidgey during routine training, a Mareep while facing down a local trainer...?

It was one of those boulder Pokemon with arms...a Geodude, I think? We were almost at the exit to the cave and it wouldn't leave us alone, so I sent Ina out to drive it off and I guess that was enough to get her to evolve.

She had the type advantage, then. That poor Geodude surely regretted its unwillingness to leave you alone, though I doubt it lasted long enough to behold the evolution that followed.

It is! I really wasn't expecting it to happen this soon.

She's definitely got more energy now, but I can't say I can blame her for being excited. She's come a long way from being just a little fruit with legs.

Some of them seem like they change faster than others. It took my Eevee... probably close to a year?

Maybe we should get you a leash for her?

Ah...no, everything's okay. She was just a little too excited, that's all. [It's a good thing Yuuko's 'gear wasn't broken.]

It's pretty exciting when your first pokemon evolves, isn't it?

[Boone remembers his own first evolution, when his Pidgey evolved into Pidgeotto.]

It'll be exciting when your starter evolves, too. Kinda makes you feel proud.

It definitely is. I'd say Ina's even more excited about it than I am. [The Steenee has calmed down a bit from earlier, but she's still happily bouncing in place on her new, stronger legs.]

I'm sure it'll be exciting once my Seel evolves as well, though I guess with her it'll take a little longer.

Yeah, took a while for my Skorupi to evolve. Had to reach level 40. He's sure happy about being bigger, though.

[And like Yuuko's pokemon, Pointy is far more excitable than Boone is about his evolution.]

You got any idea what your Seel will evolve into?

Oh, she's really cute. And no wonder she's excited. I haven't had any evolve yet myself. And I have to admit their concept of evolution was a bit ...strange at first.

But hey, as long as the pokemon are happy with it.

Well, it doesn't happen like you'd think evolution would...it's pretty quick, she just started glowing really brightly all of a sudden and then she looked completely different.

But she's definitely happy about it! Bounsweet tend to be easy prey for bird Pokemon, so I think she's happy that she can defend herself more easily now.

That'll be interesting to see. Also being able to defend yourself better is always a good thing.

I have a few that can evolve, that might in the future. My starter though apparently doesn't. I wonder if there's a reason why some evolve and some don't.

[Lance sounds way too excited about someone else's Pokemon evolving, but this is Yuuko. If he can't be excited for Momfriend, then who can Lance be excited for? Keith? Pfft.]

[She appreciates the excitement, since Ina's day has pretty much been made by evolving...even if she's gotten a bit too excited about it herself.]

Well, it looks like she learned Double Slap when she evolved...but the move she's really gotten good at is Razor Leaf. She basically just launches all these sharp leaves at her opponent.

She really is! [Though Ina's her Pokemon, so of course Yuuko will think she's beautiful. Meanwhile, Ina herself definitely heard the compliment since she squeaks happily and does a little twirl to show off a bit.]
