[Yuuko's finally made it out of Union Cave, and while she's happy about that, that isn't the reason she's making this video. She waves to the screen before speaking.]

Hi, Yuuko here. So I guess this wouldn't be much of a big deal to those who have been here longer than I have, but one of my Pokemon evolved while I've been traveling! And she seems really excited to show it off, so I just thought I'd make this video.

[Yuuko turns the camera to the right, revealing a Steenee that's standing a short distance behind her.] This is Ina! She was a Bounsweet when I caught her, but now she's a Steenee. [Ina waves to the camera as well, but with a lot more enthusiastic bouncing up and down. She has actual arms now! And longer legs! And no longer has to worry about bird Pokemon trying to eat her! The world is now so full of possibilities!

Yuuko just smiles. Her ~~children~~ Pokemon are growing up so fast...hey, she has actual kids at home, so she really can't help but be reminded of her own daughters.]

So, I guess that's really all I wanted to-- [Yuuko is then interrupted by Ina squeaking excitedly and bouncing around even more, the pigtail-like sepals on her head swinging around wildly as she gets even closer to the screen.]

W-wait--Ina, slow down...! [And it looks like Ina got so excited about evolving that she's knocked the 'gear out of Yuuko's hands and cut off the feed. Whoops.]

Well, it doesn't happen like you'd think evolution would...it's pretty quick, she just started glowing really brightly all of a sudden and then she looked completely different.

But she's definitely happy about it! Bounsweet tend to be easy prey for bird Pokemon, so I think she's happy that she can defend herself more easily now.

That'll be interesting to see. Also being able to defend yourself better is always a good thing.

[She thinks for a moment, going over her own team.]

I have a few that can evolve, that might in the future. My starter though apparently doesn't. I wonder if there's a reason why some evolve and some don't.

I had to rescue her from a Pidgey that tried to eat her before I caught her...so I'm not going to rain on her parade right now. [Unless Ina starts bouncing around too much and almost breaks her 'gear again.]

It looks like evolution is different for every Pokemon, so I guess there are Pokemon that just don't need to evolve for whatever reason.

That's good. It looked like she was pretty happy.

[She nods.]

Yeah. They're all pretty different. My starters a Ditto. So technically he doesn't actually have any "moves", he just changes into another pokemon when he fights.

Hmm...so I guess he doesn't really have to evolve, if he can just turn into whatever Pokemon he wants.

Pretty much. Or objects or people. He's getting pretty good at it too.

Though normally he looks like a blob of mutated food paste.

[She loves him, really. He just really does.]

Even if he looks like that, it sounds like he'd come in handy! [Whether in battle or for other reasons.]

I've heard that a Ditto comes in handy for breeders, too, since they can breed with any Pokemon.

Oh he's great. He managed to get me out of a fight with that monk on the scavenger hunt list after he shapeshifted to look like me. His namesake would be so proud.

Yeah, I had a few people warn me of that actually. I'm just a trainer though.

Well, even if something does happen with your Ditto, I think you'll only end up with about six eggs at most. I'm a Breeder, so if I weren't careful, I'd be drowning in eggs... [She still can't get over how many eggs Cecil had put up for sale a while back.]

Really? Okay that's really good to know. Thanks.

So being a breeder. How many could you end up with?

I think at most, I'd get about 10 to 12 eggs in one clutch. And the more common the Pokemon, the more eggs they can produce. [None of Yuuko's Pokemon seem like they're ready to produce eggs, but she just hopes she'll be able to manage it when they are.]

Wow, that's a lot.

I suddenly understand all those egg posts on the gear a lot more now.

Is that something you're interested in doing? I know....well I think as a trainer I'm supposed to go around and battle gyms. But I'm really just trying to figure out what I even want to do in this world. Or you know, what's even an option.

[She is at least used to having limited options. A wasteland will bring those down but at the same time, wow was there a lot going on when she woke up.]

Well, it doesn't seem like any of my Pokemon are interested in breeding at the moment, but I'm still going to keep an eye out for any signs that they are. In the meantime, I'm trying to make my way to Mahogany Town. I've heard there might be a rink there, and I'd still like to give skating lessons to anyone who's interested.

Really? That's great.

I hope they have a skating rink. The places I've been passing through seem like fairly average towns and cities, even based on my limited knowledge. So it would make sense there'd be a skating rink somewhere.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if some Ice type pokemon knew how to skate.

Well, I do have an Alolan Vulpix, and he's an Ice type...maybe if I find some skates in his size, I can teach him. [Yuuko's joking. Mostly.]

[Kim chuckles.]

You never know here. They can certainly surprise you with what they're able to do. I know that much.

Oh, definitely. Especially with the new moves they learn all the time. My Seel is supposed to be a Water type, but she's learned a bunch of Ice moves as well. [Because she'll eventually evolve into a Water/Ice type, go figure.]

Yeah, I bought a Happiny egg and discovered she has a move called flamethrower. Did not see that one coming.

I don't think I've heard of a Happiny...are those ones not Fire types?

Here I'll introduce you. And she's a normal type apparently. So yeah, not a fire type.

[She'll pull out a pokeball and there's a pink round pokemon with what looks like a ponytail in Kim's free arm.]

This is Curie, Curie this is Yuuko.

[Curie waves with a smile. The does not look like a creature that would be able to blast things with fire.]

Oh, she's cute! [How can she not wave back? And honestly, the pink color scheme and the little ponytail reminds Yuuko quite a bit of her daughter Loop.]

So she really knows Flamethrower already? That's impressive.

She is.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's normal or not for pokemon in this place. But it seemed a bit odd.

Then again I bought her egg from someone I think was a breeder so maybe it's more normal then I think.

I think you can breed Pokemon to know moves they wouldn't learn by themselves. I bought Salchow as an egg from a breeder, and he already knew a whole bunch of moves after he hatched.

That makes sense. ....as much as anything here does.

A lot of things about Pokemon are pretty mysterious, aren't they...
