[Chise had spent the better part of two days exploring the Ruins of Alph. She'd been told that plenty of ghost Pokemon inhabited the ruins and she was curious. There was something about the place that felt..familiar in a way--similar to how Elias's cottage and the surrounding woods had felt.

Everything had been going fine for the first day and a half but when she'd finally decided to make her way back out of the ruins...

The video snaps on as her 'gear clatters to the ground, a flashlight hitting the ground nearby as the distinctive cry of a Noibat is followed by the bark of a Rockruff. There's the sound of a scuffle and then flames flare against one of the cave walls and another sound can be heard--

a different Pokemon cry.

A moment later and everything seems to go quiet, the only light being that of the flashlight and the faint glow of whatever had caused the flames from before. Something approaches the 'gear and picks it up, carrying it away from the flashlight and around a corner to where Chise is seated on the ground with her Litwick perched on her shoulder.

She looks a bit confused as a Gastly hovers nearby with a Noibat flapping about beside it, a Rockruff sitting dutifully beside the girl while a Flabebe sits on the canine's head. Whatever Pokemon is carrying the 'gear gets closer and Chise looks up, blinking a few times and one might be able to see tears in her eyes.]

...I.. [She looks away from the 'gear and down one of the paths.] What was that...

[What in the HECK was that sound, that was

That was not a normal, okay sound]

A-Are you alright?

[Chise blinks and focuses on the 'gear once more, reaching for it and taking it from the Pokemon that had been holding it--a Murkrow.]

I think so...it came out of nowhere. It--

[She stops, clearly thinking about her words.]

It reminded me of the creatures that use to follow me back home.

Really? That's...

[Concerning, if it is actually something from someone else's world that hasn't become a human.]

...I-It might just be a Pokemon, but...so long as you're careful you should be fine. I mean, it seems like you've got a lot of new friends who can keep you safe, so...

[Is something wrong, Jane?]

They've been really helpful. [It's said with a relieved look as she glances at her Pokemon who all look quite proud of themselves despite their worry.] We should be able to find out way out easy enough.

[Look, she just. Does not like the 4th wall weekends, okay. They make things too much like home.]

That's a relief. Though, if you're having trouble, if you find someone else in there they may challenge you to a battle first, and then you can ask for directions. It's...better than nothing?

[Well someone is double checking their own pokeball to make sure the Sunken haven't gotten out. Nope, okay good.]

Ah.....I think that might be a Spiritomb. I got one as a starter. They're a ghost/dark type pokemon.

Are you okay?

Spiritomb...it was so angry.

[Malicious. Similar to the spirits that had tried to eat her when she was a child.]

I think so.

Yeah that's...not surprising. From what I've read about them, they're a bunch of spirits that were bound to a keystone. A few of them are probably really angry about that. I got...a bit lucky with mine. They're less angry, more the type to pull pranks if they can, usually with the help of my other pokemon. But of course not all pokemon are alike, even if they are the same type.

[It also helped that her current circumstances back home have more then a few of her pokemon thinking she's some sort of trapped spirit herself back there. The worst part is actually that they're not totally...wrong.]

Um, if you want I can show you what one looks like so you'll know what to avoid?

They're..bound? By what? How?

[That makes them more than just a normal Pokemon doesn't it?

Ghost Pokemon are extremely confusing.]

That might be for the best. I didn't..really get a good look at it.

I'm not really sure. You'd think that's the sort of information they'd include on the gear but apparently not.

[They really, really are.]

Alright, just a second. Let me find a good area.

[And she'll move around a bit and then take out a pokeball, letting the Spiritomb appear next to her on the ground. It looks like a normal one, though it's swirl of spirits is a bit larger then most, not that Alex knows this, having only seen one.]

And this is what a Spiritomb looks like. You can see the rock down there, the swirling parts are the spirits. Apparently they have a gender but I'm not sure how that even makes a lick of sense so I've been ignoring that. They don't seem to mind.

I named them The Sunken, long story, but they don't seem to mind the name either.

[Chise frowns worriedly. Another thing she'd have to try and find information on.

While Alex finds a good place to let her Pokemon out, Chise slowly gets up off the ground with her Pokemon helping her, all of them sticking close to her just in case.

Her eyes widen slightly at the sight of the spirit but she stays quiet as Alex explains, just looking over the ghost-type as the Litwick on her shoulder glares.]

It's so big... [It's said softly.] Yours is a lot less terrifying than the one I ran into in the dark though.

[She nods.]

Yeah, I wouldn't want to run into them in the dark but this one was my starter pokemon. So I was able to get used to them and vice versa. Also helped that they weren't as dangerous as I first thought.

[She shrugs slightly.]

I think it varies from pokemon, to pokemon on how they act. I have a flying pokemon that gives me more grief then some of my ghost pokemon.

If you found a dangerous one though, it might be best to avoid them. ....that probably goes without saying.

You two can understand one another better than if you met them in the wild.

[The one Chise had run into had felt so..it wasn't like when she met Silky, her Gastly. It had felt so different, so angry and sad and that's why Chise had started crying.

It was just so unsettling.]

I'll try. I just need to find my way out of here. Hopefully it...I think it's gone but I hope it doesn't try to come back.

Yeah. Though with these guys, I wouldn't it past them to follow me trying to play pranks rather then flat out terrify me. But who knows. They might have thought that was a prank too.

[Ghost pokemon are weird like that.]

Where are you right now?

That sounds a lot like how the Fae were back home. The Ghost and Fairy type Pokemon here remind me a lot of the Fae.

[It's confusing, she knows.]

The Ruins of Alph.

Yeah? I just had ghosts...or spirits back home.

[Or some version of them.]

I don't think we had fae.

[But then again she didn't think they had ghosts either.]

Oh, yeah that place is filled with ghost pokemon, it's where I found...was found by Calvin Gilbert, my Yamask.

Getting out sounds like a good plan.

*..... oh, Sion's all too familiar with that particular cry*

That would be a Spiritomb. I don't suppose your pokemon know any fairy-type moves?

Belladonna...she's a Fairy-type. I--she only has one fairy-type move so far though.

[The Flabébé in question drifts up to rest on Chise's free shoulder, cooing softly.]

That should probably be fine. Spiritombs are ghost and dark types, which means fairy type attacks are the most effective against them. They can look rather intimidating, for that matter, but they're not really too different from other ghost-types in general.

It felt...it felt wrong. It didn't feel like Silky does..

[She shakes her head.]

I don't know how to explain it. It just felt so sad and hurt.

*oh, that gets an eyebrow raise*

I see... Many ghost types are said to come from various kinds of tragic pasts. It's not necessarily the case for all of them, but in some cases...

Are you thinking of trying to help it?

Maybe not right now..

[It was upset--she was upset. They had scared one another even if it the entire thing had been an accident.]

But if I could find it again..I would like to.
