Video | Can I offer you an egg in these trying times?

[The video opens to Armin looking a bit thoughtful, chin propped up on his hand.]

This September marks my two year anniversary here. It's strange to think how quickly all that time has passed by. Stranger still to think that I'm not even sure if I would've survived this long back home...

[Because when you join a branch of the Military famous for its abysmal survival rates, that is a pretty valid concern.

Then Armin shakes himself out of his reverie, giving the camera an apologetic glance.]

Ah, I apologise. I didn't make this entry just to let my thoughts run wild.

[He straightens up a bit, clearly Ready.]

My actual reason for making this entry is to announce that I've become a breeder. I applied for the license last month and was accepted. It simply felt more in line with my current goals, though they did tell me it is always possible to switch back again in the future.

And now that I am a breeder, I thought... well, I thought it would be a good idea to breed some of my pokemon together. Most of these have served me very well while I took on the gyms, so I thought that might be of interest to people who are currently in the process of doing that.

Though... I may have overdone it a little.

[He adjusts his gear to show a pretty sizable collection of eggs. They are grouped together in smaller sub-groups, different colours of yarn wrapped around each egg to indicate that Armin has been trying to create some order in this eggy chaos.]

[Armin picks up the gear, moving closer to the eggs, focusing on the first group of eggs - five of them in total, three wrapped up in dark-reddish yarn, the two encircled by white yarn.]

I've done my best to try and figure out what these eggs will hatch into with the help of my pokemon. This is all very new to us though, so my apologies if some of these end up being incorrect.

This first batch of eggs was produced by my Piloswine Hannibal and my Camerupt Beatrice. Hannibal, especially, has been invaluable to me in several gyms. The Swinub line is part ground type, so especially if you are taking on an Electric-type gym, they are going to be of great use. They also learn a good spread of both damaging Ice and Ground-type moves. I never ended up using Beatrice in a gym, but as a dual Fire/Ground type, they could certainly do well. Though, I do feel obligated to mention that neither Hannibal not Beatrice has a very competitive attitude. I don't know if this will reflect on any of their offspring. They will fight, but they are not greatly motivated by it.

[Moving on to the next batch - six eggs altogether, three circled with dark green yarn, and three with light green yarn.]

Next batch was produced by my Vileplume Holly and my Shiinotic Gus. Because they are both part grass type and learn very similar moves, these eggs will hatch already knowing most of their possible movesets, which include several very powerful Grass-type moves. Oh, and because Holly has a Hidden Ability, the chance these eggs will hatch with one too is pretty high. For Oddish that means it might have the ability 'Run Away' and for Morelull, the possibility of the ability 'Rain Dish'.

[Onto batch three - Three eggs this time, wrapped up with purple yarn.]

I'm pretty certain all three of these eggs will hatch into Skrelps. Their mother Juniper was actually the first pokemon I caught here and she has always been a strong and dependable battler, both as a Skrelp and as a Dragalge. They are an exceptionally good line of pokemon if you prefer battling by inflicting status effects on your opponents.

[Next little group - five eggs, three with dark blue yarn, two with light blue yarn.]

This next batch of eggs come from my Wingull Webby and my Dewpider Boris. Dewpider especially can make a very good battler. It is part Bug-type, so it has a few weaknesses a pure water-type won't have, but to compensate, Dewpider has the amazing ability called Water Bubble which doubles the power of any Water-type move, while also halving the damage dealt by any fire-type moves. And that is not even including the additional bonus strength when a Water-type pokemon uses a Water-type move.

[Does he sound excited? He does, because Dewpider is an excellent water spider. Wingull is also great, but man, Dewpider. What a catch.

Onto one final group of eggs. Just three this time, circled with yellow yarn.]

Now, I am positive these three eggs are Staryu eggs. Admittedly, in terms of moves, these pokemon aren't going to inherit anything particularly interesting. However, my Staryu happens to be shiny, so there is a small chance these eggs will hatch into shiny pokemon as well. I thought people might like to take a chance on that.

[He sits back, camera back to him. He really got wordy there, but he couldn't help it. There is just so much he wants to say about his pokemon and how valuable they have been to him and how great any potential offspring of them might be. In his eyes, pretty much every species of pokemon has some interesting feature worth talking about.

But, perhaps that is better left for another time.]

I'm afraid I've gone on a bit too long. [After all that rambling, there is now a touch of awkwardness to his face and voice.] Uhm, I'm not expecting any payment for these eggs. I have a job, so I feel that sort of thing would be unnecessary. And, of course, while I spent most time highlighting their potential for battle, they of course also make great companions. All of the pokemon--

[Whatever Armin intended to say next gets lost in a sudden explosion of noise as someone shoves open a door. That someone turns out to be a very, very excited Incineroar, carrying three eggs in his muscley arms, presenting them with pride (and a purr) to the camera.

Armin looks stunned. Absolutely gobsmacked.]

I'll-- Uhm. Give me a moment.

[The camera cuts out. And when it turns back on again, some time has passed. Armin is pinching the bridge of his nose. The camera focuses on the same Incineroar from before, still purring quite happily over his eggs. A second Incineroar has joined him, looking just as pleased with the situation.]

It seems my Incineroar decided to... help out in my breeding efforts. So, I guess, I also have three Litten eggs available. As you can see, both of their parents are Incineroars, so these Littens should hatch with a lot of moves available to them as well.

Just. Just let me know if you are interested in any of the eggs and I'll get them to you as soon as I can.

[And now he is off to find some aspirin maybe and a pokemon-shaming sign for his Incineroar.]

[ooc: an ooc list of eggs and moves can be found here.]

Did you say Swinub?

[Mabel's face is extremely close to her 'gear when she responds, eyes wide as saucers.]

Did I hear you right, Armin?

[Better not to dash her hopes. And who knows. She might get lucky!]

True! He could be adopted by them and have a bunch of moms!
