[Apparently one of her pokemon is filming this because the camera is a bit further away then usual. You can see Newt sitting by a bed, and also off to the side there is an Eevee sitting on the floor. He is also holding onto a dolls head. It's for moral support.

Newt meanwhile looks at the camera.]

I have a question. If you're af...if you don't really like a certain type of pokemon that much. But you still want to get all the gym badges. Do you think it would be easier to get the gym themed for them over with first? Or should you wait and maybe you won't be so afraid of them in the future?

Oh and does anyone knows what this is?

[She holds up a Spell Tag]

Vasquez brought it back after Halloween but I'm not sure what to do with it.

[Link leans in closer to his Pokégear without realizing it, and his Honedge peers over his shoulder.]

I see... I understand, now. [This is closer to the kind of fear he has experience with. He thought...] Yes... That's very hard.

[This changes everything. But what would he suggest... to someone who isn't himself? What if this was... Romani? Or Zelda? ... no, that doesn't work. Link would just offer to be there to protect them. And this girl, she wants to be able to do it herself. But Link's experiences in facing the things that scared him -- He didn't have any choice. And he could force himself to go by thinking of the people relying on him. A gym badge isn't anything like that.

He's quiet again for a long moment, frowning deeply this time.]
... I think waiting to go to that gym would be okay. If you do all the other gyms first... You'll be stronger. And so will your Pokémon. So you'll know for sure that you will be able to protect yourself and your Pokémon, so maybe it will make it easier to face the scary ones.

From what I read, anywhere from a month to three? It really depends on how bad it is and how hard you're willing to work on it.

Well, some look like porkbuns with eyes. Some look like big green shoehorns.

And I say this knowing how dumb we humans look at different stages of our life or when we have a bad day.

[He knows what he looks like after a bad bender.]

What would the consequence for that be right now?

[ Lute looks not to the camera, but to Annie behind it, making a curious sounding noise. He knows what she's on about, but he isn't sure how she'll go about making her points. ]

If you end up not fighting as well as you like, and you don't beat the gym, does that mean you'll stop trying?

[That visibly perks him up. Which is saying something, since he was already pretty perky to start.]

Fire's good against lots of things! And you've already got the Fire Puppy!

Hmm... That's a tough call.

[Riku tips his head down, arms crossed and a thin frown on his face.]

Guess it depends on the level of fear. And the level of your team.

[Since, well, a disadvantage strengthwise will make things trickier.]

Well, that, and where that fear comes from.

[But it's not his business, and he surely doesn't wanna pry.]

Hmm, seems to me you might want to wait until you have some strong pokemon who are perfectly situated to beat them.

Do you know what type of pokemon are strong against these pokemon you don't like?

I think you'd probably feel better about it in the future.

I know. That's why it would probably be a good idea for you to start to get to know the ones here, so you aren't reminded of the things from back home.

Sounds like your Pokemon are pretty supportive of you. I'm sure you'll be fine whatever you decide to do.

I think it's all right if you need to wait a while, Newt.

Get yourself feeling more confident with your team. It'll be easier for you, I think, if you can take it on in one go, and have it done with.

That's true. [He... Didn't actually know you couldn't die here, so he's filing that away for later.] But really, you shouldn't be too worried. You have your friends, I'm sure, and you have your Pokemon. Can't go wrong with having them help you.
lyingheart: (discuss | and i just can't help)

That's something I'm still getting used to myself. So go ahead, ask for someone to go with you, and try. If it kicks your ass, dust yourself off, look for what could have been handled otherwise, and try again.
