[When he said that he wanted to visit Kanto sometime, this isn't what he meant, but...hey, he'll take it. He'd seen the effects of the bodyswapping for himself--he'd walked in on the chaos that was ensuing when his partners were freaking out about the whole situation. Which means that when he woke up in Peter Venkman's body, he was...significantly less panicked than he should have been. After all, what better way to observe the effects of psychokinetic mental transference than through your own eyes and experience?

Unfortunately, any attempt at trying to find his bearings or make any meaningful observations was immediately thwarted by a burly man dragging "Venkman" off to play another round of poker.

One small problem: Peter Venkman knows how to play poker. Egon Spengler does not.]

Fascinating how such a small electronic shock would be capable of completely transferring two peoples minds with each other. It has already been demonstrated that Pokémon can have incredibly powerful effects on the human mind, particularly psychic Pokémon, but what about how other Pokémon interface with the psychokinetic structure of the human brain? What is stopping these creatures from completely dominating the human race?

Oh. Yes. Can anyone tell me the significance of all possible poker hands or perhaps an extensive overview of all the rules of poker? I will need an answer ideally in the next ten seconds

[Anyone familiar with Ray Stantz might find it...unsettling to see him with a perpetually flat expression. And, for some reason, he's wearing Egon's glasses and a janky-looking device over his head that looks vaguely like a colander with multicolored wires sticking out of it. The device is hooked up to a tiny monitor that occasionally spits out nonsensical numbers. He pushes his glasses further up the bridge of his nose and clears his throat.]

Dr. Egon Spengler here. As inconvenient as this incident may seem to most, it gives us a unique chance to study the human mind. I have memorized my own brainwave measurements previous to entering this dimension, and I am thus taking the time to compare that to my current brainwave readings.

[He taps on the tiny monitor, which buzzes with static for a few seconds.]

Despite the change in physical vessel, there appears to be virtually no change, almost as if the body of Ray Stantz had been "possessed" by me. In possession incidents, the host's regular brain activity is suppressed and blanketed by the possessor, usually a ghost or demon of some sort, which causes the readings to appear as though their mind has been completely "replaced" by the new host. However, as I am neither a demon nor a ghost, it is entirely within the realm of possibility that, instead of being suppressed, the host's original mental state could be transferred to a new vessel entirely, as proven and demonstrated repeatedly throughout the week. This means that the host would technically survive even if the vessel was destroyed, which is impossible under the circumstances of possession.

[A pause.]

That being said, if you have had your mind transferred to another person's flesh vessel, please do not cause it excessive harm out of respect of the original host. Human beings are notoriously fragile.

[He adjusts one of the wires on the device before unstrapping it from his head and placing it on the desk. The monitor stops beeping.]

Would you please place the neural oscillation detector on your head? I'd like to make some comparisons between the brainwave functions of my dimension's Ray Stantz and your brainwaves.

I guess, but it makes me feel like a hunk of meat... literally.

You know I've been thinking. You know how I'm pretty sure that Rotom caused all of this? I've been wondering if I should catch some to perform some experiments with! Or at least try building a robot body for once and see how they like moving around in them.

Nonsense. You are far more valuable and important to me than that. [The monitor starts up again, flashing numbers that Egon quickly writes down on a piece of scrap paper. As he writes, he speaks slowly--] I briefly read up on its entry in the PokéDex, but I would like to study one in more detail. A ghost capable of fully integrating with an electronic device without causing any actual harm to the device itself...the possibilities would be endless. [A pause as he goes down the list of numbers. His eyebrows furrow ever so slightly.] As I suspected, your brainwave patterns almost perfectly match my dimension's Ray Stantz. However, there is one key difference-- [He points to a number.] --that I will need to check against Peter. I believe that it is a signature unique to your dimension which differentiates alternate versions of what we would otherwise consider the same people.

Egon please emote i'm begging you

[Well that gets his mind off the "flesh vessel" thing for now!]

Not to mention that, as far as I know, they seem to enjoy the idea of inhabiting vessels like that! Of course I would like to test how much they enjoy it and if they have particular preferences for vessels, but even if they don't I think they'd be fun to have around.

[He loves this funky little ghost and he hasn't even met him.]

Huh, it makes sense that there's a minor difference between brainwaves. There has to be something that differentiates us between dimensions with our subtle changes, like the fact that I smoke in your dimension and how you usually sleep 14 minutes a day.

... Have you been sleeping more these past few days, by the way?

Of course. We should look into obtaining a specimen as soon as possible. Perhaps we should contact Gaige about building a vessel for the Rotom--have you met her? [They're going to end up buried underneath the sheer amount of ghost Pokémon they catch. As for Ray's question...Egon pauses.] I have still been attempting to keep in schedule with my regularly allotted resting period, though I have frequently woken up with significantly less energy than expected. [So...no.]

[ghoststanning]

I have! She's real swell, let me tell you. I kind of want to see if we could build something with each other!

[And WHAT THE FUCK]

Egon! That's still my body, you know! I can't wake up in my body with you running on 14 minutes of sleep every day.

[He's pretty sure he would die!]

...I wasn't aware that it would have a detrimental effect on your body. [Egon rubs the back of his neck, looking down at his papers. This man has like two doctorates] I will...attempt to at least rest for your usual seven hour and thirty-three minute sleep schedule. [He doesn't even know if it's possible for him to do that.]

Most people need at least 6 hours, Spengs.

[A thought crosses his mind of how does Egon know exactly how much he sleeps every night, but that's probably just normal for him. (A second thought also crosses his mind on if Egon watches him sleep and he shoves that thought out so that he doesn't get flustered.]

Well you better, or I'll have Starchild sing you to sleep every night! I don't want to end up sleeping for a week thanks you you.

Well, if it's necessary for your body to fulfill its sleep requirements. Your body as in the vessel I am currently inhabiting, I mean. [It's kind of confusing to talk about this.] As interesting as this whole phenomenon is, I would feel more comfortable if we were to somehow figure out a way to reverse the process the Rotom induced. We've seen that it's possible, as Venkman has returned to his body, but we need to find out what exactly triggers this.

[ghoststanning]

And you'll sleep more once we get you back into your body, okay?

[No arguments!]

You're right. On the bright side distance isn't an issue so we don't have to worry about that variable.

[He hums thoughtfully.]

If it was just the electric shock that was doing this, then it would just be a simple test of finding out the circuit that causes our minds to switch. But since I'm pretty sure the Rotoms have a big influence on the body swap, it throws a huge wrench into it.

[Egon doesn't respond to Ray's question. No promises. You're probably going to have to force him to sleep at a reasonable hour.]

We were both using our PokéGear at the time, and it seems that the PokéGear is the mode in which these incidents occur. These incidents have occured multiple times for you and I--perhaps it is just a matter of arranging the variables in the way they were previously to us being switched, which likely means somehow getting our hands on that Rotom.

But how? Even if we dismantled our own Pokegear, it's clear that they're traveling about pretty much everyone's Pokegear. It would be near impossible for us to find them!

Actually, about that. I've already played two rounds and somehow tripled your token count by just repeating what the person next to me has been saying. A few people have quit already and are giving us less than friendly looks right now.

i you ok first of all thanks for teaching me a new strategy i'll have to try when i get back in my body. are you doing anything else while repeating what people say, or is it just your... Egon-ness that throws them off? second, before you get my body beaten to a bloody pulp, i want you to try to intentionally fuck up your next round make them think you're not a threat anymore, and they'll come crawling back and think you just got lucky before. its ok if you lose some tokens for now did it seem like any of these people recognized me from previous nights? if so this might get difficult

I'm not sure. Someone started crying when I stared at them, but I was merely trying to evaluate what cards they might have. I believe a few called you by your name and asked if you were going to be up to your usual tricks, so I just shrugged. They did not seem satisfied with that answer. I've taken a brief break so I would not look suspicious while communicating at the table, but I will attempt to lose next round. How do I lose

I have successfully escaped out of a window, as you have suggested, without incident or injury. There are more men wearing leather jackets outside. They have not noticed me yet. However, I will not be able to leave without them noticing. I am paralyzed with fear.

fuck fuck ok is there anything you can hide in or under our behind? dumpster, cardboard box, anything? if not, maybe try taking out siskel+ebert- my ostrich- and just. convince the little bastards to let you ride them outta there. theyre fast and you'll have the element of surprise, you should be able to get away before they can even get to one of their bikes [Whether or not the Doduo will actually help Egon is up for debate, but whenever they realize that this isn't their actual trainer they'll probably be more accepting.]

In a hushed tone, he clears his throat and says--] Greetings. If possible, I would like you to assist me in absconding from this situation. [He says this in a tone of utmost seriousness.]
