When you think of the people you left behind, do you imagine them as they were, or as they would be?

Time back home doesn't flow while we're here. I know that. But we feel its effects, so the brain sometimes just... forgets, I guess? And starts thinking about missed retirement parties.

Having to buy six years' worth of belated retirement presents would suck. And don't get me started about birthdays.

And I'm pretty new here so I'm still coming to terms with the whole, time thing. I know it works because I'd have noticed if Krieg were gone but...

Part of me still wonders what they're doing back home and not what they were doing when I last saw them.

Yes. At that point, the dissonance between actual ages and theoretical ages is becoming distracting.

At least you're not forced to rely on third-hand stories to believe it? Not that brains care about that, during idle ponderings. Within a year or two, you'll start wondering who changed jobs and who got married.

Having proof helped a lot. Which is good because I didn't need more things to be annoyed about when I got here.

I'm sure I'll do just that once I get used to the place. Or a variation of those thoughts.

The record was around eight, last I heard. Maybe nine, by now.

Maybe whatever brought us could tell you didn't need to deal with that at that moment, and generously made sure you'd be able to confirm it? Or maybe this is all random, and imagining hypothetical birthdays is how we cope with the sudden lack of certainty in our lives.

Eight or nine? Crap, that's a long time. The people who live here normally really don't care that random people just end up here for years?

Probably that last one. If only because I don't really believe something that grabs people from other universes would care if I believed what people said here or not.

Speaking of that. You probably get this a lot but, has anyone figured out who or what brought us here and for what reason? ....Or just any theories actually?

If they do, I've never heard them say so. Maybe they cared more when it was all new and alarming, before we started matching them at their own game.

That would be kinda reassuring, in a way. If it doesn't actively care, it's unlikely to try to screw with us out of malice. That's easier to deal with.

As for the source of all this... Definitely not the people, probably a Legendary. I haven't spoken with Arceus or Nephelis enough to know if either of them confirmed anything, but they're potential culprits.

It depends, if it did care and attacked us. We might be able to find more information from the attacks and fight back.

But....it would be nice to see something with a great deal of power over people that didn't use it it to oppress and torment them. Those are rare.

Are there many legendary that have shown up here?

I'd find that potential plan far, far more interesting if I had access to my usual weapons. Or any weapon at all that is not at risk of dying if we bite more than we can chew.

We've seen a few. Those three dogs that can screw up the weather, a bunch of birds, the two big fighting ones that were taken over by Teams Aqua and Magma. And the Nephelis/Arceus duo, of course, who've not only organized one party on the moon together, but prepared a scavenger hunt last summer and stopped the fighting ones from destroying the world, respectively. Those two can be added to the 'powerful but benevolent' category.

Fair point. If I had my powers I'd be a lot more confident but even guns would help. Then again maybe that's why we don't get those. Hopefully not that then.

Interesting. Thanks for the information. I've been to a few libraries around here but information about this place isn't as easy to find as I thought it would be for a place with so many books around. It's starting to remind me of home.

Considering even Team Rocket doesn't use guns, getting to keep ours would be an unfair advantage. Then again, it's difficult to shoot if you're frozen or on fire.

At this point, I'm honestly not sure if they're deliberately trying to suppress important information, or if they're just terrible at sharing it. I mean, Entei, Raiou and Suicune got into a very public hissy fit a while back, yet the best source of info on them is still some old legend?

It's not that hard. You just have to keep moving. It's just added motivation to shoot whoever set you on fire in the first place.

Yeah, that seems suspicious as hell. If these creatures are rare and unknown you'd think any new information would be recorded. What did these three do?

Mine doesn't. People are limited to plain old bullets, while mobile suits are usually equipped with energy weapon. Having a flamethrower instead would be nice, once in a while.

Died tragically in a fire, were reborn when a phoenix intervened. ow they tend to cause nasty weather when they're upset. Still, that particular legend's likely to be true; you can visit the burned tower in ecruteak.

There's a pretty competitive market for firearms where I'm from. We've got guns that have Explosive, Incendiary, Shock, Corrosive or Slag damage. Hell one company makes guns that explode when you throw them.

So possibly a true legend that no one wants to update. Was anyone around saying the more recent thing that happened was faked?

Interesting. Maybe we'd have that much variety too, if we didn't have mobile suits. Explosive guns strike me as an accident waiting to happen, though. What if you keep one in a bag, but set it down too roughly?

None that I can remember, except maybe the most hardcore conspiracy theorists. The side effects of their tantrum were VERY visible.

Your bag would explode. Pandora isn't really known for safety. Though the gun always digistructs a new one in your hands after you do throw it. So you don't have to keep buying new ones. They can be useful but I don't use them much myself.

Which makes it stranger that no one documented it in anyway. Or updated some books.

Digistruct? Does the new gun teleport at you right from a warehouse? That doesn't stike me as a sustainable business model.

We could always blame it on the time necessary to write and publish books, but at this point something would be out. Something decently-researched, even.

No, the gun just forms in your hands from the digital blueprint. Digistructing, no warehouse involved.

You'd think something like that would sell well, also. If they only have vague legends.

Seriously? The closest thing my world has to that is unique, takes up half a hangar, and depends on so many system building another wouldn't be a sound economical decision for a planet-wide military. And you're telling yours has guns that show up out of thin air?

Maybe they think it's too recent for people to bother buying it, since most remember the general details.

Just one brand, but yeah. Also Scooter's Catch-A-Ride stations are all over the place. It stops bandits from stealing the vehicles because they don't have the codes to digistruct one. Those are pretty useful when you're out in the wilds.

And are these codes ruinously expensive, or are resources so abundant that creating new guns and cars in the middle of nowhere isn't an issue? Those companies can't possibly save that much on shipping.

The guns are actually on the cheaper side of most weapons. They don't have elemental damage or anything. As for cars it's easier to get them out in places you could never reach, they won't get stolen or damaged by wild animals or bandits or worse. So I'm pretty sure it's a good deal for Scooter.

On the one hand, that sounds extremely useful. On the other hand, depending on its range, access to that kind of technology would have made the war far, far worse.

It's like all technology. It helps and it hurts. And anything that helps fighting is going to make a war worse.

In regards to the fight against Hyperion. The car thing mostly helps our side as Scooter hates Hyperion. And despite ...everything about the guy, he's pretty smart when it comes to mechanics.

Smart enough to compensate for 'everything' else, or would it not be enough if he wasn't actively on your side too?
