19th Match // video // Goldenrod

[Today's home video features Adorababy the Sylveon and an unknown Eevee. 'Dora is sitting on his haunches, front paws and back toes all lined up in a neat little row. He looks mildly confused (but not unhappy) as the Eevee circles around him, headbutting him and rubbing against him like a fluffy kitten. This adorable video is accompanied at first only by the adoring "Veeee!"s enunciated by the worshiping Eevee, but after about twenty seconds of cuteness overload, the cameraman speaks up.]

Is anybody missing a puppycat?

[Whaddup, it's ya boi, Krieg. He sounds just as confused as 'Dora looks. The Eevee is oblivious to all of the confusion it's causing, completely and utterly absorbed as it is in its worshipful adulations.]

It followed us home from Goldenrod and won't go away.

[Eevees are certainly easier to rehome than Voltorbs, but still!]

So... just really friendly, then?

Mnnng...I'm pretty sure the baby wants to be more than friends.

[Therein lies the majority of the problem.

~~Also, the little guy is really friendly and seems really sweet now that he's started trying to butter Krieg up, too~~]

[Well, the world could always use more Eevees, Jean supposes. He'll get one himself someday, if they ever come out with a ghost type Eevelution ~~c'mooooon, Sword/Shield!~~]

I guess he chose you, then. Pretty sure that's your Pokemon now.

Mnnnghh...Sparky, I have too many.

[This is the last time he turns to the network for help. The near unanimous response of "Well I guess he's yours, now" is pretty disheartening. Not that he has anything against the little guy, and if he had fewer 'mons already he'd take him on in a heartbeat, but.]

I just got another egg, too.

[Ah, okay. This is clearly upsetting Krieg, so Jean swallows down any teasing, lighthearted comments he might have about Eevee eggs and gets ready to have a discussion. He knows Krieg would do the same for him, were their roles reversed.]

That's right. You don't like putting them in their balls, do you?

[Or just not letting them be free.]

Do you want me to take him?

[Jean is a good friend ;w;]

The balls are okay. They can come out when they want. But I can't keep everyone with me all the time!

[It's the PC system he hates, really. If he were allowed to keep twenty occupied pokeballs on him at all times, that would be one thing. But, he can't, so he's constantly moving all of his guys in and out of the PC so nobody has to stay in for too long, but the more pokemon he acquires, the more overwhelming the juggling becomes.

When Jean offers to take on the little dude, Krieg looks relieved.]

Have you ever thought about getting a place? When Bertolt and I are in Blackthorn, we just scatter the balls everywhere and then they can choose when and where they want to be out and about.

[It's an idea, at least. And now Maya's here, so they could maybe get a place together?]

Yeah, I'll take him. I don't have a puppycat yet.

[Look out, small Eevee: if you stay with Jean, your name is going to be Puppycat.]

...Not really.

[But that is an idea. It's also part of why he stays so long at Shiro's place...he can let everyone out on the islands and nobody has to stay in the PC.

He'll have to think about it more, though. Like, a lot more. Where would he even settle down? Is such a thing even possible?

When Jean confirms his offer to take the little Eevee, Krieg perks up 100%.]

Sparky, you're the best!

[Why not in Sevii? Krieg and Maya could get a place close to Shiro's, and then all their Pokemon could play together and be buddies! And if one of them wants to travel, then the one staying home can keep an eye on everyone.]

[Jean laughs at the change in Krieg's expression, happy to see that he's feeling better.]

Hey, it's no trouble. Where are you right now? I can swing by with FCAB and pick up Puppycat.

[Yep, that's its name now. That's its name and Jean is its trainer. All is decided.]

[Yes, this is the best plan, and nothing could possibly foul it up. Especially not a headstrong little Eevee who's already made up his mind about a few key things in his life.]

Still in Goldenrod. Didn't wanna leave if it belonged to somebody here.

[Absolutely foolproof plan. Nothing could possibly go wrong!]

Okay. We'll come by there tomorrow morning and I can pick him up then. You and Maya can have breakfast at FCAB! Tell her I'll make her all those sweet coffees I promised.
