[Connor is certainly more cheerful in this video than he was in the last one. His usual polite smile is back, and as ever his Magnezone is hovering in the background.]

I was just thinking about the Type: Null Pokemon again. I haven't met anyone who has one. So I was wondering - if you do have one, what type did you get and why? Or if you don't, which type would you want? I'd like an Electric type one, myself.

Does it evolve at all? Is it friendly? Is it good in battle? ...I realise I'm asking a lot of questions, but I'm very curious.

[And also he's pretty excited to get his sixth badge and apply for one. Being a man-made prototype himself, he's very interested to see what each individual Type: Null is like.]

You should probably also ask somebody if they're gonna need special accommodations or anything, considering how many we have that have to have water.

[That fucking Tentacrool is going to become the bane of his life between the hugs and the drying out.]

I don't think...? It evolves? Question mark?

But I'm sure you can change its type after all with disks that adapt it to different abilities. It's something like that if I'm not mistaken.

Type Null, huh... I've heard of one case of them evolving, but I don't know that anyone's figured out what causes it.

[Oh look, he's actually got a Type Null standing next to him right now, tongue hanging out the side of its mouth happily - somehow this is happening despite the helmet - as it intently watches a stick Ryner is holding, waiting for him to throw it. But of course there's no reason to start the conversation with that part...]

I got one that's a Normal-type. I favor them in general, and I'm almost sure it's their base type, so I guess that makes us part of the control group.

[If there is a control group. Like some sort of Eevee that gains different types, but without evolving.]

Mine's a bit odd, and it needs near-constant supervision, but it's a decent battler. Took ages before it evolved, but that came with a few nice typed moves and an increased appetite.

That would make sense. Being able to change it all the time would make it overpowered as a Pokemon.

That would probably be for the best.

I hadn't thought about it. I was just gonna help take care of yours. Ah... fire. Or dark. I end up a lot of those two so I'd be better at training it.

The only reason I was gonna get badges any was uh...

[He makes a near indistinguishable noise, which draws the attention of some kid near him briefly.]

Was because of you.

I have to admit, I'm pretty interested in them myself. I wonder if they have a psychic type. That seems to be the types I'm leanings towards.

Then again, I'm still not really sure how you get one.

At the time I was thinking if you made it to Victory Road, I didn't want you to have to go on that alone. Figured you'd need me. But I've seen how you did without me. You were alright. So if you manage to do it, it should be your accomplishment and I'll just be there for you at the end of the fight.

[He'd also wanted to surprise him with it. Like a gift. But that seems stupid, he can come up with better surprises than that.]

The trouble would have been keeping it a surprise. One of those little bastards would have ratted me out. [He's going to tease the pokemon forever about their terrible rumor mongering.]

But I might still go for that Type: Null. I'm a lot fonder of artificial things than I used to be.

Before I left, I did have a bunch of my Pokemon trained up for it. I mean, I wanted to find that Sandygast, too. Did that ever turn up? Anyway, yeah. I was sorta already... you know.

[He'd been loosely planning on his dumb surprise. But at least there's one small thing he can get with his work.]

I have some but they're uh... They're a little stronger than I think I should use.

[He turns the video to show Tubbs and Hunter, mainly. Except when he does, Tubbs is licking Hunter between the eyes, and Hunter's looking very annoyed by the whole scenario. He just swivels eyes to look at Connor with the most doggish "why me?" expression.]

Eh, whatever. I can try it later. I'd need some help 'cause I don't know what the shit you're supposed to do in a gym.

A brighter-colored version of itself without the helmet, more or less. Taller, too, but also lighter. Which means it's not any easier to pick up when it decides it doesn't like stairs or curbs.

[That would be one of the possible quirks, but Ash doesn't sound like he minds.]

Okay, yeah, just uh... Just give me a little bit and I should be back, alright? We'll start working something out.

I'll probably wanna go back to Goldenrod first but I think I'd like to be there when you fought. And not just because I want to know you're strategy. I missed your last battle.

[It's important to him and he wants to be there for it. He couldn't help it, but somehow it seems negligent that he wasn't around for the last one. He's always been there before that, even if just to meet him on his way out.]

[personal profile] tearsofademon 2019-05-24 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but honestly I'm not the guy to ask about their evolution, considering.

[Ryner throws the stick, which the Type Null immediately starts chasing after excitedly. Stick! Stick! Stick!]

As for him, his name is Shira, and he's ground type. Rose is the one who picked, but I'm pretty sure it's because I haven't ended up with any other ground types yet, and after the mess that was Jasmine...
