[Connor is certainly more cheerful in this video than he was in the last one. His usual polite smile is back, and as ever his Magnezone is hovering in the background.]

I was just thinking about the Type: Null Pokemon again. I haven't met anyone who has one. So I was wondering - if you do have one, what type did you get and why? Or if you don't, which type would you want? I'd like an Electric type one, myself.

Does it evolve at all? Is it friendly? Is it good in battle? ...I realise I'm asking a lot of questions, but I'm very curious.

[And also he's pretty excited to get his sixth badge and apply for one. Being a man-made prototype himself, he's very interested to see what each individual Type: Null is like.]

At the time I was thinking if you made it to Victory Road, I didn't want you to have to go on that alone. Figured you'd need me. But I've seen how you did without me. You were alright. So if you manage to do it, it should be your accomplishment and I'll just be there for you at the end of the fight.

[He'd also wanted to surprise him with it. Like a gift. But that seems stupid, he can come up with better surprises than that.]

[Connor gives Hank a genuine smile at that, obviously flattered.]

That's a lot of trouble to go through just for me. Thank you.

[He wants to believe he'll get to Victory Road eventually, but it'll be a long time from now. He hopes Hank is still around for it.]

The trouble would have been keeping it a surprise. One of those little bastards would have ratted me out. [He's going to tease the pokemon forever about their terrible rumor mongering.]

But I might still go for that Type: Null. I'm a lot fonder of artificial things than I used to be.

[You're going to make him blush, Hank.]

It would be something for you to work towards. Though don't forget, we're staying in Goldenrod for a while after we're done here.

Before I left, I did have a bunch of my Pokemon trained up for it. I mean, I wanted to find that Sandygast, too. Did that ever turn up? Anyway, yeah. I was sorta already... you know.

[He'd been loosely planning on his dumb surprise. But at least there's one small thing he can get with his work.]

The Sandygast never showed up, no.

[His smile falters a little, because being reminded that people actually steal Pokemon while your partner is being romantic is a bit of a mood killer.]

I think if you have enough strong fire types, you could take on Olivine's gym fairly easily. The type used there is mainly Steel.

I have some but they're uh... They're a little stronger than I think I should use.

[He turns the video to show Tubbs and Hunter, mainly. Except when he does, Tubbs is licking Hunter between the eyes, and Hunter's looking very annoyed by the whole scenario. He just swivels eyes to look at Connor with the most doggish "why me?" expression.]

Eh, whatever. I can try it later. I'd need some help 'cause I don't know what the shit you're supposed to do in a gym.

I've used level 100 Pokemon before. Not an entire team, though.

[That would feel a little bit cheap, yes.]

Having one as backup isn't such a bad idea. In any case, I can probably answer any questions you have.

Okay, yeah, just uh... Just give me a little bit and I should be back, alright? We'll start working something out.

I'll probably wanna go back to Goldenrod first but I think I'd like to be there when you fought. And not just because I want to know you're strategy. I missed your last battle.

[It's important to him and he wants to be there for it. He couldn't help it, but somehow it seems negligent that he wasn't around for the last one. He's always been there before that, even if just to meet him on his way out.]

Where are you right now?

[He moves to sit on the bed, patting the Vulpix that comes to sit with him.]

I promise we'll go back to Goldenrod after this badge. I could use a break, I guess.

[He tends to like the work put into battling and earning badges, but he wants to spend more time with Hank.]

I'm literally just back in the city and hungry as fuck. So I need food, and then I'll come to the hotel.

I know. It'll be good to go home.

[Which is a strange thing to think, being that he just left home back home and now he's going home away from home. Fuck it. It has a bed and it hopefully still has a Hank Shaped groove in it.]

I'll wait here for you. Try to pick something healthy, won't you?

[And before Hank can potentially argue, he cuts the feed. Hank will find Connor with a Growlithe and a Vulpix both lying on him when he comes back, and Crockett beeping insistently at them because it wants more attention than it's getting. Connor looks like he has a headache because of it.]

[He doesn't want to eat anything healthy. God. He has to have a salad. He doesn't want a salad. But this is his life now because he has to lose all this weight all over again. This is his fucking lot in life for being sent to fucking Detroit for the whole span of three goddamn days.]

[Hank eventually shows up, expecting to be greeted. Instead, that greeting is seeing Connor covered in pokemon.]

Guys, I brought some of mine back. [He gestures out the door.]

Go bother them. Go. Go on.

[He needs to save his partner, he looks like he's suffering.]

[The Pokemon get up and head out to the other room to greet Hank's Pokemon, and Connor sits up and gives Hank a grateful smile.]

Thank you.

[He heads over to Hank and hugs him, then kisses his cheek and fusses with his hair.]

How was your trip?

[He hugs him back, before leaving his arms loosely around him.]

Fuckin' long. And hot. But I'm back, I got 'em. You look like you could still stand more laying down. [He nudges the tip of Connor's nose with his own.] Go on. I'll get you some water and then I'll lay down too and we'll ignore them if we hear anything break.

[He enjoys the way Connor plays with his hair like this. At this rate, the most he'll ever do is trim it. He likes feeling his stupid twink fingers in it too much to cut it.]

[Connor steps back and climbs back onto the bed, waiting for Hank. He sips at his water when it's handed to him, then sets the glass on the nightstand and pulls Hank to lay down with him. He hears a familiar roar in the other room though, and he furrows his brows.]

Is that Pointy?

[He settles onto the bed with him. He aches less now that he can just fuckin' ride his dog from place to place. Which is still strange as fuck, don't get him wrong. But it's less of a chore. He supposes when he gets back to Goldenrod and takes up some sort of shitty busy work to bring in a daily income, he'll start coming in sore all the time again.]

Yeah. That's who that is.

[Then there's that disgusting sentimental side again.]

He and Blubber, they really seem to love each other, you know? So I sorta want to keep them in the same place. We get split up all the time here. If we do, it'd just be good to know she and he ended up on the ranch together or someone else's inventory together or whatever.

They can be together. [Even when Boone and Lust can't be. Even when he and Connor are at risk. Pointy and Blubber will always have each other in their ridiculous, nonsensical state.]

[Connor lays his head on Hank's chest, and he can't help smiling because he loves Hank's sentimental side.]

That's a nice thought. I hope they'll be happy together.

[Though Pointy doesn't quite sound his usual cheerful self, what with Boone being gone.]

[That sentimental side that can, unfortunately, drive him to point a gun at Connor and demand he express some uncertainty. But it is indeed a powerful one. If Connor had killed those girls back then? He's pretty sure he would have written him off as a lost cause. Love is a powerful thing. He needs to see more of it. Even between doofus Pokemon.]

I hope so. I don't think he's taking Boone being gone too well.

[He slips his arm around Connor the best he can, just hugging him there so he can keep him laying comfortably against him.]

He doesn't sound like it. Not that I'm that acquainted with Drapion noises. How's your head, by the way?

It still hurts a little. It's nothing I can't handle, though.

[He keeps his eyes closed for now, fiddling with Hank's shirt.]

Pokemon can be pretty demanding, can't they?

[He wonders if it's what having children is like.]

[It's very much what they're like.] Yeah, they can be. [He pulls Connor so that he can tuck his head under his chin and rub his back, beard resting in his brunette hair.]

In some ways it's more demanding than being a cop. I mean, you gotta be kind to a witness while you're talkin' to them, and then you never see 'em again. But with a Pokemon you gotta hold your temper forever. You could make a bad impression.

Hey, adding up the time you were back home and the time you've been here, are you a year old yet? Or do I gotta pull out my Pokegear and work up the math because your brain hurts too much? [Upon saying that, he kisses down into that lightly wavy hair.]

[Connor opens his mouth to answer, but being a human the answer isn't immediately calculated by the time he goes to speak. He huffs a little instead.]

It was... we arrived here in August... a few days before my activation date. My birthday. I was already three months old then. We've been here for... around nine months. So I guess I'm a year old.

[He obviously had other things on his mind besides his own age, and knowing that he's a year old now surprises him.]

Sorry I didn't remember your birthday. I guess I'll have to remember it here. [He rubs the top of his head with his scruff.]

What day is it on? Remind me

[He doesn't even remember if he told him in the first place. He knows Connor knows his. Fuck, come to think of it, that's now kind of an anniversary for them, too.]

This hurting or helping?

August 15th.

[He makes a small noncommittal sound.]

It's not really doing anything.

[It's not hurting, but it's not making it better either.]

Then I'll get you some headache medicine when you're done using me as a pillow.

[He pats the small of Connor's back and looks down at him, pretty comfortable to be a pillow for as long as he's needed.]
