Been to the Ruins of Alph before? Are you an old hat at this stuff? Well turn everything you thought you knew UPSIDE DOWN because EVERYTHING. IS DIFFERENT NOW.

… Or at least, that’s what the flyers being passed out under a canopy of cheap Celebi balloons that are bobbing around in the breeze say.

One thing’s for sure, there sure are a lot more tents than normal. By the time most of you casuals get there, the entire picnicking area, usually quite spacious, has been turned into a small tent city. And the excited atmosphere is palpable.

The crackle of the Ruin Rangers’ walkie-talkies mingles with that of the ghost-hunting equipment toted around by excited Hex Maniacs, burbling Unown are drifting here and there to blink curiously at all the new people and Pokemon suddenly on their turf, and chatter from Legend Seekers of all ages (really, of ALL ages-- everyone from Youngsters to Veterans have apparently been swept up in the Seeker-mania!) rings out as stories and speculations are swapped.

There’s lots to do, plenty to explore, and (according to word on the grapevine), more than enough spooky rituals to perform once the night falls.

Will you solve some tile puzzles and fall into an underground chamber? Stick to the main group and make s’mores? Befriend a floating letter (or twenty-four)? Go directly against the advice of the tired-looking Rangers and play One Man Hide-and-Seek in the dark?

Or, most importantly, will you start a small-scale riot in order to keep the loud static boxes away from the tents where you’re trying to sleep?

Not much! Battlin'! [She grins, looking down at Poko as he comes to a stop at her feet.] We've been winnin'.

Why, yes it is! I never leave home without cooking supplies - you just don't know when they'll come in handy.

[Here, she's got some of those pop-open bowls, she'll shake one open and gesture towards the chili.]

Would you like some? It should be just about done.

Oh? Which puzzle?

Rose blinks at him.

"I'm looking for ghosts!"

Implying that she thinks there's a difference between ghosts and ghost Pokemon. Rose has not read enough in the Pokedex to realize 'ghost' is more than just a type.

She's basing all her knowledge off of Halloween movie marathons she watched with Greg.

[The Klefki floats a little closer, holding out the mini screwdriver attached to its keyring. Plunderbird begins the task of unscrewing the panel.]

Fair. If there were actual ghosts around here, they could just switch the thing back on.

[The final screw is out, and Plunderbird tugs the panel off with a look of pride. He did it! Now never ask him for anything ever again. The Klefki scoops up all the screws and floats away with them. Lord knows what it plans to do with them all.]

Since we went out of business in Egon's dimension, I guess it's likely that your dad and Bassingame never got to meet up?

[Trying to be optimistic...]

But c'mon Pete, we have all day to set up camp! And this place is populated enough now that we don't gotta worry about lighting or something bad happening while setting up camp in the dark.

[Unless... the tent catches fire, he guesses.]

For the most part, yeah. I mean, I'll keep an eye on the ones that're assholes, but most of the others know right from wrong or'll have a more responsible Pokemon around to keep them from being stupid.

[This is reason #653 why Venkman is not capable of raising a child. Somewhere in the ruins, Plunderbird is daring some NPC's poor unsuspecting Pidgey to stare into the antlers of a Stantler.]

[Ray sticks his tongue out at Venkman.]

Well Sig loves me so it's not gonna backfire.

She doesn't love society at large, and they're the ones who're gonna pay for your mistakes.

I wouldn't know. The Peter Venkman in my dimension tried to avoid speaking about his personal problems unless they directly involved us.

[Which is something probably consistent across all dimensional versions of Venkman.]

I will recall him for now. I'm sure we'll find a suitable place to camp after we've scouted out the ruins.

[He spots a bunch of ghost hunters with video cameras walking by, arguing passionately about whether Sasquatch might've become a ghost because of how old the legend is. Egon's gaze follows them, and when they finally leave, he gives a withering look towards Venkman and Ray.]

...On the other hand, perhaps it is best to claim our spot before we're forced to be in proximity to these amateurs. Sasquatch is not one singular being, but rather, a species of cryptids.

Well I'll admit it's not a great sign, but were more focused on solving the mysteries on the ruins proper, rather than ghosts. It's entirely possible that we entirely missed them; especially if they didn't want to be seen.

Plus the additional energy might be able to draw in spirits!

Yeah they did seem pretty cool before now. Hopefully this wasn't just a ruse to give them our money.

[Ray sighs.]

Tell me about it. Demons can be reasoned with sometimes but when they're set on something they're the worst.

[ghoststanning]

Sure thing! It feels like forever since I've had a real home cooked meal!

[The Ghostbusters live on take out and frozen food and it's so sad.]

... Ok then I can have Grandpa set you on fire every time you bring it up, how about that?

Carly can't help but agree with Fire Guy. "We...probably have enough fire types here, right..?" she drowsily answers, her Salandit peering out with a chirp. "...they probably can't blame everyone..."

That's a very poor 'probably', but desperate times!

[Venkman feels vaguely called out by that, Egon.]

Now you know what I've been having to listen to all day. This is what happens when everyone in the room believes wholeheartedly in the paranormal without any limits- without skepticism, this all just turns into this jumbled mess of an echo chamber.

... I set up some of my stuff already. Not anything fancy, you know I'm not into the camping shit, but it's close enough to the firepit that we can watch everyone make fools of themselves without them hearing us complain the whole time.

"Hoooooo...ho-okay, that's one for everyone..." Carly has...Somehow found a multi-pronged branch to use for roasting. Somehow. She's doing her best on that.

As it is, she and her many companions jump only slightly when it turns out they're being addressed. "Eh- ....EH!? Ghosts!? I thought that was supposed to be a pokemon type, not a real spooks thing..!"

You do that, and I'm taking custody of Joker.

[Ray looks horrified.]

You wouldn't! He would be traumatized if you even thought about taking my baby away.

Our baby. 'Cept he's mine now. 'Cause you threatened to sicc that dragon on me. Goodbye forever.
