[He's not in his bar, he's in his rented room/lab space, where he has armor for five body types half-assembled and maps pinned on the wall and even a type chart bulletin board complete with deranged yarn patterns.]
[He makes a frantic motion at the camera when he turns it on.]
Alright! So, here's my plan.
Each month there'd be a 'disadvantage' type. The main combatants that gotta face all the challenges, right? Now, do people prefer races? Obstacle courses? Last man standing? Collect and conquer...
[His strangely blue-gray eyes go wide as he's thinking about that.]
Hunter-Prey. Just got it. Strong type advantage has to chase down three or four disadvantage types. Ninety percent stealth oriented.
[He shakes a finger.]
Alright, alright, alright. I can make that work.

Nice chart.
Got your games idea in planning stages now?
Re: text
[He wonders about the text, deciding to switch to that as well.]
You alright, sister? Seems you've been away for a bit. Actually making me worried, and that takes some work. I don't spend that kind of energy on just anybody.

[ The most recent losses are bittersweet; Jean going to a world that's cruel, yes, but Bertolt? He goes back to death. Unless he shows up again a week from now... and she's a pessimist. She's not going to allow that hope to live.
It's a painful one. ]
Unfair competition sounds like the world most of us live in without the silver spoon in mouth treatment. Still, I'm interested. How'd you say this would run?
no subject
But I'll cover you a drink if you ever need to talk.
Well, the racing game is one where lower leveled opponents of a type disadvantage race for a finish. They each have a higher level partner of a type advantage that'll either protect them or hinder their opponents. Let's say a grass type would have a fire type for cover, you dig? Obstacle course or gauntlet is pretty self-explanatory. Grass type would face challenges against environments that held it back. Last-man-standing would be just making a map, laying out some recovery stashes for combatants to find, have them fight until one is still up. In hunter-prey, three or four grass types would be solving puzzles to get out of a maze while a fire-type hunted 'em down to tag them.
All that make sense?

Ah, stated like that, I think I get most of how they work. We're talking about trainers being with them in most scenarios? Or all from sidelines?
no subject
Trainers would definitely be calling the shots but I can't decide if they should ride or if they should do it by radio. I mean, making radios that stand up to the elements ain't too hard. I can do that with one hand tied behind my back. But there's something real personal about gettin' in there yourself.

Yet he's been more alive than she ever really has. ]
Might be worth it in Last Man Standing and Hunter Prey. Races can be with pokemon who aren't suitable for being ridden, leaves more room for creativity one would think. Or part of the challenge is hauling along their trainer at the same time, while the trainer tries to also direct their defender.

Hey, you know where I can find out more info about this place's digitization tech? See, I got the armor worked out-
[He pulls the pokegear over to show one of the armors that would fit a dog-type.] I got these funnelin' tubes laid into it to better dispense potion protection, nice thick damage resistant mesh in there, too, for them hard knocks. But as you can see, I'm sorta set on size. I got models for each body type but it varies so much I need a way to resize it on a template basis.
no subject
Oh it's...it's not good. The tech, I mean. I see what you're going for, though, lemme think on it a bit. Might have some suggestions for ya.
no subject
You been lookin' into it? 'Cause the smoothest way to work out some class armor adjustments has always been digital in my experience.
[But he doesn't have his ghost here, and his ghost has all his Dark Age armor reconstruction specs.]
no subject
Little bit, yeah! I'm a computer guy, I use digi-tech a ton back home. But it's not the same here, it's a whole different tech system, I don't really have the best access to the equipment to get in and ha...
Figure out how it works.
[Totally not hack it, that's absolutely not what he was about to say on the public network.]
no subject
Yeah? I got some ideas. How about we meet up on it. I'll let you in on a hunk of the cut if we can figure this mess out.
[Hey, he's making it for an honest business! Surely that should be acceptable, right? Right? Gambling aside...]

video;
Either way it sounds pretty sweet.

Either way, I want to make the option to administer a potion at the click of a button.
no subject
Is the potion button for the trainer or the pokemon?

Idea with the armor set up is this.
[He shows her a piece of it, and then pulls up Orin by the scruff of her neck. He puts the armor on her as she stares fixedly on the camera.]
Hold still- come on... yeah, there. Good.
[He grabs up a potion.] So this has slots for four potions. A, B, C, and D. What this does is it distributes a potion based on the number you pick. So you can load them up with some resistance or healing or whatever. And you don't even have to take your hands off the wheel or slow down. That is, unless you need to reload.
That requires a full pit stop.

Aww, man, that looks super sweet! And it sounds like a really good way to mix up the Pokemon fights.
I say as if I've already gotten bored of the regular fights, which I haven't.
no subject
Also I been in too many sticky situations where it would have helped to better be prepared.
[He's also had to turn on people he was fighting beside for their very lives just days before.]
People don't understand that sometimes evasion is the best battle tactic you got access to.
[Orin is just... yeah, staring, as she gets the armor all strapped up to her while he's talking. He fits in an Antidote into Slot A, before putting her down.] Now go bug Fortune! [Yes kitty, go pick a fight with his poisonous snake. She seems ready to oblige.]

The more real the competition, the more people get into it as I see it.
[He loves the whole game thing. Same reason he used to love working at a bar (and still does now). You get to see the very worst in the very best people and how good they end up being at it. Amazing what a little alcohol or a rough fight can do.]

Just gotta figure out how that collect and conquer system would work with Pokemon as compared to my last set up.

The disadvantage makes the fight a little rougher. Stakes a little higher.
"Burns" were sorta a thing back home, where certain weapon types and abilities on Lightbearers were stronger on certain days. Made it interesting, 'cause it was stronger on the enemies too.
