AETHER VS. ULTRA

Who: The Aether Foundation, the Ultra Beasts, and YOU!
Where: Aether Headquarters on the Sevii Islands.
When: October 30th-31st, immediately after the Emergency News Bulletin
Summary: Showdown at the Aether HQ! The Ultra Beasts have found what they were looking for...
Rating: PG for action violence.
Log:

If there's one thing that can be said about several weeks straight of chaos, it's made the general response-time of rescue teams and emergency services across Johto and Kanto alike extremely quick. Within moments of the urgent news bulletin regarding the Aether HQ going live, relief efforts start taking off from every feasible point. With volunteers eager to watch the Aether Foundation go down in flames help any way they can hopping on board with the rescue forces, aid is coming, and fast.

... But not as fast as them.

At the exact moment of the broadcast, almost as though heralded by some unknown frequency, every Ultra Beast in land, sea, or sky drops whatever they're doing and turns their heads (or... headlike appendages, in most cases) to the south. And then they'll take off, pausing ONLY if they happen to have befriended a human or two over the weeks. These ones will gesture-- beckoning, dancing, even dabbing (because you KNOW at least one person taught one to dab)-- anything at all that they may have picked up throughout the month in order to communicate with the "aliens" they've met in this world.

Wherever they're headed, they want their strange allies to come with them.

And, if their invitation is accepted, they will sweep a trainer or two right off their feet and shoot off for the Sevii Islands.

_______

The temporary Aether Foundation HQ, a rather advanced building considering it went up in a matter of weeks after they first arrived that year-and-a-half-or-so ago, sits on the water's edge with its floating Pokemon sanctuary (which many consider to be the Foundation's crown jewel) neatly attached.

It's normally a pretty peaceful place, with volunteers coming and going as they please. While no small amount of property damage and general chaos has gone down on the mainland over the course of October, at no point had the marauding Beasts launched a concentrated, or indeed deliberate-seeming, attack against any one location at all.

This is clearly no longer the case.

An explosion sends billowing smoke (and a fancy white golf-cart) high into the air above the palm trees surrounding the building. Local islanders and wild Pokemon spill onto the beach to escape what has seemingly become an all-out warzone between Aether agents and Ultra Beasts of all shapes and sizes...

But while there is definitely fighting going on, taking a closer look will tell anyone that the Beasts are focused mainly on the building... and not just destroying it, either. The battering they're delivering seems to be with the intent to find a way inside, only stopping to attack humans and Pokemon who try to get in the way.

But why?

What's in there?

Whatever it is... those Aether agents who haven't already fled aren't keen to let anyone, human or Ultra Beast, too close!

random number generator said to beat up Faba

Armin will be squaring off against Faba because he's terrible he just happens to be the first guy he ran into. He draws rather a large target on himself with those stupid goggles and horrible attitude.

Armin will start the fight off with his Dhelmise Octavius. Things are getting really serious here, so best to start off strong with a real powerhouse. And the one pokemon who is always spoiling for a fight. With Claydoll's weakness to grass and ghost type moves (both type which Octavius just happens to be) Armin will be focussing on using his heavy-hitting grass and ghost attacks like Phantom Force and Power Whip. If Octavius' HP starts dropping, he'll throw in a few Giga drains to get it back up again.

Once Claydol goes down, Armin will withdraw Octavius and send out Nemesis instead. She is immune to psychic attacks and resists both water and dark type moves, which accounts for nearly all of Bruxish' move pool. Armin will be focussing on using Nemesis' dark type moves, as that is where Bruxish' weakness lies. Between that weakness and the fact that few of Bruxish' attacks will do much damage to Nemesis, this battle should be fairly straightforward.

After Bruxish goes down, Armin will switch Nemesis for Octavius again to take advantage of his resistance to electric attacks and Raichu's weakness to ghost moves. Alolan Raichu also has a few normal type moves, which Octavius is completely immune to on account of being a ghost. And like before, the strategy for this battle is focussing on Octavius' heavy-hitting ghost type moves. Phantom Force and Shadow ball will feature liberally in this battle, and hey, Armin might even throw in a Heavy Slam or two. With the weight difference between Raichu and Dhelmise (46lbs vs 463lbs) that too should do quite a bit of damage.

Once Alolan Raichu goes down, Armin will yet again switch Octavius for Nemesis, but this time that is not all he'll do. Bruxish got to deal with a regular old Sharpedo, but Alakazam will be dealing with Mega Sharpedo! Again, like before, Nemesis is immune to psychic attacks (which is like... almost all of Alakazam's moves) so she shouldn't have to worry much about getting damaged in this match, instead fully being able to focus on chomping and biting the bits out of Alakazam. And with Mega Sharpedo's ability 'Strong Jaw', all Nemesis' biting moves will be 50% stronger.

Armin will leave Nemesis in the field to deal with Hypno as well, though at this point he'll be keeping a close eye on her health. If it is getting low, he'll dig into his stash of healing items to up it. The strategy for this match will be the same as before, focussing on Nemesis' dark type moves. Should taking down three opponents prove too much for her, Armin will switch her out for his Incineroar Magellan. Incineroar is also a dark type, leaving him with the same immunity to psychic attacks. And naturally, Armin will be focussing on Magellan's dark type moves as well until Hypno goes down.

For Faba's sixth and final pokemon, Armin will bring out Gus the Shiinotic. After all, what better thing to counter a dragon with than a fairy? To start, Armin will have Gus use ingrain to root himself to the spot (and regain some HP every move) before aiming some Moonblasts at Flygon. Should Gus' HP get low, he'll replenish it with either Moonlight or Giga Drain, before switching back to his fairy type moves.
