4th Prayer [Text, Olivine City]

There has been a most intriguing invitation delivered to me today.
It talks of something called a "prom", and from what I can glean of the contents, it is a ball of some kind?
I have only been to a ball once before in my whole life...

Truly, I wish I were more excited, but my traveling companion has...gone home, as I understand it.
I miss him, and I sorely wish he were here to also attend a ball.
They are the most wonderful, magical of experiences. Every person should get to go to one at some point.
Are these a usual occurence?

 I am very sorry to hear about your friend. I... understand how impossibly difficult it is to lose someone here. But if I can offer you something to consider -- I've seen a great many faces return to this place as well. I will hope that this happens to you and your friend. 

That being said, I can imagine you'd rather not linger on this?  So, um... These events occur once every year. They're usually quite fun, if... plagued with trouble.

Do you truly think it is possible for him to return?
Perhaps in time for this ball?
I would not want him to miss it...

But, if they do happen every year, then that is lovely!
This is an auspicious time of year, after all! As they say, spring has truly sprung! It makes sense to hold a ball during such a lovely time.
Though, does it not interfere with the beginning of the planting season?

Well. I will not give you false hope that he might return before the prom, given its close proximity but. This is a place of miracles, I have seen stranger things happen. 

I don't know that planting season is such an important thing here. It's all relatively automated now? Or... was in my time, though I suppose that's a little further ahead of all of this. 

I am glad you can handle it but... I really hope it's on the uneventful side. From what I understand, there was quite the um... kerfuffle, early this year.

Automated? How could such a thing be...surely if one were to use machines to plant the crops, they would have to be immense and cumbersome.

Things certainly were...eventful, to say the least.

Well. They are big. Certainly not something I could manage to work. But they're not so unwieldy that your average farmer with working knowledge can't operate on their own.
... I think. Truthfully I don't know all that much about agriculture.

I can only assume that you were also here for that unpleasantness as well? I hope you came out unscathed.

I was! And I managed to make it through much like everyone else.
For that I am quite grateful.

I know a bit about planting and growing plants, but not about anything so grandiose as large planting machines...

My friends were involved too. Perhaps you ran into them? There was a blue haired woman with tattoos and -- [Ah, how best to describe Krieg.]

 A very tall, presumably half-naked man yelling about meat?

Have you done any gardening since your arrival here? Or -- Have you met any of the flower pokemon? I used to have a little creature that floated on her own little flower -- A Flabebe, I believe it was called?

I think I vaguely recall such a man, but I am not sure if we had the pleasure of being introduced while in the midst of such mayhem.

Sadly, I have not stayed in one place long enough to begin a gardening project, but I might do so once I have settled. And while none of them sport a flower, I do have two Pokemon of the Grass type in my company that are absolutely darling.

That... may be for the best, all the same. He can come off as quite frightening, especially in the midst of mayhem.

Well, if you do ever find yourself in need of a place to go, there is cabin off the Sevii Islands that I spend much time at. I imagine the land is quite fertile, should you feel the need to garden.

[Should she be inviting people to visit a place that isn't hers? Maybe not. But there's so many people that frequent the cabin, what was one more?]

Do you mind if I ask the names of your friends? The pokemon, I mean.

On the contrary, I was struck by how frank he seemed in his endeavors! If I were afraid of something like that, I would have learned nothing from my life.

The Sevii Islands...I shall have to make the time to visit, then!
For now I have been considering setting roots down in Olivine City, but I would not be opposed to a bit of travel.

I do not mind! Their names are Macha and Macuil.

Oh, I'm so relieved to hear that. I worry sometimes that he puts people off. It... can't be blamed, of course. He's a very... loud person, but his heart means well. It always makes me happy when people give him a chance. 

But yes, please come visit. If nothing else, there is a ferry to the islands out of Olivine. It's the perfect weekend getaway. And the sea air on the ship is pleasant.

Macha and Macuil... Those are such lovely names! What breed of Pokemon are they?

You might be surprised to know that I have met a variety of loud people in my lifetime.

I do quite love a good sea breeze...I shall consider it!

Macha is what is called a Chikorita, while Macuil is an...Applin? Yes, I believe that is the name.

Well, then I suppose there's nothing to worry about if that's the case. I'm sorry for fretting so much. 

I am familiar with Chikorita -- an old friend of mine once had one. It traveled around our group quite a bit as we came and went. I'm... not sure where he wound up. 
As for Applin, I can't say I recognize the name of that creature. But there have been quite a few new arrivals while I was away, so I suppose that isn't so surprising.

Oh, my...do you mean to say that dear, sweet Mac is a creature completely new to this world, just as we are?

Well. Perhaps!
I don't know if he is new to this world so much as new to this area. But he is still in new surroundings, so I suppose the comparison is still valid.

I see...hopefully, he has not been left too out of sorts.
I wish I could ask him directly.

It might not be so impossible. An old friend of mine was very talented when it came to magic, at least back home. He once talked about being able to... perhaps not hear, but at least feel some of what his Meowstic was trying to convey. 

If nothing else, it's nice to think that there may yet be a way to commune with our dear creatures.

I do not know if I want to directly speak to my own.

 Yes! His name was Warden Commander Floppington. A very sweet creature. 

Am... I correct in assuming that you have a Meowstic of your own, then?

I do. She...reminds me of a former classmate of mine. I have not hidden that from her.
This classmate and I...did not part on amicable terms.

I can imagine the relationship is difficult then. 
But... Perhaps this is your chance to rectify whatever rift had developed between the two of you? A way of coming to understand your differences, or something like that?

That would be ideal, but...I am not sure how well that would work.
After all, none of what happened in my home was Edel's fault. I would not want her to take on that burden in any metaphorical sense.

Perhaps not. But Pokemon are incredibly intelligent creatures. 

Given the chance, I think you might be able to at least convey why you're uneasy. It might not correct the relationship with your former friend but... at least you could create a better relationship with you and your Pokemon? You might see a side of Edel that's completely different from her namesake!

It's like a giant party I think. I've been to two and I think they're at different places every year.

If it were not for him, I doubtless would have taken much longer to become accustomed to so much of the technology here, among other things.
He taught me so many different ways one could enjoy a potato, for instance!

They have so many different types of food here. It's amazing.

I just wish he could have gotten to go to this ball...prom...party thing.

Do you think other worlds hold such parties as well, so that...it might be the case they do not miss out entirely?

I think you're right. Some people come from nice worlds. I bet they have parties where everything is safe too. I hope they do.

So do I. It is a nice thought.

[Someplace where parties could happen more often, and be grand and wondrous...Flayn likes the idea of such a place.]

And sometimes we get to see them again during the weird weekends. Even just a little bit is nice.

I do recall...a weekend in which things felt strange, and WERE strange. I think I had my magical abilities back at that time, but my memories are hazy.

Yeah they're weird and fuzzy. I got to see my mom in two of them and she didn't even remember being here when she was here the second time. I write down everything after it's over to try and remember as much as I can.

[She's still missing stuff of course.]

That is a fastidious and prudent method for remembering. Much like taking notes!
I wish I had thought to do so myself...in case I missed something.

I was thinking I might try writing it down during the weekend to see if I can keep notes like that right after it happens but before I forget. I'm not sure if something will happen to the notes though.

That is, unfortunately, always a possibility. They could become waterlogged or torn or lost...
But the effort taken should not be considered squandered!

I thought whatever makes our memories go away after the weekend might change some of it. But that's true too.

Well...I cannot say whether it could happen or not.
But I shall try to remember to take notes for the next time, and report any changes!
