Video;

[It's ya boy Armin. And he is looking pretty serious. He's also holding a very familiar prom invite envelope.]

I know by now most, if not all, of you must have gotten one of these. And I won't tell you not to go. I don't think that is my place.

[Also, probably kind of hypocritical seeing as Armin is definitely planning on going.]

But I think it is only fair to let everybody -- especially people who haven't been here very long -- know that the last few years, these parties have had a bad habit of attracting... trouble. It is possible I'm being overly cautious and that this year's might be completely fine [but he doubts it] but it might be a good idea to bring your strongest pokemon. And some healing items.

The first one or two were purely pleasant events, if I remember correctly. But after that...

['After that' was a nightmare. Literally, at least once.]

The biggest question is: will the disturbance be caused by humans or by Pokémon, this time? Or both, sometimes it's both.

And one of the even fewer people who remember the prom-less years. Those first springs were certainly less... lively, though they involved plenty of egg-related activities.

[Which, as someone who now deals with hundreds of eggs at once yearly, he'd find worse that rampaging Legendaries.]

If we must include all possibilities, 'disturbances caused by creatures from other dimensions' could simply involve someone among us deciding to start a fistfight. Which would almost be a relief, if nothing else happened.

It's not only the events that deserve to be recorded. If only we could have a full record of everyone who has ever found their way to this world... There's plenty I remember, but far more I forgot or simply never knew.

[He'd tried keeping lists and notes, at first, but there was so much happening and he only has two eyes to see it all.]

I've generally found Baron's royal chroniclers to be dry, busy people, but their services would be greatly useful in this situation. Even if their prose would make any prom sound dull and uninteresting.

Heather and Riku were here before me. Envy, Ryner and Sion arrived relatively soon after, as far as I remember. Beyond that...

[Beyond that, he cannot think of anyone. That's a sobering thought.]

Oh, history books can be very interesting, if they have a soul. But the Baronian chronicling style is to simply note down events, without offering an analysis or trying to give them life with 'frivolous' details. Were they here, they'd be able to tell you that a days-long dancing event was organized by Clair at the beginning of April, eight years ago... but not that a Tentacruel was let loose in the pool during the festivities and decided to juggle his own trainer.

It is a rather soulless view of history. But ideally, with such a complete factual record and the addition of personal recollections from those among us who were present at the time... The final result would be, perhaps, the 'complete' history of our presence in this world, if such a thing can exist.

[And if it could be written while it was still ongoing.]

I do hope they'd take care to archive it somewhere accessible, yet that has not been pillaged in the last decade.

[Cecil has long stopped trusting the security at the Elite Four mansion.]

We might also want to ask Pokémon for their point of view. Plenty might have been inherited from long gone trainers, with memories from those years. And it's likely that certain Legendaries such as Arceus would know even more, as they watch over us to some degree.
