video, about a week after prom

[Usually when Steven does a video post or message on the pokegear--getting more and more common as the weeks go on as he gets used to his old (if definitely older-looking) face again--the background is a finished basement, which slowly but surely becoming filled with more and more ghosts.

Not this time. This time Steven's in what looks like some kind of... well. Drinking establishment. One that's in the process of being refurbished. He gives the camera a friendly smile.

As usual with him, the video is captioned.]

Hi. I'm Steven Durante, which I suppose some of you might already know. I'm here to talk about... well. Employment opportunities for people. My friend Tyler Huang and I are going into business in Goldenrod in the upcoming months with a combination drinking establishment and underground fighting establishment. [Brief pause.] Literally underground, that is. It'll be taking place in the basement. Hand-to-hand, of course, since that's really the only option here.

Tyler and I already have financial backing sorted out. We're now looking for other people to work here. We need bouncers and bartenders primarily. It's steady work with regular hours and a competitive wage, which we intend to keep pace with cost of living increases. And, of course, there will be an employee discount. Besides that, we're all otherworld transfers, so we understand when... incidents happen.

[Another brief pause.]

Also, Lydia wants me to tell people that she's also hiring for a business venture of her own in Ecruteak. Since she's opening up a nightclub, she'll need much the same when it comes to having bartenders and bouncers, but she's also looking for professional or skilled amateur dancers willing to turn professional in order to provide the entertainment.

All of us are advertising in the normal public jobseeking channels, of course, but we wanted to make sure that our fellow otherworld transfers are specifically informed. And also, I suppose, to create some anticipation when it comes to the fighting establishment aspect.

Anyway. If you're interested, please leave a message here; we're all keeping tabs on this one. Otherwise, please direct message me, Lydia, or Tyler. Text is preferable for Tyler. Lydia and I are fine with whichever format.

Never hurts to look to the future.

[He cracks a small smile at that.]

But, hm... Come to think of it, maybe you guys oughta have some Heal Pulse Pokemon on standby. Having a few ice types probably wouldn't hurt either, and it'd save on costs.

TYPOS ARE A PAIN. I sympathize

Oh, and another thing- you got anything that can learn Ice Beam or Blizzard? Pretty sure you could just grab those TMs and fudge it.

[Definitely more options there. Water types, dragon types... Normal types? Though it always weirded him out how Furrets and Jigglypuffs can shoot beams of concentrated element.]

[...Hold on. Riku snickers.]

Fail Whale? Man, that's a name. Then again, I'm the idiot who named my starter Pokemon Slacker.

[God, he regrets that, but now he won't answer to anything else.]

But rule of thumb: generally all water types can learn ice moves. They're better defensively, too, so there's an added perk for you.

Ha. Could be worse. Shoulda seen Jaws when he was a Totodile- couldn't go a day without him trying to chomp down on my skull.

[And may or may not have succeeded a few times, even. Which isn't exactly fun when said Totodile had tons of very pointy teeth.]

Honestly, I'd say TMs are generally a worthwhile investment, but there's other workarounds if you're feeling adventurous. Roaming move tutors, anyway.

[Though tracking them down can be a pain. Especially for those who aren't in a constant state of wanderlust like Riku is.]

sorry about the delay- work has REALLY ramped up >.o

To be fair, so do most trainers. Honestly, I dunno how you guys can stand it.

[He chuckles and shakes his head.]

Me? I get way too restless. It's hard for me to really settle down for too long. And that's coming from a guy who has a "home base" in Celadon.

Heh. Fair enough, honestly. I know plenty of people get dragged outta some pretty rough spots in their lives. Wars, bad homes, sometimes a combo of both...

[It's... funny. Because when all things are considered, Riku came from perhaps the easiest time in his life. Before it all fell apart.

Knowing his own future's still wild after all thsi time.]

I'd probably be right there with you if I actually lived through half of what my friends told me.

Yeah. When they were here, anyway- it's been a while.

[He heaves a small sigh.]

It's... been interesting. Sometimes they'd end up close to me, but just a little bit in the future. Other times, they'd be a year ahead. Some people were even from my past.
