I can't believe this shit...

[Jean has the camera fairly steady on a scene that is honestly pretty cute-- There are a few Kanto Ponyta and Blitzle that are obviously close to being fresh out of the egg, galumphing around and being generally adorable. There's nothing wrong with that of course. But after a minute or so of watching them play, Jean pans over to a Zebstrika and a Kanto Rapidash who are both surreptitiously avoiding one another and looking very, very ashamed of themselves at the same time.]

You two hate each other! I can barely have you both out at the same time without you being at each other's throats and then you do this? Getting sweet on each other when I'm not looking?

Okay, like... [Jean sighs out of resignation and exasperation.] The babies are fine. They're cute, they'll find homes, but you two need to straighten things out here. I can't have you hate-flirting with each other when we've got shit to do. The rivalry was bad enough!

[The Zebstrika sulkily plods over to Jean and shoves her face into his shoulder, and he can't help but pet her on the nose.]

Yeah yeah, it's okay. It's not like I'm mad at you, you just gotta get your love life in line, okay? We're a team, we can't have weird love-hate relationships getting in the way when we're trying to do our best in battle.

[The next line he whispers, barely audible through the video.]

Trust me, I know all about that first hand. Sometimes you've just gotta put up with feelings so the team can work right.

[Domino knickers, and Jean pans back to the babies.]

Anyone want one of these? I can guarantee they're got a fighting pedigree, they're kids of two of my best. They'll do you proud if you're on the gym challenge.

You may be surprised. Heated rivalry is sometimes nothing more than a cover for feelings some would rather deny. Attraction sometimes hits us all from the most unexpected places. Seems to me pokemon would be no different.

They both resemble and don't resemble equine she's encountered back home, and it sounds like he's giving them away. Ziva's not one to turn her nose up at "free" anything.

I've only had experience with the pure hate kind, and now I'm glad. The thought of-- [Getting dirty with him? The face Jean makes is priceless, half between nausea and the bitterness of biting into an aspirin.] I can't even finish that sentence.

You want one? No, I'm not asking for anything more than that. We're in the middle of our Gym tour, and this throws a wrench in things until they're adopted out.

Not many people get that kind of rivalry. But it's been years since we met and I can't say I feel any different about the guy. It's hate on the fundamental level, I guess.

Sure, take your pick. [Jean makes a snk snk snk noise while rubbing his fingers together, and a couple of the babies approach him out of curiosity.] When mine aren't having spats with each other, they're reliable Pokemon. The Rapidash likes to be ridden and doesn't mind wearing a bridle and bit.

[This guy has two Scorbunny and three Bunnelby hanging off of him, and it's obvious that one of the Scorbunnies and two of the Bunnelbies are fresh out of the eggs themselves.]

Believe me, I completely understand how certain happenings might be a bit of a surprise.

We've got fire quite well covered.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of those Scorbunny around since we brought down the Foundation last year. They kick fire balls around when they're done evolving.

Blitzle was my starter, Domino over there. They're good, I'll think you'd like one.

I can't say that's too surprising; mine like to kick around small round pebbles. And other Pokemon, if there's a battle on.

We look forward to meeting one! They do seem to enjoy making new friends.

You'd think with all the battling they do, Pokemon wouldn't like each other all that much, but as soon as they're part of a team, they get along. Well. Most of the time.

The rest of my group all have their quirks, but hey, humans aren't any different.

So far, all of mine have gotten along, and I hope that remains the case as soon as I introduce a Pokemon that isn't some sort of rabbit to the group.

We're all still getting to know each other--I daresay we're getting used to each other's quirks.

[The largest Scorbunny makes a noise of agreement--Sento is weird, and that Scorbunny knows it.]

Sometimes it can be a pain, but honestly... I think it's pretty fun to get to know these guys, figure out how they battle and put strategies together. Getting used to each other is an important part of the process.

Any reason why you've got a pack of rabbits and nothing else?

We've been having a fine time of it so far, just with a few little surprises thrown in there to keep things interesting.

I started out with one rabbit--

--and I woke up one morning to find that it's true what they say; rabbits are quite good at multiplying.

That's it? And right after you caught them? They sure didn't waste any time.

They waited all of two days, I believe. And to think I was initially worried they wouldn't get along.

If mine are any example, they can hate each other's guts and still make eggs. Although, I didn't know they could do that while they're still little. Are you keeping them unevolved for a reason, or have you not gotten around to training yet?

I've only been here a couple of weeks at most; there's been no time to train anyone.

Oh, right. I keep forgetting new faces cycle in here and there. Are you a trainer or a breeder?

Everything would seem to indicate that I'm a breeder; I suppose I should be glad my Pokemon are so onboard with the idea.

I suppose that's preferable to the alternative, though this was rather...sudden.

It's kinda hard to get used to at first. Are you from a place with tech like this, or not? My world isn't anywhere near this kind of scientific advancement.

Ahhh, this must be quite the adjustment for you! My world's fairly technologically advanced, I suppose--I'm a physicist, and I'm familiar with all the science that goes into making many of these things work.
