And you're SURE it isn't dangerous?
[ Another new arrival, albeit one who's jumping on this whole Pokegear thing a little late. She's still tapping away at the device, giving it a few uncertain pokes as though she's afraid it might sprout fangs. From the Noibat perched on her shoulder comes a sound a lot like laughter, or maybe reassurance? She's... actually holding a conversation with her Pokemon as if said Noibat could speak actual words. And yet this is easily probably the most normal thing you'll ever see Rapunzel doing, especially given where they are.
But hey, you know what? Forget all of that! Have an uncertain greeting!!! ]
Uhhh... hello? Is there someone in here...? If there is, and you're thinking about attacking- [ Hang on a second, she needs to think of a good threat. A glance at her Noibat- who shrugs -and then back again with a determined expression. ] -you should know I'm armed! With a really heavy satchel! ... And I'm not afraid to use it! So-
[ ...Apologies for her existe- I mean Please help a newbie out. ]
-so don't even think about trying to get the drop on me. But, if you're NOT the creepy kind of person that likes collecting hair, maybe someone could explain exactly what I'm supposed to do with this magic box...? [ Annnnnd confidence gone, replaced instead by a hopeful half grimace, half hopeful expression. Feel free to respond at risk of your own patience. ]
[ The Noibat hanging upside down from the tree branch probably doesn't seem that weird. Bats do that, right?
Honestly, what your character is about to see probably isn't even the weirdest thing they've ever seen either, which is probably good, because there's going to be a LOT of weird if they decide to stick it out with this girl just learning about the world outside of her tower. The novelties of the modern world are going to absolutely blow her mind, but for now Rapunzel is just enjoying the little things, like being outdoors, breathing fresh air, looking up and seeing the sky wide open overhead instead of through a tiny window- touching grass.
Or, you know, climbing trees.
Figuring it out is an interesting experience in and of itself, but once she's up there she's feeling pretty confident. Anyone wandering down along the route between New Bark Town and Cherrygrove City should probably watch out, though, as at any moment she might just drop down from the branches overhead, hanging upside down by her hair and- ]
See, Gwendolyn? I told you I could do it! It's just too bad there aren't any trees big enough to swing... from...
[ That beaming smile shifts quickly to surprise upon spotting the other party, and now you've got yourself a stare off with a bright eyed blonde, hanging from a tree branch- by what? Wait, is all that stuff holding her up... her OWN HAIR?! ]

Voice
[She said with a giggle]
But anyway, you're suppose to talk to the magic box! That's how we talk to a whole bunch of people through it!
Voice
She opts not to explain her mother's warnings about people "outside" being creepy hair hoarders. ]
I didn't know magic like this existed! It isn't, you know, uncomfortable crowded in there with a ton of other people?
Voice Sorry about the late!
Psh, what? Of course it isn't, we're not all trapped in that this weird thingamajing! It's kind of like a cellphone where you talk to a bunch of other people and maybe make a whole lot of silly faces at each other!
[Because clearly, Rapunzel knew what a cellphone was]
You use it to talk to people. I know it may seem strange, maybe a bit suspicious at first... but the device is completely harmless! I promise.
And, as far as I'm aware of, there aren't any sort of strange people like that here. Er, but... why would someone want to collect hair?
Still no idea what a cell phone is though. ]
You promise?
[ Those words strike a chord with her, the right chord, thankfully. Even though she doesn't know this person on the other side she believes that a promise is something you don't make lightly, so... Have a smile, Elsa, even if unsure, then flat out jumpy when hair comes up again. Oh right- that's at hing she brought up isn't it? ]
No reason!!! Just- just never mind that. So! Does that mean you're from here or did you wake up in a strange house, too?
[Elsa offers a smile in return, one she's hoping is warm and comforting, because man she can absolutely understand how this girl must be feeling right now. She was a mess when she first arrived, until she met up with Anna.]
I'm not a local, no. My home is very far away. [A pause, as if she hesitates to drop this info bomb on the poor girl right away.] In another realm, even.
Video
[cause clearly, out of everything said and shown here, THAT'S the important bit.]
Aren't they super super SUPER cute?
no subject
[ Rapunzel glances at the Pokemon on her shoulder and gives her an affectionate scritch under the chin. ]
Uhh...? Well...? Yeah, actually, I guess she's pretty adorable. She gave me a pretty good scare when I first woke up, though.

magic isn't real
who collects hair?
make sure the satchel strap is leather and seams are tight. one piece construction is better
Video; Because what is texting even yet
[ YES, GOOD. EXCELLENT COVER. She looks entirely too pleased for her own good with this development. ]
No one! No one at all collects hair. EVER. It's incredibly boring and not at all magical. And, ah.... I guess it's pretty sturdy...? It has a lot of stuff in it and it doesn't seem like it's going to tear.
[ She's looking off screen at something- the "satchel" in question, no doubt. ]
I've never seen cloth or leather like this before, though.

you talk too much to believe
[ There's a pause, while he looks at the pack he too has. ]
you new?
Video
Video
... Wait... so does that mean you didn't before?
[
What if you lose it again? Should she be wary of you trying to cut hers off to replace it?On the plus side he doesn't seem to care if her hair had special properties or not, so it's probably fine, right? Yeah. This is fine. ]Re: Video
[Video]
[Sadly, Armin can't help her with the magic box, being as unfamiliar (and as a result clumsy) with it as she is, but dang if hair collectors don't make him curious. Is that really such a concern? He can't imagine that.
Might have something to do with his really bad haircut.
and the lack of cool magic hair.][Video]
[ We don't want to go giving people IDEAS. Also HEY ANOTHER BLOND(E)! ]
So... Hi? I guess? I'm Rapunzel.
[ Please ignore my weird outburst sob ]
I'm Armin. It's nice to meet you. You are a new arrival too, aren't you?
[Just saying.]
That said, the Pokégear is good for communication, it includes a map and information about every Pokémon, it has games... It's an all-purpose tool for your journey.
[ Oh hold the phone she just got a proper look at you. The beard and the wild hair are enough to make her think twice, and her eyes narrow a bit suspiciously. ]
I think I'll keep that advice in mind, though. You know, just in case any creepy hair collectors ARE lurking around...
[ Sorry, you'll have to bear with her as she jars the camera with a few more skeptical pokes. ]
A map? And games? How could it have games? I didn't see anything that looked like chess or checker pieces. It doesn't even have a dart board.
[Hey now, he's a perfectly respectable space pirate who only stole a human once. And it was a whole human, not just the hair, so she's obviously completely safe from his pirate-y ways.]
...You're from a world without computers, then. The games in it don't involve physical pieces. You just need to press the buttons, and the graphical elements on the screen move, depending on the sort of game you're playing.
action;
A few hours later, it seemed like she was. Rather than a bat, a little ghostly-ball Gastly floats around his head, cackling at pretty much everything in a constantly good mood. It's a sharp contrast to the line-faced boy - even if suddenly having a blonde swinging down from a tree in front of him startles him enough to back up a couple of steps, an arm raising to defend himself. ]
...!!
[ Oh. Not a new, weird monster. Just a girl. The weird one who'd been talking about hair, hanging...from her hair. ]
...hi.
video;
[He really has to stop and think about that, because that's... that's just really freaking weird and it almost makes him ignore everything else.
But then he blinks and remembers, hey, newbie over there.]
Okay, no, nevermind all that. Uh. You can probably put the satchel down, this place is fairly safe. The box is a communication device. It... it basically lets you talk to anyone anywhere so long as they also have one.
video;
His voice is calm, however. ]
Though you may have heard it before, this device is used for communication with those far from yourself. Only of this land, however.
[ A pause. ]
If you were unsafe before arriving... this land is safe.
Video
Don't worry about being attacked, either! This place is pretty safe. And your Pokemon buddy'll help protect you! This little box thing is the greatest. You can talk to anybody anywhere in the world! It's technology that uses light waves and stuff, to send a picture and sound across really long distances. That's how we're talking to each other right now!
I'm Jimmy. Jimmy Darling. Welcome to Johto!
Is stealing hair common where you're from? [Not that her hair isn't beautiful, but that seems weird. But then again, lots of pumpkins are stolen where she's from. By her. Accidentally. Sorta.]
Also, what magic box?
video
[Why yes, that is the first thing that catches Riku's attention as he responds. He may be slightly alarming at a glance-- at age 21, he's grown quite tall, though he lacks pointy teeth and greets her with a lazy smile and a hand on his hip.]
I've heard of some pretty strange things, but that's a new one.
